Thank you guys for your videos. I love to see how people do things different ways. You have also talked me into getting a grab like Heather received as a gift. Keep up the good work and thank you again. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.
I have a pretty good idea ;-) I sure am happy to have Heather sharing my dream of living the way we do... We are both like little kids playing outside, just having fun lol. Thank you Matt, I am glad you enjoyed the video :-) Thanks again. You take care ttyl.... Cheers
Hi Folks, I am really glad that Andreas sent you the pulp tongues. I have been using them for over 25 years. They are the best thing for handling any length wood. I use them for picking up blocks of fire wood all the time. Saves bending all the way too the ground and having to use two hands on most blocks. They are so much safer to use than a pulp hook!!😁😁 Take care and stay safe my friend's. Talk to you soon!! Your friend Al.
mean joe green :)sometimes autocorrect screws up. If I don't go back and proofread and send it. I hoped that this wasn't a grammar test. Take care my friend.
Glad it warmed up a bit for you both. My niece has 300 acres in the Algonquin High lands About 4 hr s from you .We will be in Ontario for the Maple sugar season . We will be there for about a month . Best Wishes Howie and Missy
Looks like the old ice tongs used in the ice houses and for delivering ice to homes. They were just a bit bigger with a rounded handle. Same design exactly. 400 pound blocks of ice were split and delivered to the fish boats holds etc. An ice pick and tongs were essential. Take care. Doug
TimberTuff makes a bunch of inexpensive logging tools. Generally just as good quality as the big name stuff. Definitely goi g to get a small log tongs like what Heather is using.
I do believe a man could copy it with some flat steel and a bolt or three and a grinder to make the points on the end that grabs. If you can build a saw mill then from pattern in front of you.. I wish I had exercised more but am lazy and now overweight along with diabetes and broken back. I know when I worked my job, even if I hurt, getting exercise was the difference in a good day or a real bad one. Stick a fork in me now, I'm so bad off. I will be surprised if they don't take my legs off below the knees and its my fault.
tell me about that battery powered saw. battery life, saw brand, bar length, overall satisfaction. looks like it cuts that lodgepole pretty easy. Less noise, no smoke or fumes, no gasoline to buy, no mixing the gas/oil. No gas can to buy.wow.
Am curious, how much petrol does it take to do your winter logging and to keep your trails packed? Am sure the animals appreciate the packed trails to save their energy.
good morning , bushmasters. -27 here this a.m. it was hard to get up..lol force yourself to have fun packing trails..lol.. i think Heather needs a bigger sled
Good morning Bob. Brr that is cold :-( Lol yeah I have to get my butt outside as well very soon... The day is waiting for me ;-) Yup it will be tough to get on the snowmobile and ride around the bush packing trails :-( Ahh I have it rough ;-) lol. Thanks again. You take care ttyl.... Cheers
I was thinking Heather could bring the small trailer out to the bush. So you could fill it up out there and still put logs on the other trailer. I know more work just saying. Stay safe and warm.
You are absolutely right, right now she just tows the little sleigh that is for her Elan... We mostly just load it with our Chainsaw our hard hats, the camera tripod and a small tool box with out pulp hooks and measuring tape, but all this could be put in a small box on the snowmobile.... Someday I want to get one of those Otter style toboggans for behind her snowmobile, just not in our budget right now :-( Thanks again. You take care ttyl.... Cheers

Hello Cecil and Heather, what it's going in your firewood shed? Spare or something?

Off Grid Homesteader Cecil E Skinner Good idea on using the small bobsleigh to haul your gear for cutting in the bush.
Great video !!!!! What type of battery operated chainsaw are you using. Seems to last quite a while.
That looks like a great tool. I may have to look into something like that for the wife and kids. Thanks for sharing!
