- A friend of mine asked me to tape him putting Sea Foam engine cleaner in his 2004 Subaru WRX. I had to laugh because a neighbour walked over to ask if he blew his turbo! Lot's of smoke that's for sure!
We get it, you vape.
The exhuast isn't what causes the sound produced in the video.. Its the fact the engine is horizontally opposed pistons combined with an unequal length header that creates this unique sound.
That white smoke is a lot of fun. I put some Sea Foam in my lawn mower as a prank for Mom when she starts it up hehehe. When I had a Dodge Neon it smoke just as bad as that Subaru when Sea Foamed. It was the first time I used that stuff in my car and so the white smoke was a surprise. It smoked up the garage and I am glad Mom was not home or she would have smacked me for that. Now when I do that, I take the car or anything getting Sea Foamed part way down the driveway and that keeps the house from getting smoked up. I would be especially careful now that I have recently got a cat. It is a black one with yellow eyes. I named her Jinx and she is a very pleasant cat.
+John Doe like for the cat.
Zapablast05 It is my first cat but another one comes around. It looks like a younger cat (possibly still a kitten). I think my cat is spayed so I don't expect any kittens from it. Mine is around 3 years old and will come up on the bed while I sleep and follow me around at times. I think I know whos cat that other one is but I don't know for sure. I just try to chase it away before my cat finds it. Cats will fight each other unless they grew up together. They don't like other cats invading their territories.
+John Doe sounds a lot like my black cat. they say black cats are incredibly smart regardless of what mix they are. they're loving and nice. my two cats get a long but fight at times.
+John Doe You make your Mom cut the grass?
This is for people that care for long term and top performace of their engine. For folks that dont have a catch can on their turbo charged engine, it clears gunk build up in lines. Restored my air fuel ratio to a optimal range. Mk5 GLI 200k miles 24lbs boost.
Orlando Sanchez never had any issues with the turbo after?
SeaFoam is great in turbo Subies. I use it every oil change in my 04 and now 05 Forester XT. It's also great stuff to find exhaust leaks, lol.
@Boii2008 If the smoke is white, it's simply moisture in the cylinders and nothing to worry about. But if the smoke has a light blue tint to it, it's oil. So you really want to keep an eye on the oil level so it doesn't get too low and ends up hurting the engine. Also, if it burns on start ups, from sitting or from a stop light, it's probably the valve seals. The reason is because oil sits in the head when ideling, then on start up, it's sucked in the cylinders and burned. Hope this helps.
@Boii2008 im not mechanic diagnosic but generaly when smoke poors out of the exaust its usualy means your burning oil. witch is totaly understandable with a 98' vehicle, especialy if its a daily driver. wear and tear takes its tolls.
It's a product called Sea Foam Engine Cleaner. Can be purchased at your local automotive parts store. Cleans the carbon and stuff out of the motor.
Ah, I see you attached a vape to the exhaust manifold. Good job.
LOL
Now me and the mad scientist gotta rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried!
That WRX is super clean
to prove if this worked take a spark plug out and borescope into the cyl head to see if the pistons were before and and after the test.
Yes that would work but since the Subaru has a flat four this would be a tedious job
Randomthing1222 Then its pure proof that seafoam doesnt work.
it works
Michael Langley that's not how proof works.
I've used seafoam for years... And put in so many cars. Between friends family and my own cars. Nothing has ever had a problem.
@Boii2008 i know this is old, but i would say for most cars it sounds like valve seals. but for a turbocharged car, it could be the turbo. if the impeller shaft or the bearing is worn, oil will leak past it and into wherever. intake or exhaust.
@Boii2008 #2 your prob. with acceleration at higher RPM's then the kick of power when you shift is because "valve float" is occurring which means when your RPM's are raising at some point (some or all) your valves are not in constant contact with your camshaft and become out of time causing loss of power....check your valve springs they may be loose and need to be replaced
I seafoamed my e32 750il, it starts quicker now (used to crank a little while before starting), idles around 550rpm rather than 800rpm and acceleraccelerates quicker...
