Here is how my time in the Merrell Vapour Glove 3 minimalist shoes have gone. These have been worn near enough daily whilst walking the gym floor but haven't seen much use as a dedicated minimalist training shoe. Although a very comfortable shoe the Vapour Glove 3's barefoot shoe don't come without issue.

Can't say my knowledge goes back 7 years but my earlier Merrell's were better despite the tread
Seems like they’re very expensive in the UK, in the US they were around $75, and often you could get them on sale for $50
and these are some of the cheaper 'barefoot' shoes on the market in the UK
I have the Vapor Glove 5’s. I’ve put about 500 miles on them and the uppers have held up beautifully with zero wear and tear. I’ve worn down a few of the small lugs on the outsole so I put a bit of shoo goo over them. Hope they’re good for another 500 as these have been my favourite pair of shoes ever.
Maybe Merrell added some quality control from the 4 to the 5

The Merrells are full leather unlike the Adidas plastic so you have to factor that in as well.
indeed, I suppose my jib at barefoot shoes are the category in general. Take the Vivobarefoots which are recycled plastic and they are coming in at high prices.
They aren't made in enough quantity to get the price down. It's not about the amount of material used.
Would you reckon the profit margins are that tight?
I just bought these, AFTER watching your videos. I'll only be using them on asphalt to train for a 48H race. I'll do walking at first work my way up to 5k tops, then gradually start to run in them but I'm probably not gonna go past 5k. Hope they look better in 9 months, though! :D Maybe if I do 300-400k in that time they will look even worse - time will tell lol. I'm fine with separation from the glue, I could glue them back. Also paid 75 pounds for them
Hopefully yours will fair better. It may be the way my gait is that causes the separation and yours will be different. I wish you the best on your 48H race!

@@kidoscopic Foarte multumit, am cateva zeci de km in ei, e o bucurie sa i porti, te simti conectat la suprafata pe care pasesti. Arata inca la fel ca noi. Scoteau un zgomot de slap la inceput dar a disparut, probabil din cauza ca erau putin mai lungi decat piciorul. Normal port 45, dar am luat 44,5 ca astia minimalisti asa sunt, mai mari.

Yeah pretty much. They are still holding out physically but the colour is fading ever more
Can't really get that refund if you don't buy direct from merrell. So wearing out after such a short time makes these a no buy.
Yes, I suppose getting a refund outside of 28 days from a 3rd party supplier may be more difficult. Hopefully your research has saved you from a potential unhappy purchase.

ultraboost are the best. i had them for 3yrs now.... ran a lot. still going strong.
I cannot deny the ultraboost were good shoes. They just didn't suit other forms of activity besides running/walking.
Yeah, I get what you're saying about pricing, but the thing is, these companies price the shoes based on how much people are willing to pay for them. There are 2500 euro water filters that cost 50 euros to make, but the marketing gets people.
I appreciate companies make a profit. But yeah, bugs me about the pricing.
