Glad to hear you were able to connect with your family over Thanksgiving.
We do love all your videos, that said thanks for this one because my wife was really liking the Revel over our Travato 59k. Now no way would she get this model. Sure there are some back roads to explore but we have not exhausted all the front roads yet. If we get anxious to see what is down that dusty dirt road I think we will get a trailer and a small 4 wheeler (can-am x3) to head out to the wilder areas during the day and return to the comforts of home in the Travato at night. Glad we could help you decide how much you like your Travato. We are definitely not trying to sell the Revel, it is not for everyone for sure. Glad to hear you will continue watching.

I just discovered your channel (a friend referred me) and enjoyed this video as my first one. I've now subscribed. I am a brand new RVer having just picked up my new-to-me Class B a couple of months ago. I can't imagine getting up the nerve to drill holes in it. I'm curious where you're from. I live in Western NC so always good to know my neighbors are out there on the road.
We are so glad you found us. Drilling that hole was very hard for me to watch, but we had watched a lot of videos on how to do it so it did make me feel a little more comfortable with it. We are from North Wilkesboro, it is at the bottom of the mountain from Boone. Where are you from? We would love to see you on the road. We hope you have a Very Merry Christmas!
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle I live in Columbus which is the bottom of the mountain from Saluda. I'm about 45 minutes from Asheville. We'll definitely have to meet up at some point. I have yet to spend a night in my van, but am enjoying taking day trips in it and using it for my daily driver. It's quite the conversation piece!
Oh guys. I have to hand it to you making your van fit your needs. I will have to pass on trying it. Our camper fits us better but that’s us. Good luck and keep sending your videos. I love watching them.
The most important thing is that you have something that works for you. We are by no means trying to sell anyone on the Revel. It’s just our means of getting out there to explore. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video guys and can’t wait to meet up with you again. I would recommend researching rock wool vs Havelock wool. We went with Havelock because rock wool has a tendency to mold since it is not true wool. Big hugs from the three of us and Revel on! ❤️
Hey. I meant Havelock. Same as you since you sent the link. 😂😂👍. Looked at Rock Wool but stopped when read chemicals they use and not really wool. Your changes are awesome. Think I just saw your bumper on the SWAT tank. 😂
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle we love it so far. Really like the Sherpa idea y’all did! May be on a future list 😉. I had to double check on the cabinet comment but ours stay up also when we open them lol 😂
Congratulations! It seems just perfect for what you both enjoy. I’m looking forward for all your updates and adventures! Stay safe and blessings in your day
Hi from Raleigh! We also bought a 2021 Revel a few months ago and have made similar mods, including a DIY garage set. In addition, we have replaced the lights over the bed with adjustable lights seen on the FB page, and also put one in the dinette area. We gave up on the window shades and put up blackout curtains and a rod in the cab and in the back next to the back doors as well. They help keep it warm until we can upgrade our insulation too. Revel on and maybe we'll see you somewhere in our travels!
We would love to see your garage set and how you put up your curtain rod up front, I hate putting those shades up. Thanks so much for your comment, we hope to see you on the road sometime.
Love the things you’ve done. Most won’t translate to the Travato KL NPE, but anything learned is a bonus that will encourage thought and innovation. Thank you for sharing another Sunday morning. Looking forward to more of the Griddle Me This with chef Owen. Stay Safe!
You guys are so amazing! Your videos/editing just keep getting better and better!!!! I loved the transitions you used in this one. There's always something to work on, isn't there? The box/es on the back are so incredible and they're not going anywhere...very sturdy. I'm continually tweaking our C (26') and looking for better ways to do things. I love the ideas that you share. Have a great week! I can't wait to see where you take us next!❤️🙏Your SC friend, Jane
It’s good to hear we are not the only one’s that continue to change things to make them better. Thanks s much for the kind comment, it is much appreciated.
Cooper at3 is a good option from ko2s... I've been using it from Montana to northpole alaska...it feels like driving with your stock tires in the highway and capable in all kinds of weather and terrains.
