Hey Alyssa! I have so so many techniques for gentle and effective needling. In Japanese acupuncture, an oshide (guide hand) helps you to cushion the needle tip and feel for ki. It is amazing at correctly and effectively needling. Also, tapping in your needle at the correct oscillation stops you from needing to really push it in with strength. I have a lot more that I cover at ShinKyu University!
Thank you for always being positive and uplifting to so so many. We need people like you in our profession.

I am brand new to needling. Two weeks ago in class, I burst into a few tears and announced aloud that it was hard. Then I starting thanking the needles as I removed them. I developed a little routine. Now I invite the body to welcome the needle, as I do as a patient. I ask that the body take what it needs. Then I remove with a swab in my left hand, pulling and thanking the needle with my right. I invite the healing to continue after the needle has departed. This has helped me feel less scared of inflicting pain and more excited about bringing healing. I am now excited instead of terrified to needle. I am sharing a link here with my classmates, one of whom was on the webinar for the 6 Figure Acupuncture program. Yay!

Hi Alyssa! Another great video! Once again very uplifting and confidence-building :)) These are the sort of messages that strenghten the Eastern Medicine practice, I believe your work to be quite valuable.
As for tips - what I personally do, when it comes to new patients, is using pediatric needles on the first points, as they are thinner and don't give out such strong sensations upon insertion. As the patient eases in and gets accustomed to the needles, I gradually switch to adult needles. I find it is a good way to begin the therapeutic journey with a patient.

Great video Alyssa! For really nervous, new patients, I like to distract them with some personal questions….. then I interrupt their description of their adorable puppy to see if they are ok with the first 3 needles inserted.
