Not going to lie - once I finally saw the outcome of this video, I laughed even harder than I normally do! I will admit - it was kinda fun to shoot the reveal video. Even funnier when someone recognized her from her channel - first time ever!
100% depends on my mood. If I'm feeling ambitious and fresh, I start with the hardest part. Otherwise, I start with the easiest and end with the hardest.
Yes I'm late to the party watching this lol. I might have just squealed a little when Stephanie choose that fabric, I remember sending her the sellers eBay account after I made my purchases. I needed someone else to buy stuff so I didn't go back for thirds 😂 This actually came from Ohio estate of a 101 year old award winner quilter & seamstress, I just love knowing stories that go along with the items I buy ♥ you're just so fricken adorable and I luuuuv me some vintage sewing!
I'm chuckling to myself. You share that you haven't used many vintage patterns. I have, except it was when they were new! What a fun collab. Thanks to you both.
I've only ever seen one video from Stephanie and, based on that, I was expecting her to send you just the pattern pieces and instructions from an envelope-less pattern...so it could be a real mystery result! LOL
The image of your hair, the gold lame dress and your long-tailed friend was stunningly beautiful. Good job on the dress. Now I know why I flunked home ec!
I love the scalloped neckline. Would love to see it with a contrasting colour to really stand out.Thank you for the introduction to Stephanie. Going to go watch her videos Love your videos like usual.
It’s the scalloped collar for me. The print and the bodice (minus the scalloping) remind me so much of what I consider my grandmother’s signature look. I absolutely love it! 😍
You are gorgeous. Your channel has gotten me into so much fashion and sewing exploration. I now sew my own dresses and you are such an inspiration for that journey.
Your GOLD LAME TOP IS SO GOOD. Thank you for sharing how you pattern grade! That's one thing I've never actually learned, and it's gonna be so helpful in the future! This dress turned out SO pretty, and I actually really love the skirt on you! As much of a big voluminous skirt fan I am, now I'm like... ooh maybe I SHOULD try to make myself a cute slimmer skirt dang it.
I was so excited when I found that robe on Etsy...larger vintage pieces are so hard to find. You'll have to let me know how it goes after you try it out. Right...I'm coming around to slimmer skirts a little! We need to get a collab on the schedule too! ❤️❤️❤️
I came to your channel through Stephanie Canada. And your dress is awesome. For some reason it just looks like something Jane Jetson would wear. So I look forward to seeing more of your videos and I subscribed with all notifications so I don't miss anything.
Thank you for visiting my lil corner of the internet and a big thanks for subscribing! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Now that you say that I would totally agree and Jane Jetson has always been one of my favorite style icons...now if only I could get Rosie to clean for me :D
OMG I'm LIVING for your updo with the lame ensemble. Do you have a tutorial for it? (fingers crossed, hoping hoping hoping). The final dress looked fabulous on you. WTG getting outside your comfort zone. * applause *
Aw...thanks! I don't, it actually was a struggle bus to figure out what I wanted to do with my hair and what it would do buuuuuuut it's a great idea for a hair tutorial :D
Thank you for doing this! I often watch Stephanie and after seeing her agonize over doing your challenge, I had to visit yours and so glad I did. Count me in as subscriber though not a vintage enthusiast, I am a historic costumer who loves TH-cam sewing videos. You did lovely work and look charming in your dress with that stunning collar! Good job!
I'm so glad you liked it! So funny...I loooooove watching historic sewing videos! They are so inspiring! I love that collar so much I'm probably going to make a full skirt version of this especially since the hard work is already done! lol
I love the dress and it looks stunning on you!! I loved this collaboration Also thanks for the pattern grading video, - I sense it'll come in handy very soon ...
You can buy rice paper repair tape meat for books at library supply websites. It works really good for fixing tissue and pattern envelopes. Looks nice and can be ironed. Thanks for all the teaching on pattern grading. I have never made a vintage pattern because im stout with a big chest.
I'm so glad the you and Stephanie have inspired me. Live vintage patterns but never in my size. I'm a plus size girl. Now I will try to increase pattern size. Thanks ladies 😅
That turned out incredibly cute on you. I think you did a fantastic job! Typically I’ll just say, “yeah, that’s nice” and move on when I watch vides like this, but this looks really, really good on you! I do hope you wear that more than just for this reveal. You just got a subscriber.
