    Its just occurred to me that I never discussed the Hours in this video, The machine had 3980 hours on it when I got it which is a bit higher than Id like but I talked to several people who said it wasn't hard to imagine getting 8000+ out of the engine and pumps so that should last me quite a while!

      Fuel pump on my truck went out, so I went and bought this nice looking 2000 Saturn SL1 to get me by so I could work on the truck. So far I've replaced nearly every sensor in it, given the engine a complete tuneup with all fluids and filters changed and found out that the car has never had a new set of plugs or wires in it since it's been new. One of the previous owners had the tranny fluid/filter replaced about three years ago, but everything else they just let it go to shit. I don't mind putting the money into it, since I got it from 25MPG to 34MPG after the work I did, but it's the little things that make me wonder sometimes...

    Aloha Matt. Get some 303 Aerospace Protectant and spray it onto the new tracks to make them last a lot longer than ones without the 303 Aerospace Protectant. It works wonders for rubber and plastic parts to make them last a lot longer. I use it on all of my vehicles around here. One guy even soaked a brand new timing belt on his Toyota in 303 and then ran it for 375,000 miles and it still looked brand new. He decided to change it out as he wondered if the fibers inside the rubber timing belt were getting weak. I use it on all of my belts and plastic stuff here and I am on my 2nd gallon jug of it. It may make the new tracks on the Takeuchi last a lot longer. The old ones looked really dried up and that is why they split. When applied onto brand new rubber, it helps to encapsulate the plasticizers in the rubber and that makes the rubber stay flexible and supple. Just a suggestion from someone who really likes the 303 Aerospace Protectant.

This machine came from Mid Atlantic rental with 840 hours.. under carriage was like new but the tracks had similar damage on one. A friend used the machine on too steep of a side slope ant threw the low side track. I was able to put it back on and order new tracks. I went with zig-zag patern (from block pattern). Love the traction but the ride is rougher. Stick with C-block unless you need the extra traction . This is the best machine i have ever run. I picked up John Deere 318D wheeled loader two years ago with 3700 hrs on the clock and it has been a great help to me out in my big yard. I did all the required filter changes, flushing tanks, oil change, lube and the like when I first got it. So far it has been a real champ with the only mechanical repair being the attachment locking mechanisms wear items being replaced such as springs, pins and links.
    I’m sure the irony has not been wasted on those like me who have noticed the old wheeled Bob Cat coming to the rescue. LOL. :)

    Matt, Im a retired heavy equip tech. The connection on the oil pan is an " enviro" connection. No spill. Caterpillar have these on late models. So many different ones on other brands. The trick is to unscrew the base fitting out of the pan.

  • @BlueDually4x4
    @BlueDually4x4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Only thing I can comment on is tracks vs tires, the tracks ride a little rougher but the machine seems to me, to be more stable when lifting near the machine's limit. It doesn't sway or lean forward like a wheeled machine. And actually I like the lift the cab to change the filter layout, as it forces you to look at all the hoses and fittings you normally would never check. So you should catch a problem before it is a big problem.
    I worked at a company that had truck, tractor and machine services figured out. Every time you change the oil on anything, replace the drain plug with a high flow hydraulic fitting. Or in stuff with belly pans a length of hydraulic hose with a high flow fitting. Get your self a good fluid pump, with the matching high flow fitting and suck the oil right out, never making a mess again. Hook the lines together and pump the waste oil in a drum, no more drain pans or dirt in your face trying to get access to the plug.

    • @TestECull
      @TestECull 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eh, you have a decent idea but in practice all putting the oil filter there accomplishes is making people reticent to PM their machine in the first place. I saw some of that manifest when I bought my '85 F150 back in '07; it has the 300 I6 and the previous owners never changed #6 spark plug on the grounds they simply couldnt reach it and didnt want to climb up into the engine bay or get some extensions out. Thing had an intermittent miss and that was the culprit; that spark plug had worn to about 120-130 tho gap while the other five were in the 35-45 thou range one would expect. I changed all six...the othef five were about due anyway...and the miss went away.
      Put service components in easy to reach places or they wont get serviced. First thing I would do if I had this machine would be to relocate the oil filter, fill, drain ports to a place easily accessed by merely opening the back door where they should have been since day one. 15 minute PM.

I run a track skid steer daily one thing I learned about 10 years ago is when moving fine or dusty product be careful of turning or getting in to much because it will throw a track so what I do is use a wider bucket then the machine that way it keeps it away from the tracks. That's a great machine and with only alittle over 3000 hrs if the previous guy did the proper maintenance it will last you a long time.

As many huge machines as I've operated over the years, from Hyster Yardmaster container lifts to big and small wheel loaders, dozers, graders and any number of other "critters", I've only operated a friend's skid steer on one occasion. I see a lot of these up here in the Bakken oilfield. I see Chris (letsdig) doing a lot with skidsteers at times, too. They have really come a long way since the vast majority now seem to favor the tracked versions and they can really be versatile in the hands of someone that knows how to use one.