Look at the guys jacket! Definitely a subu driver haha if ya catch my drift:)
You can also use a metho & water combo, spraying it into TB with car running at 1500-2000rpm
What’s the ratio of water to metho.....?
@Boii2008 Hey i can give you my prediction (if you haven't figured it out yet) #1smoking on first start up usually means oil coming from the valves....check your "valve seals" they regulate a specified amount of oil to lube the "valve stem" without allowing too much oil into the combustion chamber. but if your seals are loose then wile the engine is at rest oil leaks into the "valve guide" and rests on the valve face itself and on first start up it all goes into the combustion causing smoke
hey what exhaust do you have on the wrx cause it sounds real nice
I have never used seafoam in any car i own and they all run just fine.
REALLY nice hd cam. It seems to have image stabilization.....does it? Also what model Vixia do you have? Thanks!
@Boii2008 I'm not a mechanic by any means but I would suspect you might have a small oil leak somewhere. Do you regularly check your oil levels? Best of luck man!
wow that sooby looks so clean
that looks like Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust which is pretty good for its performance, its not an exhaust tip.
I have a 2004 Subaru Wrx as well and since i have a BOV (BlowOff Valve) will that ruin it and how often should i put that in
You have to use the whole bottle ? sorry i know this video is old
that exhaust sounds sick! what is it?
Greenski subaru impreza. subaru have special boxer engine thats why it has that unique rumble
Andy Martin its actually the unique exhaust. engine is not what produces sound . look at Engineering Explained he shows the exhaust configuration to get that rumble. :)
Haga Rada yea its the unequal length headers made possible because of the boxer engine the exhaust is located flat underneath thats why its the subaru rumble. all 4 headers meet at the passenger side instead of the middle and go to the uppipe into the turbo making the car sound like it has uneven cylinder firing like a muscle car. i got one sitting in my garage very unique car
lol looks like ur the doctor feeding the engine medicine
@Boii2008 i relise this was posted a year ago but im guessing it was a turbo, or a worn piston ring causeing low compression?
That is the greatest thing I have ever ever seen I love this rice rocket.
The Seafoam website clearly states that introducing the motor treatment to the vacuum line is not recommended in Subaru four-cylinders because it doesn't distribute evenly to all cylinders. Have you experiences any side effects from this since you did pour it into the vacuum line?
Was that the break booster line you put it in ? Do you have to do it that way becouse of the turbo ?
@Boii2008 Yea you should get that checked you may be burning some oil.
U don't need nothing if u do oil change and use only 89/93 gasoline.
I have a 2003 nissan maxima I bought 4 years ago and it still like new(I got luck, because the ex owner was the first owner of that car and he takes care of it).
I never did timing chain, head gasket, valve gasket...
I have the exact same problem at this moment in my 02 WRX!.. PLease let me know what you did to fix it! Id really appreciate it!
My favorite sound
Nothing sound better than a '66 GTO..js
times have changed, watch an UPDATED video on my channel of how to sea foam.. works for all makes/models
Yeah I'll be doing this at night lol
You got some chicken wire caught in your rear bumper.
@hideyourkidshidewife I'm going to let the owner of the car answer that one. He seemed happy with it though. Hopefully I can get him to answer in the next few hours.
That is 1 clean and beautiful subie but I would get wider rims and tires
Its burning mineral oil that causes all the smoke.
Is that the stock body or is that an aftermarket kit?
I like to do it this way, add a 1/3 to the tank, 1/3 to the oil pan, and the rest to the vacuum line, at the last little bit poor a good amount in to kill the engine. Start it up, and let it run out.
did you notice any loss of oil after running seafoam thru your turbo engine?
body kits on a wrx. :C
lol at people with no idea what seafoam is thinking theyre ruining the car
Explain exactly what you think it does and how this affects your car
probably the hottest wrx ive seen on youtube
Did your car feel better.
