All these chevy fans say the ford only won because it has awd. Which may be true, but what is the point of having more power if you cant actually get it to the ground efficiently?
Allen Conner The whole point is who's capable of being faster. Both had the best tunes they could get. Hands down SHO has more capacity for being faster. Who cares which was faster off the dealer lot. It's all about how you like me now?
@Drz G I just sold the 3.5 MKS got it with 84k sold with 130k launched it everyone I drove it and treated the car like I didn’t own it, wennntttt way to long on oil changes and never had a single problem, other than the Lincoln’s touch buttons quitting working. I had a 2013 out 16 2.7 has a 140k almost and hasn’t had a single problem knock on wood. Traded the Lincoln for a 2013 6.4 manual Challenger so it’s funny looking back at this 😂 I lovveeddd that Sho platform though and if you can swing it the 13+ mks is a lottttttt nicer than the sho like a lot a lot. You looking to get one?
Zach Hartman yeah that's an easy way to tell to I forget. Funny thing is, stock the 14 in this video is faster than any 16/17. The engine output stayed the same but adding magnaride, bigger brakes, and bigger wheels didn't help it around a road course or in a straight line.
Hey my mistake I heard the SS owner telling someone he hadn't had the car for very long so I mistakenly thought it was a brand new 2017 model. He keeps the car clean so for a 2014 it definitely looked brand new.
@@ramboiv that is correct and funny how that happens as in the 0-60 times website which is very accurate, best times for the 14 is 12.8.compared to the 16/17 which does 13.0. And the other crazy thing as well is that the 14 with having the brembos only in the front, stops 6 feet better than the 15 model when those have the brembos in the front as well as the back. So it shows that the 14 is the overall best performer out of all of them
Because it was a street racing event they weren't timing the runs hence the reason I had to add the timer to the video. And the trap speed for the SS was probably about the same at 113 or so because he was hanging with me the whole time.
Tell us more about your car, I have a 13 +pp SHO, unleashed/AJPTURBO tune, windstorm, 170, 3 bar, RXP catch can, I don't run that well, what tires you have, altitude, and do you have meth and DPs? Thanks! Btw car looks great and sounds good! Good luck, more videos!
The sad fact of the matter (but I'm sure you know this) is that PP SHO's are actually slower than the non-pp SHO's once tuned. The difference in gearing on the PP isn't optimal for the power gains where the non-pps shine. Stock to stock the PP is .5-.7 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile with a good driver. Try 22/23 psi in the front and 28 psi in the rear to drag the 60's down. I can snag .15 second faster 60's with just that and its pulls me down almost half a second in the 1/4
I have factory turbos with a custom E30 tune from Unleashed and yes I do have 3" downpipes and am spraying methanol too. I hope to get the car into the 11s soon. Weighing in at around 4,400 lbs doesn't help me though!
Zach Hartman I keep hearing the non pp is faster but I haven't seen any proof of that. The car in the video is a pp I'm almost positive and he ran a 12.22 But you said the pp is faster in the 1/4 mile but in the beginning you said the non pp is faster? That doesn't make any sense.
john mo I said the PP cars are faster stock. When tuned the gearing on the Non-PP cars is better and makes faster cars. Ask anyone that tunes these and they will say that. The video doesn't look like a PP car, hard to tell but the steering wheel looks like a non PP. He's also on meth and no offense but people are running low 12s tune only. Meth users are breaking 11s. Just shows how far these can go with just a tune
Zach Hartman that's the thing I keep hearing but I keep seeing pp cars run faster at the track and they have slips to prove. And theyre the exact same tunes. I still have my doubt's until I see otherwise. There's also a lot more non pp than pps out there. Plus its all about the driver also.
The Cadillac CTS-V, and even CTS V Sport will blow the doors off the SHO, especially around a track. Then again, they're in a different price league...
Fuckkk yea you made me decide what kinda car i wanna get now. I was so tempted to get the SS but after this vid id rather get this gas save 3.5 ecoboost !! Im going to trade in my ST for it. Nice vid and amazing car!