I loved this video. Thank you showing the revel and how you fixed up and where you put your stuff. You have some good space in the Revel. Really nice too! Have a great weekend. Looking forward to next video. Stay safe.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle No problem! I m going to watch more either tonight or tomorrow. Love watching videos and seeing the scenery with you. It is fun and nice.
Outstanding video! I'm glad it's working for you. The floor plan of our Travato KL works well for us. Now, if we could just get the Volta lithium system to work for us!
Great content. We also plan 2 and a half years out and I would say we are at the 2 year point. Okay, wife says 18 month point. You've given some good things to consider.
Great video! We have a '20, and have a lot of the same feelings on improving our van. We picked up some great ideas from you, especially the sound dampening and the box on top, which we hadn't seen. Hope you don't have the problems we've had with our Espar heater... otherwise, we love what our Revel has offered us in off-grid and cross-country trips.
Very glad to hear there will be more happy dances, but disappointed in the insulation choices Winnebago made. Glad everything else was pretty much how you wanted it... all the other additions and modifications seem like personal choices rather than fixing problems with the Revel. Hopefully Winnebago will listen to you and change how they insulate their doors! Be seeing you!
I don't use a top sheet either Lynn on our Hymer Aktiv bed. We use stretchable crib sheets on each mattress section (there are 3), which make it easy to fold them back when we put the Murphy bed up each day. We use a light weight but warm comforter with a soft cotton Ikea duvet cover. We use one side for a week then flip it over to use for another week. Can take the duvet cover off and throw in the wash after that.
Thanks for the video.. Nice ideas... We have a lightweight Morris Mule off road trailer that can be used for extended adventures, adding guests with it's roof top tent, or canoe, it can be left somewhere as a cache if necessary.
Hey Owen, nice job on the video. We had a 2018 Thor Citation on a Sprinter chassis that had the same issue as you guys with the shades that came with the RV. In addition to what you described we also had sweat on the inside of the windshield that caused concern. We also found the windshield acted like a magnifying glass in the summer when the windshield shade was in place on very hot days. Our solution was an exterior shade from Fanchers Upholstery. They were very good to work with and I think it was only $120. Of course Debby from She to Me designed one for her RV. Maybe she would have a spare😄 Keep up the good work.
That was a good video. I’ve been following some Revel owners on Utube to get some ideas before we purchase ours. We might try and rent one for a couple trips before we dive in.
I think renting one is a great idea. You never really know how something is going to work until you sleep in it. It is a lot smaller than we are use to but the advantages outweighs the disadvantages by far. I also think it’s all about how you want to travel. Good luck.
I really enjoy your videos! Also loving the new van. I also wanted to ask what’s the brand of boots that Lynn is wearing in this video?Looks really good.
Just found you guys on the tube. Love the down to earth look at your adventures. Look forward to looking back at some of the past vids. Do greatly appreciate your take on camping spots and how you deal with daily challenges. Best wishes on further adventures.
Nice video, great mods:) My Glss arrived 2 weeks ago (2020 Revel); I went with the microwave option, bed risers, 6” mattress, fold-up step, and bamboo table...pricey, but very pleased. The wait was 10 weeks. Sharing your passion, Revel on:)
Lucky you!!! We're jealous. So the mattress???? Does it help? Lynn has issues with sleeping in her hip and the combination we have now is painful. Going to have to do something... not sure what.
VAN TREKKING lifestyle I haven’t spent the night on the mattress yet. I went with the cool gel option. Initial impression is that the gel adds to the comfort; the mattress is medium to firm, but soft enough to be comfortable if your a side sleeper. Cheers:)
Luckily no one was injured. I've seen much worse damage from low impact collisions so I think the Revel took the impact well. Also, I don't think there's much that you could do differently except maybe consider switching to a different tire depending on terrain, like Michelin X-ice. Anyways, enjoy the warm weather 3 weeks can go by quick!
I do think the box and Sherpa on the back door helped us with the damage, it could have been a lot worse. Thanks for the tire suggestion. We appreciate your comment.
I love the Sherpa but do you have a backup camera? I love what Jim and Cynthia have done for the protection of the van as well as the new lighting. Great job on the back seat and storage. It’s too bad about the insulation on the Revel but I think it might be a good idea to open everything up and stuff the new insulation in. She is lookin great guys. Stay safe and warm. Cheers!!!
