Chris Brayley that's a true mate there is nothing wrong with a man that has a cry over some one they have lost or are going through hard times only a real man cries
You can see why the Broncos of Gordies era were one of the best teams of all time. They cared about each other like family, they bled for each other and never let their mate down.
They also played off emotion which is why I’m not surprised that Gordie broke down when talking about Kevvie’s proud moment of giving his son billy his storm jersey along with his personal struggles.
I’m South African and only just recently started watching league. One thing I see is how tight the league players are, truly like brothers. Fking love the brotherhood!
Seriously?? Craig expresses positivity for Tallis here, and in light of Finchy saying this is bigger than a game of footy, you punch out some mindless rhetoric? Not enough men are in touch with their emotions, Tallis just showed even "tough" blokes are able to cry, it's great for everyone no matter if they bleed Maroon, Blue, or whatever. Plus, we are all green & gold, don't forget. Now go crawl back into your hole, from another Blues supporter.
@@gregwalker9506 You understand, well said. Gordon I never liked, but you can't fault the man here, no matter your allegiances. westsideAUKILANI take your comment back to any other State Of Origin clip where it would be appropriate, not appropriate here at this time.
Im a new South Wales diehard and disliked Gordy when he played but Seeing Gordy cry made me cry also. Him crying for his mate shows how much of a good bloke he is . Much love Gordy ❤️
Damn you know it’s a real emotional heart touching moment that meant a lot to the Walters family when you see one of the hardest men in the league break down like that. Congratulations to the Walters family for such an achievement. Tough men that think it’s not manly to cry have been Humbled after watching this.
Kevin Walters lost his wife to cancer, she died on Christmas Day many years ago. He raised his three sons as a single Dad. He’s since remarried, but it’s still incredibly raw for all involved. Gordon is a lovely bloke. He said whenever I needed help or a job he’d always be there for me. Used to work with I’m at ch9.
Been listening to a few Gordy podcast interviews over the last couple of days (Bloke in a Bar, Andy Raymond) where he described how he'd have to become another version of himself in order to compete at the highest level of a very violent sport. He's a deep fella and, as far as I'm concerned, a total fkn sweetheart. Top man.
Probably one of the most heartbreaking and satisfying years at the Broncos was 1998. With Kevvie losing his wife to breast cancer in 1998 he became a single father with Billy only 4 years old. Craig Bellamy joined the Broncos in 1998 to work under Wayne Bennett, the team managed to secure the premiership and with Gordie winning the Clive Churchill medal. Qld also won the State of Origin that year.....Your a champion Gordie and a true friend..
Wow didn’t know Kevy was a single dad for a long time... That is his greatest achievement 🙏🏽 Awesome to have a Dad do that for pure love for his children... Legend Kevy absolutely bigger then sport..
I've met Gordy quite a few times, and he's always a gent. But i just teared up myself , as I have only just seen this today. The panel really looked after him there. Class . Respect.
One of the all time Hard men in rugby league shows that we’re all human.. good to see how proud he is not only of Billy getting a Jersey but of what a fine job Kevy did aswell
True strength is toughness and compassion White is nothing without black Laughter without sadness The wonderful contrasts that make life real and good I’ve always admired Gordon Tallis
One of my queensland heros. Gordon, bloody awesome mate! it's encouraging to us bloke to see a tough guy like you shared tears. I guess it speak volume to a lot of men that it's alright to cry/tears because strong bloke does. QLDER! 2019
If someone doesnt shed a tear while seeing this, your not human. Ive never seen Gordy like this before and dont quite know why he was crying, but it made me tear up a bit also. So glad Kevvie was the one to bring the Broncos back to where they belong now though 👊
Kevin's wife died when their kids were young. So his son Billy would be at his dad's Broncos training sessions from a very young age and probably got close to some of the players. Gordy being one. Then talking about Billy's debut in the NRL it hit Gordy in the feels
Billy was around the older broncos players after his mum died and Kevvy became a single dad. He’s proud of both Billy and Kevvy for their success and how far they’ve come
Hate to say it I'm a Newcastle boy through and through, but you are a Rugby League Icon and a Big man with a Huge heat and alot of honour, and just show how much it means to you.
I watched Billy Walters play against St George. Good defender, good kicking game (tricky conditions second half with a strong wind at the Storm's back). Billy made some classic one on one tackles, good passing game. Goes to the line and wants to get involved...a genuine 1st grader. A very good first game in the top league. Congratulations Billy, go get em...young man. It's good to see the big fella...Gordie shed a tear and show his emotions. For a good mate and the Walters family. Now this is where I lose a few viewer's...haha. Let's hope Kevvie and the boy's, can roll there sleeves up, and get the job done on Wednesday night.
Tallis is one of the hardest men ever to play NRL. What you are seeing is a man's love for another man knowing full fell what he went through and how he kept it together during the season.
RIP Kevin respect to you, single dad for a wee while and one of the best ever footy players in the game, also respect to Gordon such kind words obviously a great and very close friend.
...And that is why Gorden was such a tough guy that fought all the time on the field cause he had passion and wore his heart on his sleeve. A true blue block!
We can put our thoughts and feelings away in a box, but they never leave. At certain times they resurface, life gets real. Gordy just showing love for his brother, that's a good mate right there.
Gordon Tallis is an absolute legend. He doesn’t smoke & never taken drugs. Tells it as it is. One of the most honest down to earth blokes involved in Rugby League... you can take the boy out of Townsville, but not Townsville out of the boy 👊 Daniel Harnden “little Upper Ross boy”...
When genuine tough men show emotion it's a privilege to be able to witness it. As someone else comments he played off his emotions and thats what made him such a good player.
