I'm 53 years old. I'm on the fence with my next decision. I was told that I needed a complete knee replacement. I have meniscus tears and have been dealing with 7+ pain for over 6 months. Considering the Hyaluronic acid injections. I just went to a PT session and putting in the work to get stronger. I am planning a total knee replacement next year instead of meniscus surgery per the surgeon's recommendations due to being bone-on-bone. Thanks for all of the great information.
I'm over 50 and I had a knee injury. X-ray shows no fracture & no significant arthritis. MRI shows complex radial medial tear, bone bruise, Baker's cyst, & loose bodies. Extreme pain and it's been 11 wks. I'm on compression hose, brace, and have started PT last wk. I've had my knee freeze up w/ sharp pain. My Ortho says my knee is a MESS! 2 days ago was the worst , had stabbing pain in my knee for 3 hrs. Very depressing. My DR said if I were younger I would've already had surgery. He says I may still need surgery. It's a awful injury and is depressing. So you can be older and actually injure you knee in a traumatic way w/o it happening over time. 11 wks out and my knee is NO better. I also have the loose bodies, which can make my knee lock up.
I have a meniscus tear due to arthritis. I chose the exercise route. Which type if exercises do you recommend. What are some advanced exercises to help?
@@arthritisadventure thank you so much, I found your video just at the right time… i am going to try very hard the exercise… you said everything I was thinking…. I watched your video many times yesterday. Much appreciated, surgeons office calling to schedule me, and I will discuss therapy first ❤️

Wouldn’t there be different degrees of a tear? Like if more severe, surgery would be best option?
Correct. Where the tear is and the severity dictates appropriateness for surgery