We love what Jim and Cynthia are doing as well, we have learned a lot from them. We do have a backup camera and it still works ok with the Sherpa and box, but we do get a warning when we are backing up. Thanks for the comment. Cheer to you!
So glad you two,are excited about your new rig. Deb and I are glad you are taking us along for the ride. Are you considering any suspension upgrades? They made a world of difference for us on our 2WD sprinter. Seemed like we were always at or above the GVWR and washboard dirt roads always highlight any rig’s weakest points.
Owen would probably like to add some suspension upgrade but the president of the financial committee thinks there are more import items on the list. Thanks for watching.
You might consider making the kitchen drawers deeper if there aren't obstructions in the cabinets. If you're not up that a cabinet/trim shop could do it. I'm talking about bringing the sides and back higher. If you buy a light bar or add other lights up front be sure that they come with covers. Exposed aftermarket front lamps aren't legal in every state. Happy travels.
Thanks so much for the information... the addition to the kitchen drawers would be awesome. It will be awhile before we add the lights but thank you for the heads up making sure we have covers.
I totally understand how a lot of the fun is in the "mods" and in taking something new & making it your own. But, Jeez! With an MSP of >$180K? It's great that you're so handy, Owen. I couldn't believe the lack of insulation, either - especially at that price. I'll be watching every week to see how your handiwork and creativity transform your Revel into your dream 4X4. QUESTION: What does Maggie think?
The “ no top sheet” is the way to go. I discovered this sensible approach a couple years ago. So much easier skipping sheet straightening.I use a comfy duvet cover. That said, is there anything worse than getting a down comforter back into a cover. Save a marriage and do it solo.
Thanks for the video! You showed us behind door number 2, but my question is: do you shower in the van? Can you do a video (fully clothed of course) how you keep water from escaping?
Yes, we do shower in the van. The curtain snaps over the door way and it keeps the water inside the shower. We will try to show that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Owen, if any of the van builders don’t contact you, they’re nuts. You need to start a consulting company and show them how to build a quality van. What is a GLSS SYSTEM and have you showered in the van yet. Lynn, Diane told me to tell you your hair looks great. Thanks again for all the information and entertainment. The toilet segment was hilarious 😆🤣😂
It would be awesome to have a van built to your specification... maybe one day. The GLSS is a garage lounge system made by Caynon Adventure Van, here’s a link if you want to look at them, they are very nice and a lot of Revel owners have it. canyonadventurevans.com/. Tell Diane I said thank you.
Great video Owen! Amazing van and your wife is the best! But do you really go #2 with the bathroom door open?! Hope those max fans are extra strong to clear out the air ;)
Love what you are doing to your REVEL - I can't believe that you pay that much money to open the panel on the back door to find cheap to nothing insulation - that would be very aggravating to spend that kind of money and know that their skimp on product makes the van less "winter" friendly and doesn't help you in saving money keeping the inside warm in the winter and cold in the summer! I do love all the little touches that you are doing to make it just yours - its just so cozy and unique, and it certainly doesn't hurt having the skills and know how to do some of the DIY projects that would cripple me from the start! Just enjoy you two so much - take care and please stay safe from COVID - its is getting so very bad - where I live in Central Illinois the hospitals are running out of space. I was very curious though about the shower curtain and why you don't use it - and since you are not using it how do you keep the water contained within the shower pan and not out the door and onto the main floor as it looks a bit tight in there. Love you guys!!!
We do use the shower curtain when we take a shower, you definitely need it to keep water off of the door, sorry if we miss stated that. We just keep in the TP holder when we are not using it. Thanks so much for sharing your comment, it is much appreciated.
Looking good! Do you think the trailer will be used when taking longer trips! I am still looking at that model for our LTV Unity for a big trip next summer.
