*Salamence does a dramatic, Shakespearian display as it pretends it's dying in agony, but in reality it just HP Flyings into Skarm and Swampert until it dies 20 turns later.
funny thing, it actually kinda is, because from this moment on it will lose 1/16th of its health every turn it is out, which will eventually result in its slow, inevitable death. Just imagine it as a poison heal gliscor that permanently gets its ability removed.
The problem is that gen 2 doesn't have permanent sand or 3 layers of spikes. It's used with other purposses, which I dont know because I don't play GSC :p (probably to stall your oponent better)
TeamCap It’s the same ultimate purpose of making damage stick. For instance, with lefties Raikou is a reliable switch into stuff like Gengar and Zapdos, without leftovers Raikou has a nasty habit of getting whittled down and taken advantage of even harder when resting. Passive damage is amazing even without Sand being common, and with the higher overall bulk levels leftovers are perhaps even more valuable in Gen 2.
recently dekzeh used armaldo in ci4 playins and he actually used mimic over harden, which theoretically is just better harden, you copy lax curse and still rest loop it after only 5 boosts, the move resets when you switch so its possible to use it to copy recovery moves, status moves, spin etc. as well as beating lax
Knock off is obviously the biggest change to a move from gen5 to gen6 I think you should do a video about the biggest changed move from each generation and the biggest impact move introduced in the new generation
that would be really interesting to see, for gen 1 the move with the most impact (at least from my limited RBY knowledge) was hyperbeam, for gen 2 it's a toss up between spikes, hidden power and pursuit, for gen 3 i think it'd be dragon dance as we've had setup moves before but DD increased your offense as well as your speed, calm mind is also a contender thanks to it's pretty big distribution, will o wisp is also up there(also gen 3 made so spikes could go up to 3 layers which is massive), for gen 4 it's u turn or stealth rock, for gen 5 i think it's volt switch, quiver dance is a contender but quiver dance is pretty much volc only in OU iirc, for gen 6, 7 and 8 i dunno as i don't know much about those.
For all of Gen III (and years afterwards) Kadabra was BL but Alakazam was OU. When Gen III was current, it had a much bigger OU list (about 35 - 40 Pokemon), around 2005 time stuff like Sceptile, Dusclops, Rhydon, Regirock, Weezing, Linoone, etc. were in OU. I used to play on NetBattle a lot back then. But my point is that if they decide years later that Alakazam shouldn't really be OU, it doesn't mean they have to drop Kadabra to UU. I think it would have been a lot more strange if they were both put in BL at the same time.
Kadabra is one of those Pokémon that,if NFE clause is undone and the all of the BL are released at once (which scarily looks like it could soon happen entirely) may probably still be too much for UU. It's crazy strong in regards to the tier. At least as it stands it would probably get banned, but maybe the BL would balance it (Alakazam would get straight up banned however)
@@BKCplaysPokemon that's true. I like it to have some utility outside of that though, because with taunt/knock/recover it does nothing to teams that don't have blissey. Fire punch is good for koing chipped metagross and 1v1ing skarm, or ice punch for mence
@@BKCplaysPokemon Wow, great pick. I have to go with Black Rose Immortal, classic stuff is amazing. Keep up the good work man and give a listen to Dream Theater if you haven't already hahaha
Knock off was fine in gen 5. It's a support move, and it was great for dealing with eviolite. Buffing it to 65(130) BP was silly. Theres tons of offensive dark moves already. They shoulda buffed it to 30(60) BP for technician users and just left it at that.
I feel like I’d knock off wasn’t buffed the game would still be so heavily skewed towards stall which in my opinion is just not fun for the Mets at all. I do think 97 with the boost is too much, but making the move competitively viable is a really pivotal improvement for competing Pokémon in my opinion.
@@thefloodwatch785 but now they have poltergeist, and corrosive gas, and trick. Most of the walls aren't even hit super effective by dark or flat out resist it
I agree it was dumb to buff the move. Many utility moves should have between 50 and 60 bp so that they are used either by weak pokemon or technician users. Having said that, i would love to see the move alredy buffed in gen 3, that would have made Alakazam a threat
To this day I’ve always said Knock Off is the best move in the game. Scald isn’t even a contender. Hazards would be next up for me as a consideration on that spot personally.
I don't think knock off in gen5 had the same utility on ferro that it had in the other gens it's more like in gen 5 you wanted to weaken switch ins to ferrothorn like others ferrothorn or tran whereas in the other gen it seemed way more permanent cheap with sand and without leftovers the goal is the same "cheap" your oppo to death but the execution felt like a lot different
@order-sol's last brain cell My comment was old but its a mix of things what makes Scald bad in terms of design. Burn chance from fire moves is easily played around by sending a fire type that at worst resists the move and you dont get burn. Scald limits a lot what pokemon you can send in, as fire types cant switch in and almost everything else can get burn (and with a realistically high chance), and it becomes a nuclear weapon in the hands of stuff with high spdef like Tentacruel, specially in Rain. Scald is a move that punishes aggressive play, and the 30% chance of burn is so high, that its worth fishing for burn even in a rain mirror.
Unlike the rest I like the title tbh. also good video overall :=). The only thing you could try for the next discussions: Start the music before you start the recording and try not to point to the chat in battle replays, because we cant see it
Shame you can’t viably pair anything with Thief and Knock Off with a berry or something so you can knock items off and when something comes in with an item you may like you can steal it just to rub in the fact they get no items.
This is why we banned Spikes in LG/FR/Emer when we were kids. 100+ turn battles of constant switching and not dealing damage. One kid ruined it. Fuck you Mojo-Jojo
ya know, spikes actually make fights SHORTER. Imagine 100+ turn battles of constant switching and not dealing damage, but there are also no spikes to offset the opponent's leftovers recovery. Now THAT is what I imagine hell is like.
@@IschmarVI No, I meant Mojo had started the whole switching out constantly thing in our school when he used a team that was around spikes and constantly switching out.
