    i made a cp shampoo bar then shredded 1 bar (3.25oz) once i pulled them from the molds. i added sci and sala noodles and pressed the new (hybrid) bar in a hand press mold. got 3.5 additional bars and the bubbles are crazy. this cuts the cost substantially. this is my new go to shampoo bar recipe. im so happy i decided to experiment.

    Tammy, so cool to see a video on shampoo bars. There really aren't that many videos out there on shampoo bars. You'll probably get quite a few views, as people are curious about them and want to know if they really work. I find once people buy them they never go back to liquid shampoo. They are very handy to have, especially if you travel a lot. I offer mine in tins or packaging.. people who travel like the tins. I always tell people to let them dry out a bit before putting them back in the tins, and they seem to last.
    Anyway glad to relax after a whole day of making coffee face scrub and oatmeal facial scrub. It's 11:30 at night and I just got to bed to watch you. I gotta nother long day tomorrow, lol!

      Jill! thank you for your comments! I did at one time offer the travel tin, but got away from that as I was having trouble with my inventory on my website (it was an optional upgrade). I am thinking of either having its own order page to add or to just not give the option and put every one in a tin... also my shampoo bar sizes may be changing, so I will have to source other tins first...no I'm thinking lol - I have already sold these and have been trying to find time to make more
      Your scrubs sounds amazing!! I love the idea of both coffee and oatmeal...I bet they sell well for you! I want to make lip scrubs but have never been happy with mine in the past, gonna try Soy & Shea's recipe to see if that works for what I am wanting...I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!!💖

    Most of our professional salons are looking for sulphate free products. It doesn’t strip color nor penetrate the hair dresser’s skin that is constantly working with them. Can a bar be made with out it ?

    HI, so nice to meet you. I had purhcased LisaLise's book and had not made anything from it yet so you inspired me. Tonight I made the African Rose. It seemed very wet in comparison to what I am use to. It is in the freezer now so I am thinking it is going to take quite awhile to dry. Are yours this wet? I am sure it is the vinegar.

      HI Tamara! Nice to meet you too! I do find a lot of the recipes to be wetter - I have pretty much given up trying to "press" them and have gone to using molds only. But I have made that recipe, I'm trying to remember how wet it was but I do know that it turned nice and hard for me.

    Hey, thank you for sharing. I am new to DIYing. I just have a few questions if you don’t t mind answering.1. How would you test the pH of these? 2. How do you know what surfactants to use?

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ornella! To test the pH of these you would need to melt a bit in some distilled water - about 10% shampoo bar to 90% distilled water. Once is it completely dissolved you can then test the pH. As for surfactants, that is a longer conversation. You want usually 2 or 3 as most surfactants don't do everything you want in a shampoo bar. Then you want to see what you are going for - are you looking for mild cleaning (sulfate free) or are you going for a deep clean or clarifying (sulfate). Those are some the of considerations. Then do you want liquid or dry is another. Lastly you probably want to look at the charge (anionic, cationic). It's a lot - I would recommend starting with a recipe and then tweak it from there. Good Luck (and I never mind the questions!💖)

    What’s the difference between SCI and SCS?

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sami, the SCI is a very gentle sulfate free surfactant with a low pH. The SCS is also pretty gently but it is a sulfate (so gives a deeper clean) and has a higher pH. They work lovely together!😊

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique

      The Zesty Cedarwood is my take on the Conditioning recipe / the Green Clean is the same Green Clean in the book
      I will say that the 2 ladies that wrote the book I bought had a bit of a split, so the Green Clean is not in the new book at all. There are only about half the recipes in the new book as there was in the book I bought. If you don't have Green Clean in your book you will know you bought the newer version.🙄

    Wow! Love your videos! I’ve made shampoo bars but haven’t found a recipe for fine hair. The recipes I’ve used have called for cetearyl alcohol or BTMS 50 and weigh my baby fine hair down. Is there a particular recipe in the book for fine hair? Just wondering if it would be worth it for me to buy the book. Thanks and please keep these videos coming, I always look forward to them! 💗

      Hi Sue! Oh thank you so much for your sweet comments - I'm so pleased you are enjoying them! 💖💖💖 - I am looking in the ebook for you. There are actually several recipes that do not have either cetearyl alcohol, or BTMS, but they do contain a butter. There are also a couple with SCI only with no butters at all. Those might work for you. This was the most expensive ebook I bought last year, so certainly was an investment. Also the testing was pretty expensive...but I will say that after I got the hang of them, I now can pretty much take a recipe, make my changes and get it them to work for me with no real issues. Feel free to ask me questions if you get the book! We can share notes!😊