Are you still going to pull trailer? Lots of storage there. Owen, you look like a kid with a big surprise. Where does poor Maggie sleep? I bet she misses snuggling on the beds with you. Happy travels
We will pull the trailer on some trips especially if we take the kayaks, we like having that option. Maggie is sleeping in her bed under our bed most of the time. We let her get in the bed with us until it’s time to go to sleep so she can still snuggle. She usually gets hot and wants down so I don’t feel to bad.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle what about your bikes? I can’t see you without them, you two have so much fun with them. We are going to order some soon, figuring out the bike rack
Great ideas that you have added to the van. When Lynn was closing back doors they sound hollow but when you add more insulation they will sound solid. By the way, what is the brand of the shoes that Owen is wearing ?
Owen’s boot are “Ariat’s”. He’s had an pair just like them for 20 years which he still wears so when I found the exact same boot I both him a new pair, they look a lot better than the old ones and he love them.
I love the tires that you put on your van. Having a nice ride is worth a lot. How quite is the diesel and performance in the mountains? Thanks...love your channel!
The diesel is a little louder than the Travato but it’s not bad at all. It did awesome climbing the mountains, we were both very impressed. Thanks for the question.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle thanks for your help. It is hard to settle on one rig or another. It's for sure I want a good quality build. I think we're getting close though. I know I won't be satisfied if it is not 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive. I'm 68 and never been without since 1972. Linda and I are from Durham NC. not too far from you guys I think. Hope to meet ya'll someday. I may be asking more questions later. Thanks again. Harlan
I LOVE the Revel, a question, where would your Grandkids sleep, under the loft bed or? I know there is an inflatable bed that sleeps one or two, tiny kids that you can put across the driver and passengers seat in front, anywhere else? (They used to have that kids bed that the lounge bed made into, but I think that is gone??). Thanks and Cheers! Jon
If we take our oldest granddaughter she would probably sleep under the bed on a inflatable mattress. We probably want be taking our other grandchildren overnight for a few more years. You are correct we do not have the option for the lounge bed. thanks for the question.
Do you have a link to the bamboo table you got. Your Amazon Store link is coming up blank for me. Also thanks for pointing out the lack of insulation in the back doors. Now I need to insulate my '21 Revel back doors too!
We have not ordered a bamboo table yet, we are still shopping around. Sorry our Amazon link isn’t working for you, here’s the link www.amazon.com/shop/VanTrekkingLifestyle.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle thanks. My VPN software Speedify was evidently landing me from a server that maybe Amazon blacklisted. When I turned off the VPN, you link started working.
Thank you! We buy DEF as needed. We have learned from previous mistakes to not let it get old, out of date. So we buy the newest container we can find. Many rimes we simply fill up at truck stop. Our first fillip in the Revel we actually used Blue DEF PLATINUM. More expensive but supposed to keep things cleaner. Time will tell.
The van is so nice! I look forward to "packing up the fridge" segment. Does the refrigerator run on propane or just battery/electric power? Where does Maggie sleep when you are gone for the afternoon? Lynn, I love your boots...Merrill...which style? Thank you!
The refrigerator run on the battery. Maggie sleeps anywhere she want to, but we do put her bed beside the bench seat at night. If we do leave her durning the day she will sit in the drivers seat and wait on us to return. The boots are Danner’s here’s a link www.danner.com/women/hike/women-s-inquire-chukka-4-brown-cactus.html. I’m sure you can find them a lot cheaper, I found them at a discount shoe store that I like to go to.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Thank you very much!!! In our T@B, the refrigerator runs on battery...we have enjoyed it! Go Maggie...sleep wherever you want...lol! Thank you for the boot selection info.

Let us know what you find with your ladder, it will probably be awhile before we swap ours out. Thanks for watching.
Good morning!!🌞
Owen's comments during the bathroom tour made me giggle! Thanks, I needed that! Hope you guys had a nice Thanksgiving.
Thank you for sharing part of your Sunday morning with us.
Glad we made you giggle.
You guys are fun.
Thank you so much, we appreciate you watching and commenting.
Looking forward to see where you'll be adventuring! Thanks for the tour of your new wheels! Prayers & Love.
Thanks Carol, your comment it much appreciated.
Great review....fun to see you make this van work for you. But, darn those big 'ole butts!!
