Well the crazy and cool part is the sense of speed and the sounds are amazing but pans play midnight club 3 and use my car that Paul walker was supposed to use in fast in furious 2 the dodge neon srt4

I still believe that closing down Evolution studios is the single biggest mistake of Playstation
I mean did they completely throw away this tech too? This game engine that still 9 years later looks better than racing games that were released this year... It's crazy.
While would you not fire people if they are not making money for your company. This was the case for many years between Evo. and Sony, nobody wanted to end the relationship but it wasn't working out. Evo. and Sony's relationship was a long one with many ups and downs but the downs were way more than the ups
@@RCmies The IP as a whole is already shelved by Sony so yes, the studio didn't manage to secure their tech back. Which is why their subsequent games under Codemasters were entirely built from ground up using an all new engine, this time based on a partial software fork of EGO Engine, the F1 2016 game build in specific, as the basis.
What's even sadder is that the studio has gone through numerous corporate restructurings under both Codemasters and EA, and a great deal of the studio's key senior developers had left/fired from the studio already. Now, the studio has been entirely absorbed as one of Criterion Games' operational branches, albeit as a mere shell of its former self just like Criterion itself😢
PlayStation & Sony had a goldmine and a Dev that could rival Forza Horizon or other racing games at that time.
but they wasted it. fucking still hurts to this day.
Driveclub still looks amazing today. Disappointing we can only imagine what could have been if the developers were allowed to continue updating the game or make a sequel.

Driveclub had the BEST dynamic everything. The camera is perfect although bit too close. The graphics is showing its age. Whatever they did to make the game feel alive was excellent. Porject CARS 3 had it's DNA but not even close to its polish.
I loved this game. I played it last year and was gutted they removed all the DLC from the PSN Store, the one I wanted to play was the Sakura Japan DLC. I think you can buy a CD key from Italy, but it seemed a lot of effort to experience for a dead game.
Evolution Studios were the GOAT for this game and Motorstorm, I don't know what Sony were thinking closing them down.

Big love for driveclub now and forever. Spent lockdown getting screenshots of al the time trial leaderboards for posterity and smashing a few world records when i could. Those last 6 hours just racing around onling with all the old names back on the servers again, biblical stuff. And FFVincent if you're out there im sorry i broke your spirit over the coursse of driveclub by being better than you... and literally everone else online lmfaoooooo
Thank you for giving Driveclub some love. I adore the game. The VR version is a great immersive experience, not as good as GT Sport*, but still feels good. I regret not downloading all the DLCs when I had the chance. Even missing out on the Motorbike side of the game. Enjoy, brother. I'm primarily a PlayStation racer and I agree that this console is missing its "Forza" type racer. Driveclub had the polish and outline to be a huge community racing hub and yet still keep its distance from GT. For those looking for excitement beyond The Real Driving Simulator, this could have been it. Grid and NFS Shift franchises were good but never had the longevity built in like GT had. Driveclub was close... maybe too close, but this game was on another level. I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments towards its potential, and ultimate demise.
*GT Sport VR has higher fidelity in-car and trackside, but Driveclub VR trumps in atmosphere and sense of speed. Which, to me, are both more important in a VR racing experience.

Driveclub was passion, talent, world class programing, modeling and racing experience design.. today's games are unoptimized minimal viable products. GT7 is also in a transition to SONYs new "games as a service model" which is 🤬. New Forza is the same as the now 10 year old Forza 5 while running like a dog even on 4 TFLOPS Series S whilst DRIVECLUB manages all of this goodness, looking better than "raytracing" all on 1.84 TFLOPS of old GCN .... etc.

Apparently if you hack your PS5 you can run Driveclub at 60fps. So if you're willing to breach your PS5's warranty (and if your firmware is low enough) than you should be able to get the 60fps driveclub experience you're looking for on your setup

Driveclub ended like days gone IMO: both sold good (almost the same ammount) but both failled their lunch (messy and buggy). In fact Days Gone is basically dead whit the sequel cancelled but, I think, whit this being Bent sutdio's first actuall console game they, instead, got a second chance whit a new ip but on the other side Driveclub was evolution studio's 10th game and so they instead got fired and closed (this is all speculation to clarify). As for future the only thing I heard in the internet is that tom henderson on 2021 said that mabie a new motorstorm by the twisted metal devs was on their minds

It is absurd that all the dlc content for this game is completely wiped of the face of the earth unless you already have it installed on your console and you have to endure the extremely annoying "You're not online" pop up in front of your view which just makes it feel like you're playing a beta or a demo of a game. Imagine paying full price for this game and years later you go and play it and you have this unavoidable pop up in front of the screen that you can't remove. I wanna buy a cheap copy of this game and play it but man those two things. No access to DLC and the pop up is a deal breaker for me. If it was free sure whatever I'll deal with it, but not paying to deal with that.

Car list is still a banga and I have special edition which I pre ordered and all the dlc (which is de listed) it’s a shame we never got next Gen drive club 2. Great channels always Mr Pants
God I wish I had any of the DLC. That said, the base game still has it. I've been spending my time lately driving my MX-5 through Iceland (often with the Driveclub soundtrack on), and it's shocking how close DC got to the experience of actually driving somewhere beautiful.

The T300RS is plug and play and has force feedback. Played Driveclub on two accounts and both finished them with the platinum trophy. Best game ever.
For some reason the game feels awful on wheel to me, almost as its undrivable, can you share your setup/settings? I'm using a T150 but your advice will probably still be useful

DRIVECLUB and Horizon should not be compared. They’re two completely different types of racing games. Project Gotham is a better comp, but unfortunately people just are not into these types of games these days. Real shame, because the linear-closed-track experience truly brings out the best in racing games. Open worlds are overrated.

What’s crazy about this game is that in manual cars you can actually see your character shift through the gears and see their feet working the pedals to your exact inputs. It’s what I’ve loved about this game, I honestly think the game was way ahead of its time and yet PlayStation killed possibly the only game that could’ve competed with GT. I’ve had more fun in Driveclub than any other game, the weather, the noises, the graphics, the detail in every car is ridiculous. I’d gladly pay all the money to have this game remastered and be available for Xbox and PC. Evolution had all the chances of becoming PlayStations version of Playground studios.

This is exactly why I chose not to get a ps5 cuz truth is Sony don't really care about racing game fans at least on xbox you can count on forza horizon and forza motorsport so you get Sim and arcade racing on xbox plus 3rd party games so glad I got a xbox series x
Man says wheel is better with Sims than arcade games, the there is me who gets my wheel working perfectly in Forza horizon but can't get it to work in Assetto Corsa 😅

2024 and even today I believe Drive Club is hands down one of the best looking racing games wish sony gave the game a chance and maybe said hey the online aspect isn't working out do something else with the game.

Oh man Driveclub 😫. This is the only physical copy game that I didn't sell when I had to sell my PS5, and will never sell especially since it's no longer purchasable on the PS Store.
Driveclub is definitely one of the best games that Sony put on their console.

Why don't you use your power and fame especially in the car game community, push to do collaborative work and get the best gaming studios under one roof like imagine what ideas could be passed around and make one solid car game that works similarly to how the people who run Fortnite, like nobody thought it would be what it is today if you weren't a firm believer in the company. It's free but people who support them through "skins" which is what NFS is clearly doing now with these custom kits for cars AKA the "skins". The amount of collaborations and continuous support goes an even longer way over making one game after the other and have people like the majority of us who love NFS can stop complaining and comparing previous titles to the newer stuff, it's so dumb
Pants. Take the racing sim to the next level by using the chassis of an actual car to create the ultimate racing sim(even tho you can drive irl but still).