Yay!!! I'm so glad you like the sewing videos! I'm really enjoying this hair color its very red in some lights and pink in others...best of both worlds!
that is adorable! The silhouette looks very good on you. You should take that bodice and put a circle skirt on it, with that collar ohhhh. Sleeves give me hives. Actually, it's the shoulders and neckline too. I have been struggling with making myself a sloper to work from. Every new pattern is like that final exam you forgot to study for. Oddly enough I get the biggest sense of accomplishment when I can get the fit right. I worked through pants fitting, so I will get there.
I actually have enough of the vintage fabric to make a circle skirt so I might make a skirt as well but I am 1000% going to make a full skirt version cuz I love that collar soo much! ❤️
What a fun collab and a lovely dress! This video is inspiring me to go ahead and try pattern grading myself. Like you, I've found the whole process to be so intimidating, but the way you broke it down makes me feel like I can totally try it as well. Great work, Jen! Now I'm off to watch Stephanie's video!
I can't sew, but I really enjoyed watching this video! Such a neat idea! You look AMAZING in the dress! Now I'm headed off to watch Stephanie's video! Thanks for sharing!
I loved this collab! 😍You both did a great job and looked like you had so much fun! Also, when it comes to my least favorite part of a sewing project, it's a toss up between set in sleeves and button holes. My machine doesn't like to do buttonholes anymore, so now there something i have to struggle through. Arrrgh!
That dress. Is. Everything. Well done. I'm currently in mock-up purgatory on three projects. Bullet bra - 3. Half stays - don't remember. Asymmetrical (sleeveless) jumper dress - 8. I know I've only been at this for a year. I know I went through 10 mock-ups for my Foundations Revealed entry.. I know this is part of the process. I know I'm scaling up to a 38FF. But I just want to wear the pretty fabric... _officially stamping foot in the dirt_ And fell seams. I miss doing all the finishing fiddly bits. Go figure. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown
Thank you so much! It was so worth all the mock ups! Hopefully you're close on at least one of those mock ups! It's gonna be so good when you finally finish...keep going...you got this!!!
@@JenniferElise I'm on the verge of using up a dye pack on the cotton sheeting I have. Because I am So over sewing nothing but white bedsheets... Yeah. Kay. Got this. Eek.
Wow how fabulous is that dress. I love it. Really really useful video. I have been terrified of pattern grading and read many complicated slashing bust enlarging techniques, ended up so intimidated I didn't do it. I will definitely give your method a go. Its one of those kiss 💋( keep it simple stupid!) Moments. So pleased you colabbed with Stephanie. Hope you are getting back to normal in the USA, its slowly happening here in the UK 🇬🇧😀
I'm so happy you found it helpful. It's not a perfect method but it works pretty darn good. :D She was so much fun to work with. Slowly but surely!! I'm hoping I'll be able to make it to England next year!
Beautiful!! Thank you so much for showing us how you graded your dress i have a few patterns just looking sad because i won't play with them! I'll definitely be trying to make at least one!
Oh this is so great! You really just aced this, and the dress is amaze. I'm also a do-the-hard-things-first person, because I figure it will be downhill cruising from there.
I was so happy to see a new video from you 😊 ! I love that you did this collab. The dress turned out beautiful. Thanks for showing the process and not just the sewing. I learned so much 🤓 📚.
This turned out amazing! It looks fabulous on you. Thanks for the explanation on grading patterns. I'm about to hack and slash my own pattern attempting to add both height and width to a fitted garment so looking for straight areas where I can do that should really help.
Aw thanks! It was a challenge but now I'm excited to have this bodice that I can do on other dresses (I think a full skirt version is needed). I'm so glad you found the hack and slash helpful!
Ahhhh!!! It's so pretty! Makes me wish I learned how to sew more things so I could make my own. I only made a baby shirt once. Loved the scalloped collar too! Since u do patterns so much are you able to add lib changes onto things as well? Like a little scalloped cuff on the sleeves would be very pretty maybe wit a lil slit and button center 💙😍💙
This came out SO beautifully! And I love how you fit it to yourself! This looks just great.
Awww...thanks! Thanks for pushing me outside my comfort zone and being a blast to work with!

You know that might be a great idea for another collab with her...though she's already conquered instructionless sewing! lol
Dang! That is a super cool idea! But you would have to blank out the instruction drawings too.
@@StephanieCanada Yeah, true. Forget about the line drawings.
@@AdirondackRuby but still! It could be done!! And it would be so fun.
This was the most fun collaboration ever. I was fascinated watching solve the bust and sleeve sizing. You rocked the vintage dress model pose. 💕

I'm definitely going to be making a full skirt version of this dress so a contrast collar just might happen! ❤️❤️❤️