If you don't see snow or plan to drive the vehicle year round get the SS. It's way more fun, and handles insanely better. Weight distribution is basically perfect (52/48) and its track mode is seriously fun. It GRIPS corners the SHO couldn't dream of. Straight away's the tuned SHO will pull away until about 100, stock to stock the SS stomps the SHO in every single category. SHO (loaded) interior is better imo with a better entertainment system. I like the heads up display, leather wrapped and stitched dash and the seats in the SS more though. The SS will also hold its value better being they only made slightly over 11,000 of them across 3 years of production, this being the last. Source: There's a 2015 tuned SHO and a 2017 SS in my driveway.
Never was a chevy person more of a Ford & Dodge dude. I was really comparing the 2013 ford taurus sho vs a 2013 dodge charger RT awd. Pretty much has the same power and both comes in awd. Although the Sho might get you 2 or 3 mpg's better but i would love to own a v8 for the first. Decisions decisions..
Funny song people say "if this then that". Fact is, the SHO won, and GM cars take way more than a tune to gain minimal time. I know this from being a long time GM man. Yes, the AWD helps, but that's what makes part of the car. You may add all say "but the SS had a big V8, that's why it won" (if it won). None of that matters. The SHO with a simple time beat the SS. Time the SS and it'll probably gain .2 seconds, . 4 with slicks. Upgrade the turbos on the SHO and it'll be in the 11s. That's Z06 territory. At that point, I wouldn't care if the SS is faster. Props to both cars. The 2013 SHO is probably half the price of a 2014 SS.
gotta love all the if and buts about it, winning is winning whinners if the driver of the ss wasn't confident he wouldn't have accepted race. i personally and especially on the trac wouldn't agree to race if my vehicle isn't equally matched in this case they were just Chevy people mad cause Ford won so lame
Meh... I'd still take an SS over a Taurus SHO. V8, Stick, and RWD is more fun than a V6 with an automatic and AWD. Speed isn't everything... and besides, if I wanted more speed, the SS has an LS3, and there are a shit-ton of aftermarket parts available to give it more power. Not saying the SHO isn't a good car, I'm just saying I'd prefer to have an SS.
I agree with you all the way... i have a regular Taurus 2012 awd and the boring level can't be more higher than this... i had a V8 before (automatic, RWD) and i miss it. The SHO is good for quarter mile but that's it. It's quiet, no dynamic... unless you have a tune on that thing, its a snooze fest.
I have a SHO, and I would agree the SS is the better overall performance car and if I could afford it at the moment it would be the car I have instead. But, the SHO is the better daily, especially in places with weather, and mod for mod the SHO is cheaper to make faster up to a certain point. The SS unquestionably has the higher ceiling, and will be the better handler in the twisties for sure and the RWD and option for a stick and the V8 noise are major pluses for the SS no doubt.
And just to let all y'all Ford fans know the Sho is EcoBoost that means they have a twin turbo for the boost if they put a twin turbo on that camaro it will leave the sho from foot and will definitely blow the doors off that shity SHO lol every body is brainwash about the sho that's just EcoBoost that's not all motor if it wasn't for EcoBoost they won't be shit at all gm just didn't came out with EcoBoost they just have flex fuel and direct fuel injection and that show keeps breaking down everybody be having problems with Ford sho GM is still better they don't know what they talking about💁
You'd be surprised. My SHO puts down way more torque to the wheels than our SS makes at the crank. Roll races (once tuned) are a lot closer than you'd expect. Perfect conditions and launches at the strip it would be a very close race. On the street stop light to stop light awd wins everytime. On a road course that SS is going to have the SHO by about 10 seconds a lap. Atleast
For an overweight beast, I love my SHO. Stoplight -to- stoplight, I haven't lost a race yet.
Racing urself much

Dang, nice run! I just totaled my GT500 on black ice, taking over my wife's 2011 SHO for a daily driver, and this gives me hope :)
Just clarifying, that's a 2014 SS. It's the only model year with the matte black exhaust diffuser. Also, the 2016/17 has a different front bumper.
