Chris from Letsdig18 has been running a TLV12 for his uncle for years. When he went to buy one for his own business, he bought the exact same machine cause it works great and he’s used to it.

We are definitely like minded on operations and Kommiefornia. I'm an operator in the biz and I love it. What you said about takeuchi track and mini ex combo is exactly 100% spot on for starting up. Truly a winning combination. I had the privilege to see first hand how true this is.

Here in East Texas Kubota Dealership’s are crap as well.. we are a small outfit mulching with a TL8 high flow. Very happy with machine and dealer support. Our mulching is a side business that caters to our machine shop clients, so a smaller unit that can go through soft soil fit us best.
Keep up the good work brother.

Thanks for taking the time to put up the videos done very well. I had a TBO 45 excavator excellent machine except for I had to pull the counterweight to change the battery maybe you don't but I did I couldn't get it out any other way but that's what I started out on about 2000. I later moved to California and was a senior project manager for developer would have loved to have you on my jobs after working in Tahoe and Kirkwood can't imagine the bureaucracy you go through up there my hats off to you keep working hard keep putting up videos you're helping a lot of folks out. My hat's off to you. I moved back to Ohio bought a cheap 763 With too many hours thinking I know how to work on these and that's all I did. Bought a brush hog a grapple auger blade 3point etc the only thing that works still are the attachments. Great videos keep them up!!!!!!

I love the takeuchi, I have the tl10v2, tb260, and tb240, they have all been outstanding workhorses. The TB260 has 30gpm high flow on the 2nd aux on the stick which runs my flail really well. The TL10 has 14 hydraulic hp less than the TL12 but it still runs my prinoth m450s mulcher pretty decent.

I remember when you went to Global to try the Tak and some other brand. One of the big features you liked at that time was the overhead lift of the front door as well as the full view provided to see what was going on up front. I believe you said at the time the side view was less blocked on the Tak.

Great vid Sam. I've been wanting to get one for quite a while now. Just recently traded my old cat mini excavator on a new takeuchi tb240. Do a few side jobs with it and rent it to a few buddies. You got me thinking Tak now. Reading about a lot of issues with the John Deere 333G and over heating issues. I have no dealers close to me here in Maine and 2 hrs being the closest one. Same with the Tak. So, any down time requires me to drive 2 hrs away just to have it fixed. So down time means money lost.

I buy a skid steer if I could get in and out of one. I bought a ventrac because its low to the ground and has hand controls.
I had a car accident when I was 21yrs old. I'm paralyzed from the chest down. Nothing stops me, but I can't see climbing over a bucket, climbing into a cab and spinning around every time I wanted to run it.
I may look at the new bobcats that have doors where you get in from the side instead if the front.

Cheap or expensive? I say, 1. purchase whatever does the job. 2. the piece of equipment that you can get locally supported. 3. if you have commonality with existing equipment, the more the better.
Most small companies can't afford to have a dealer work on all the equipment they own. Owner maintained has it's pluses and negatives, but having the skill to maintain the equipment yourself pays dividends.

Nice Video. Ive rented these from United for a while but would never buy a Tak for off road use. This ground looks easy but if your operating these solid base suspension skids (tak, bob, kub) in rocky clay soil (like crush n run with red clay instead of sand) like we have here in North, GA it will bang you around so hard you'd wonder how the unit stays attached to the suspension. In the summer the red clay bakes into a solid rock behind the track guard and sprocket to where its never fully clean unless you have tons of free time. In the winter when its wet and humid midday kicks back behind then re freezes back into a clay solid at night its never clean. The sprockets and rollers get very hot compared to the Cat 249 I just rented. Just got a quote to finance a 259 D with 5 year warranty at around 6% more cost than new TL8. Cat's flow through suspension ride quality is on a whole different level than Tak or kubota and has the foot decelerator pedal which really helps on big slopes.

Toward the end of the video around the 14 min mark, or past?
You know, how you were saying "Skid loaders" seem to hold their value, you've got that right! I've never looked into the logistics of it, but its probably b/c people
trade them back in to the dealers, vs private sell them or something? so a supply and demand aspect?
I kind of believe, its ridiculous how the army swiss knife of loaders, has such a high mark up...when trying to find a good deal.
Where I live, even the ragged out crap, people ask ridiculous prices.. @ which point its like.. "Fine, keep your garbage, I'll just go buy new"... & deal with a payment.

if you have work for it everyweek then for sure buy new.. if youre starting out and your local market i pretty saturated with operators/contractors then youre really better off buying something with cash.. if you buy a 6figure machine and then only get one job a year with it youre gonna be in a shitty situation, and really if youre starting out you dont know how much work youre gonna find until you have the equipment and are getting into the jobs, the way they hold value you can pickup a 5000hour machine at a good price put a 1000 hours on it clean it up and fix some mall things and sell it for a profit or if you have a major part failure atleast break even

Sam, this seems to be a good time to bring up this topic since the vid is all things reviewed. What ever become of the Gen Y Spartan hitch? I know you seemed to like the heck out of it on your first rip, but have never seen or heard of it again. On a side note to any viewers taking a hard look at the Takeuchi, the 12 is a beast, I run the same set up as Sam. Early on with the V2 guys were knocking the bushings out of the lift jacks with low hours of use, like 500 and less. I don't know if this issue has been addressed by Tak, I would imagine they have. My R2 has been flawless, two years next month, very good unit!!! Keep the tracks turning Sam and take us along for the ride, now if you would just get that 450 with 475 HP. lol lol
