so many great points! SO crazy that liza did the met gala just after leaving the vlog squad and emma also did the met gala just after leaving the sister squad.
I love this podcast I think I’ve literally listened to 5 episodes in the last 2 days. Love the way you guys explain things and listen to one another. So thoughtful all around!
Everyone is saying that she’s not relatable anymore and that’s a big reason she’s receiving hate, but it’s not like she’s trying to advertise herself as being relatable?? She literally just talks about her experiences and that is completely fine. Most influencers are not very relatable so why we are holding her to that standard I will never understand.
I am a millenial and i never really heard of Emma until this past summer, it started with her Met Gala Again video, had no idea who she but i was hooked, just felt like she could be my little sister and how real she was, I am a big fan of Emma and i think she is hilarious and serious at the same time.
i love emma as a creator and 100% agree no creator is gonna make the same content for years esp if they started at 17. i truly think emma is done creating on socials and will move to work on fashion and her coffee exclusively or other big business ventures. her podcast has received a lot of criticism lately (I don’t listen to the pod) so I can see that dropping off possibly as I heard it’s mostly her rambling about life? she’s said many times how TH-cam & TikTok aren’t for her atm and it’s been years. She posted recently on youtube but i saw people saying it’s so Adsense doesn’t go or it can be because of all the recent talk about her podcast on tiktok. everyone’s path is different and yes she’s passed “relatability” a long time ago but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy her ventures in fashion or her brand ☺️ i always see cocoa talking about how relatability is gonna die out and it’s true because any tiktoker who becomes big instantly becomes unrelatable when they are on a red carpet. why do we expect influencers to be relatable when they are in a Forbes list 😭!
I started watching her when she posted her first video and was sold ever since. I really don’t know what it was exactly but we are the same age (a week apart) so can imagine in my 16 year old brain that made me intrigued to see someone at the same stage of life as me do what she did. I loved seeing how she lived and how she didn’t care what people thought of her and had integrity in who she was at home and in public. I believe that a lot of people garnered that same type of connection with her that I did. Even though we’re both 22 now and at outrageously different stages and environments in life even considering our opinions and beliefs being wildly different, I’ve still kept up with all her videos and LOVE her style and creative content even more than before. It feels like that one best friend you had in high school but drifted yet still check their socials to see how they’re doing and only proud of them no matter what the differences. Whatever her content turns into I will always keep up with her and support her ventures. That’s the kind of relationship she has built with her audience. She holds a place of respect in my life with how seriously she’s taken her role and that she continues to stay self aware about her impact. All in all, even if she’s not your cup of tea (which is totally fine) she has done an incredible job with staying true to her values and being responsible in her position especially for a 22 year old. Can’t wait to see her continue to grow 🎉
I found this show a couple months ago & love it so much!!! Would love to see a specific episode on the men of TH-cam (Shane Dawson, Brent Rivera, Mr. Beast, David Dobrik, etc) and how/why they rose to fame and have stayed popular for extended amount of time… Also, would love to see an episode on why so many TH-camrs/influencers are starting podcast and if you think that that would be successful for them in the long run.
Derek Blasberg, also, helped Ashley (best dressed) get into New York fashion week. Interesting that he was helping different TH-camrs enter that realm.
I think that her audience was who labeled her as “relatable.” Which was really the wrong way to describe her and they inadvertently put her in a box. The correct word should have been “authenticity” So she is the same person but her environment changed and that changes that context of how she’s perceived. Because even when she’s at these high profile events, she is being transparent about what it’s like and how she feels. I think that’s what she’s been trying to reclaim with her podcast. To drive home the point that she’s trying to be honest with her audience about her experiences. Which may or may not be relatable to the listeners but being honest about HER experience. Which interestingly enough she’s seems to be pivoting there as well. Either way her career path has been really fascinating.
Loved the video! Could yall do one for Jenna Marbles? I would love to hear your thoughts, and opinions about her and how she was able to blow up and maintain it for 10+ years
I honestly haven’t paid attention to Emma since like 2017. It may be because I’m a little bit older but I personally don’t find her interesting, or necessarily as big of a star as she thinks she it. And I really don’t mean that in a shady way at all. I just keep up with a lot of pop culture and watch TH-camrs because I work alone and have too much idle time but your videos are genuinely the first time I’m hearing about her since like the random Met gala stuff and even that was in passing and forgettable.
You’re either A) lying to yourself or B) coming to the conversation in bad faith if you think that millions upon millions of dollars wouldn’t change someone, Emma included.
I’ve been watching her since 2017 even before she was known & I promise you she’s still the same. Ofc people change with money & all but her personality has not, it’s only evolved (:
42:12 respectfully I hate it like to me, Mr. Beast is the antithesis of what YT is meant to be. But he’s not required to fit that mold and he makes bank so. Just seems like an incredibly unfulfilling way to make $
You know your a good creator when you can make someone who cant sit through a two minute tiktok watch a 52 minute video 😭💀
STOP you just made our entire day🥹. I hope you stick around
so many great points! SO crazy that liza did the met gala just after leaving the vlog squad and emma also did the met gala just after leaving the sister squad.
Yes!! I don't think it's a coincidence at all. They wanted to invest in creators that could be a solo act and host the Met gala on their own
I love this podcast I think I’ve literally listened to 5 episodes in the last 2 days. Love the way you guys explain things and listen to one another. So thoughtful all around!
you're so nice to each other i love that 😭😭

You guys are the best analyzers that I have ever seen!!!😂😂

It’s timeeeee 🥲🥹
I tried listening to her podcast but her advice and audience was more for high school and that was years ago for me.