Thank you so much. We are having fun making the van work for us, but those big ‘ole butts to get in the way.
Stay safe and blessings in your day
Thank you so much for your very nice comment, it is much appreciated.
Good job on installing the Box. Definitely nice van looks comfortable I like it 4-wheel drive definitely get you around.
Thank you, every bit of storage helps and having some on the outside of the van works great for us. We appreciate you watching and commenting.
Y'all just made our Sunday morning! Thank you for sharing.
We appreciate you spending part of you Sunday morning with us. Hope to see you next week.
Great mods! Am thoroughly enjoying your adventures with you. That box on the back looked really narrow until you put your griddle on top. Very cool.
The box is great additional storage for outside things. Every little bit helps. Thanks for watching.
Stay Safe!
We hope to bring back the Griddle Me This real soon. Thanks for spending part of your Sunday morning with us.
Thanks so much for the suggestion, we will definitely look into them the next time we have to purchase tires.
I loved this video. Thank you showing the revel and how you fixed up and where you put your stuff. You have some good space in the Revel. Really nice too! Have a great weekend. Looking forward to next video. Stay safe.
Glad it was helpful! And thanks for being with us!
We loved the K layout and it worked well for us too. Hope you get your lithium working. Thanks for the comment.
Great content. We also plan 2 and a half years out and I would say we are at the 2 year point. Okay, wife says 18 month point. You've given some good things to consider.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your comment.
Good mods! Fun project! 🤙
It is fun to work on projects that make our journey more enjoyable. Thanks so much for watching.
Awesome video !!
Thanks, we appreciate your comment.
I have watched a ton of Revel videos and this one ROCKS!!! You two are great. (Love your accents too) . SUBSCRIBED!! Greetings from Alberta Canada
Thanks for subscribing, it is much appreciated. Happiest of New Years!
Great video. I'll be picking my Revel up in January!!
Congratulations on getting your Revel. We are loving ours.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle unfortunately I got pushed to beginning of Feb. Supply chain issues. 😫
So far the heater has worked great. Really glad to hear that you love your Revel, we are loving ours too. Thanks so much for watching.
Great mods. Best of luck on your wish list ! Your videos are awesome !
The wish list is just that... I think we have done our top mods for now, we will wait and see what we need next. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your videos they are so helpful!!!
We are looking forward to more Happy Dances for sure. Thanks so much for sharing your comment.
O my goodness you guys are the cutest ☺️ I’m loving your video!
Thank you for your kind words. Merry Christmas!
The Ekko is going to be the RV to buy. Totally insulated!
It does look good.
I saw this in another van life video, looks like a great way to keep it neat. A little pricey though.
beddys.com/collections/rvs-campers
I have really liked not having a top sheet, it works so much better. Thanks for the great suggestion.
We have looked at the buddy’s, we may end up doing something like that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks for the video.. Nice ideas... We have a lightweight Morris Mule off road trailer that can be used for extended adventures, adding guests with it's roof top tent, or canoe, it can be left somewhere as a cache if necessary.
The Morris Mule looks awesome, thanks so much for sharing.
i believe the 2 cupholders on the dash are supposed to be for cupholder style iphone holders
That is good to know and makes more sense. thanks for sharing.
Looking good
Thanks, we appreciate you watching.
Thanks so much for the suggestion. We will check it out. We appreciate you watching.
Good luck.
Kudos for another awesome video. We really enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it
I really enjoy your videos! Also loving the new van. I also wanted to ask what’s the brand of boots that Lynn is wearing in this video?Looks really good.
Lynn’s boots are Danner’s. I’ve been looking for a good hiking boot that has ankle support and love these boots. Thanks for watching.
Just found you guys on the tube. Love the down to earth look at your adventures. Look forward to looking back at some of the past vids. Do greatly appreciate your take on camping spots and how you deal with daily challenges. Best wishes on further adventures.
Glad you found us! And we’re glad you’re watching and connecting with us. Welcome to the traveling family!
Great tips! Love to see info on the Maxtrax install. Keep it going!
Pretty simple install. Purchased T-Bolts for the rails for the roof racks and bolted them through the MaxTrax holes on the drivers side of the a/c.