Where did you get the sticker on your left sidemirror ?
Water works better for decarbonizing
Did the idle and throttle response got better?
What rear bumper is that? it's really nice.
Is the engine shut down it self??
How many miles were on it when this was done?
Does Sea Foam actually work and should I add it to my gas tank every time I change oil and is Lucas better than Sea foam?
Love that boxer rumble!
This cannot possibly be safe for the turbine wheel, or at least if done regularly!
check head gasket. Does it overheat at all?
Did you have any problems after doing this?
Done it in 3 cars, no problems.
my 04 Tacoma had no smoke at all...used a whole bottle. 95k miles
IWBVS what line did you pour it in ?
fast and furious quote i believe.
Is that the stock body?
So, water goes in, most of it is drawn across the intake to 1 or 2 cylinders only and pumped into the exhaust where it takes ages to leave as steam so during the steam no cleaning is really going on. Waste of cash guys.
I am glad its your rex and not mine!
+Greg Lee Why?
man I wish all you haters could see the progress I have made on this car now.
looks way different. so before you hate check out my instagram profile
@longhairhippy
Is it recommend to seafoam a low milage car??
how much of it did he put in the vacuum line? I am going to do this to my car Friday
seafoams recommends 1/3 in vacum line, 1/3 in gas and 1/3 in oil, also when doing it thru the vacum keep the engine reving constantly at 1500-2000
Just blew my 04 WRX after seafoam. Seadfoamed my blazer blew up seafomed the wrx blew up?
@Boii2008 just out there from the dsm world white smoke could be a head gasket
whoa. thats my car! i cant belive the original owner has a video of this.
What exhaust is this?
Instead of regular maintenance by changing the oil and fitting a catch-can, just pour branded kerosene into your engine
Really? how does that work using kerosene cause I do clean alot of things with kerosene but I had never thought about using it that way.
Javi d C I was being sarcastic! Please don't pour kerosene into your car! I was trying to make a point that seafoam (basically kerosene) isn't better than regularly maintaining your car with oil and filter changes. Fitting a catch can can help prevent carbon build-up in the first place! The best way to get rid of carbon build-up is by pulling it apart and cleaning it, even going for a high RPM drive will sort most out to some degree in a more reliable, safer option than this
Hahahaa, ok thx I was just dumbfounded by your comment but now I get your sarcasm.
Shea Syverson I agree completely.
It takes about 5 miles of driving time for the smole to stop.
Is it safety???
what exhaust is that
@lue1975lue - My friend is very careful with his vehicles and he wants to make sure it runs in top condition!
what front and rear bumper is that?
someone call the cops!
BEAUTIFUL CAR!!!
Thats cool you made this vid now i know what to do.
haha you can hear the subi getting pissed
what body kit is this?
Bahaha nice F&F refrence
What tube was he using to spray the sea foam in?
T
what does it do and hows itwork
Nice exhaust
sir thats a muffler, not an exhaust tip.. and the Subaru WRX is a nice car. maybe the style isn't your taste but everyone has their own opinions
How not to clean your engine with Seafoam.
***** Except the part of the video where he shuts the car off...did you even watch before commenting?
he edited out the 20min shut off to not waste peoples time
Love your WRX :)
pouring that in kinda fast, lucky you didnt hydrolock the motor.
Does it work?
Nice car mate!
Anyone know the exhaust?
Why on such a new car?
and this should be good for the enginge? why?
Great video
it was close to a few smoke rings lol
Makes a lot of smoke. So would pouring kerosene. Try putting a carboned up valve in a jar of Seafoam . let it sit for a week and see what doesn't happen.
seafoam has shown to cause damage to any mile cars
Had a old van was tuning it up and seafoam knocked so much shit loose my van wont run clogged carb
jerry bartlett if your vehicle has a carb you already have a problem lol
