Have just started watching your videos and really enjoy them. Have an 80 head cow calf operation in southern Alberta (plus 7 here today). Used to calve in January but go end of February March and April now. Alot of work and watching when you calve early like that! I use a MFWD 7600 John Deere no cab tractor for chores. Air conditioning works dam good this time of year but heater doesn't work worth a dam if you know what I mean! Been there done that too trying to deal with cold weather. Like watching all the different ways how you deal with things also in the cold. Love your saying about using liquid glow plugs! Keep up the good work! Don't weaken!!
Coming from interior Alaska, I sure appreciate your attitude towards animal care in winter conditions. What a great example you are setting for all the young people who follow you.
It's plenty cold here in Nebraska. Didn't get as much snow as first predicted but that's perfectly fine. You're doing a good job, gotta keep those new babies warm!
Hi from Northeastern Ontario! Cold here as well and Still trying to get corn off here (waiting on contractors to finish our grain dryer) but no where near as cold as you guys are there! Have loved your videos since my days I spent at ag college out in AB. Keep them coming!
Wishing you and the family a happy new year Nick. It's great to see your farm growing and you getting to update equipment. Take care and wish you a great farm season ahead from your buddy in eastern Washington State
Good god!! Just the thought of those temperatures make my knees hurt!! In 1998.....drove a JD A ...with a 45 loader....5 miles...to pull my mom's 85 Thunderbird outa the ditch....I was foze for day's after that sh@t
Our milk cows wouldn't go out of the barn in the extra cold weather. I agree with you about the cold temp, I still have to work on freezers that run between -35 and -51C. I suggest moving the farm to Miami Beach for the winter! Happy New Year!
Nick what do you use for a transmission heater? My 44 starts right up with the block heater plugged in, but takes forever to make any heat. I want to get a crossover hose made up for one remote to circulate hydraulic oil.
Growing up on a dairy when it got real bad, like -50 or so we would just leave the essentials running all night. Skid steer, tmr wagon tractor, FWA loader tractor. Easier to just burn some fuel than fight with stuff.
You should look into installing some radiant heaters in your barn, they would be much safer and your exhaust would be outside the building. You can run them on propane also. We use them and so far they have worked very well. Do you have any concerns about carbon monoxide built up in the barn with those type of heaters? Just wondering? Maybe enough fresh air is still able to get in?
I had trouble with my diesel heater starting in the cold. I'd take it in the shop for a bit and away it would go. An old boy told me to put a cup of gas in the diesel. I finally did that and it worked well.
Whats your temps up there in the great white north SSF ? , I have owned a fishing cottage in Flin Flon MB since 1973 for summer and fall trout fishing and pickerel as well , Only went up one time in the winter of 2002 and was -42 F when we got off the plane mother trucker i havent went back in winter ever again lol !
@SouthSaskFarmer1 i realize that, I try to keep equipment running in a western kansas cattle feedyard. When it gets below zero with wind we start gelling. We have 50/50 blend #1 and #2 diesel with antigen added. Still gave problems
Our 4440 was running our mixer wagon for a few weeks and dad was backing it out of the shed and hes known for his strength. He blew the little metering valve out of the poor thing and oil is all over the floor of the tractor now. ( he also broke the steering column pivot) idk how the fuck he managed that.
Well it was as hot as hell here yesterday. To hot to risk going into the paddock. 15mm of rain overnight and back to 25c today. Freezing our arses off today. Whats that in American? Nobody gives a shit!
I can tell you how to get a John Deere started in the morning. Just leave the old prick running all night in gear on blocks. That’s dam cold! Good job feeding the cows.,
Yeah and the reason they paint them green and yellow is if they break down on the 4th of July you can hide them in the goldenrod patch until it comes time in the winter to fix them
First!! Hey go check out the merch store got shit restocked mostly again!!south-sask-farmer.myshopify.com/?_ab=0&_fd=0&_sc=1

I know but it sure does look like snowmobiling weather people here in Ontario would kill for 😅 stay warm
18 in West Texas this am and I thought holy shit it's cold. Then I thought of you guys. I don't see how you guys do it.😂
Do you have any pull type combines left?
Yep the 1682
Love it...❤

Nothing says "Canadian farmer" like -50 temps and no gloves on. Ya wearing a wife-beater on too, Nick? LOL
I hope you didn't have to meet the Brandt rep in a random parking lot to get that new hat 😂

Add some kerosene to your heaters. It will thin the diesel out and burn better.
I put gas
Make a cheater hose on 1 hydraulic block and circulate your hydraulic oil and you will have power steering
G'day mates
How messed up am I .. I go do chores in -40 and than go in and eat lunch and watch you do chores in -50 haha