Cheers:)
Great video guys!!!
Thanks for extending Peter. Your inspired us to make this leap! 👍
Thank you. Great video. My Revel I got yesterday does not have that compartment under the passenger seat. :) um
That's crazy isn't it? 👍. We pack that compartment full. Sorry. What in there?
Luckily no one was injured. I've seen much worse damage from low impact collisions so I think the Revel took the impact well. Also, I don't think there's much that you could do differently except maybe consider switching to a different tire depending on terrain, like Michelin X-ice. Anyways, enjoy the warm weather 3 weeks can go by quick!
I do think the box and Sherpa on the back door helped us with the damage, it could have been a lot worse. Thanks for the tire suggestion. We appreciate your comment.
I always use the cup holders on the dash I put change sometimes I forget it I put foam on the bottom
I’m sure we will use them for something too, we need all the space we can get. Thanks so much for watching.
I like both vans that She and Me and Ya'll have. My wife and i are looking for a 19'. Would sure like a larger bathroom though.
I will not lie the bathroom is really small but it does work. Good luck on your search. Thanks for watching.
You guys are so adorable.
Maggie? She looks like she is half Border Terrier half muppet. ❤️
The vet says she is part Border Terrier, not sure what the other parts are.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle stockholder revolt!11
You might consider making the kitchen drawers deeper if there aren't obstructions in the cabinets. If you're not up that a cabinet/trim shop could do it. I'm talking about bringing the sides and back higher.
If you buy a light bar or add other lights up front be sure that they come with covers. Exposed aftermarket front lamps aren't legal in every state.
Happy travels.
Thanks so much for the information... the addition to the kitchen drawers would be awesome. It will be awhile before we add the lights but thank you for the heads up making sure we have covers.
Great info
Glad it was helpful!
Maggie just goes with the flow, she adapts well. Thanks for sharing your comment and watching.
The “ no top sheet” is the way to go. I discovered this sensible approach a couple years ago. So much easier skipping sheet straightening.I use a comfy duvet cover. That said, is there anything worse than getting a down comforter back into a cover. Save a marriage and do it solo.
I’m not sure why I haven’t done the no top sheet before. Thanks for the advice on the duvet cover. We appreciate your comment.
No, Owen doesn’t do #2 with the door open. But the max air fans do work well. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great thorough video….when the bed is upright and lifted does it cause issue with running the A/C and cooling the van?
You do have to lower the bed when you run the AC.
You two are so dang cute! Ty for the video.
Thank you, we appreciate your kind words.
Well... Lynn is cute... I'm just old and sometimes funny. 😆 Thanks for the kind words though!
Looking good! Do you think the trailer will be used when taking longer trips! I am still looking at that model for our LTV Unity for a big trip next summer.
Yes, I do think we will take the trailer in some cases. It does add a lot more storage but also constricts some places we might like to go.
NO NO NO!! ABC is always be cool, I have been telling my customers this for years, Your videos are great
Thanks for the correction on ABC, I have never heard of that, we may not be able to pull that one off. We appreciate you watching and for the comment.
With all the Mods now known understand why people buildout their own vans. This is a different kind of travel enjoy
It will be a different kind of travel for us. I agree that if you have to add mods it would make sense to build your own.
Pooping with a view! lol Love all the mods! Do you like the shorter van? Are you missing the extra space?
We do like the shorter van but yes we are missing the extra space.
The lack of insulation on the back it makes me wonder what else did they half you know what.
Makes us wonder too. Betting there's no insulation in any of the doors or even ceiling. Hate to rip every up to look though. 👍
For the insane price it is very disappointing to say the least.
Very nice
Thank you, we appreciate you watching.
Hope to meet ya'll someday. I may be asking more questions later. Thanks again.

Very true. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Does the window seat block the vents?
No, the window seat is open in the back so the vents have ventilation.
Dont forget you can always tow your trailer!
You are correct, we do like having the option to bring the trailer.
Greetings from Alabama. Nice job! You covered things that other folks haven’t. Do you carry bottled DEF or just buy it when you need it?
