    You never fail to impress! Those obvious work flow issues that you find in even excellent products are so good to know before buying! You are the last link in the chain (except for my bank balance) in my light buying decisions process!👏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾

    I do think it's worth mentioning that even at this price point if you add 4 units together to make a roughly 44" tube you are roughly at the the same price point as one Astera Titan or for that matter a Helios tube. You mentioned the virtues here well, as to justification for use/purchase. Additionally - output photometric data is still squarely in the Astera camp all things considered. There's also long term build quality as an owner operator or a rental house. I love Aputure products, customer feedback quick innovation and price point don't get me wrong.

    I picked up a pair of these a few days ago, and in terms of dimming curves, the Sidus Link app offers a variety of dimming options for fade-in and fade-out, though I haven’t a way to test whether those settings reside internally and will therefore carry over into the CRMX behavior.

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah those settings don't seem to effect the DMX at all. But for $200 I can't be too fussy.

    I've ordered 4 of them, love the Sidus link system... I have the pavo tubes with grids ,good but no remote control and battery life is short, looking forward to using them and a 4ft version. Thanks for the review 👍

  • @ypsart
    @ypsart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for the extensive testing and sharing of your results. Have you tested the dimmer curves with different output levels or did you “only” test for one exposure? Maybe the actual light level is calculated for differently in the Aputure software then the Astera one. I might do a test if I get my hands on the MTs.

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I only tested from 0 to 100%. It's a huge improvement over the previous firmware in the MT which was jurkey in the fades

      @@gaffergear Thanks for the response. I had some problems in the past with the implementation of DMX by Aputure (300d II and 300X). Let's hope they get better fast. At least they go into the right directon with implementing wireless DMX directly into their products :)

    This was the review I have been wait fore before I order this!
    Did you try to mount 2 or more of them? How much will the gap affect if you have them in the frame?
    I think still Astera Tube is the king of the hill if you want them in the frame because the are white and looks like a real tube.

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, I love my titan kit.

    Please note whether external power in depends on internal battery function. Tends to be an issue in fixtures with in-built batteries

  • @JonesFred070
    @JonesFred070 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you as always
    I have heard negative feedback regarding the performance of CRMX receivers in the 600Ds. Specifically, they would work well in prep, but when they come back the next day for the shoot, they would be wacky and disconnected. I am not well versed enough in wireless DMX to explain this well, but have you ever had syncing issues after hanging the units up for a day?

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find on set now, the 1st thing I turn on is my CRMX. That seems to help things to lock on automatically.
      My 600s seem solid, they seem to fire up the next day with the last DMX command they received, until a new command is received.
      I have found with some other brands that they seem to lock after I have flashed a black out command through the set.
      They have Lumen Radio Timo Two Modules in them, so the hardware is as solid as you get.
      But maybe ask on some of the Aputure user groups to see if anyone has had this problem and knows the situation. I would suggest the Aputure Asia User Group as they seem to be all over DMX and large complex setups.

    How do you set up the lighting at the beginning of the video?

  • @ErisedMediaCo
    @ErisedMediaCo ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a way to run this light in “studio mode” like some of their other lights? I know it has internal batteries but it’d be great to have an instant on and instant off when power reaches the USB-C port light you can on the T2c and T4c. Are you aware if this is present?

    What is the difference between this tube and infinibar pb3? Except of package options and absent ability to make infinity line like when you use infinibar?

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can mount a tube and roll it over in its mounts to face the camera, an infinibar always faces upwards from its mounts. So unless the camera faces the top of it you will see the side walls of the light

    I’d love to know how these perform and general usability when working with say 20 units or more. Could see these as nice pixel mapped stage lighting effects with that pixel density but I know that would cause your clients to have a stroke 😅
