    This looks like something to plan on doing this winter. I will leave the truck alone for now since RC season is already upon us, but when I have 5 months of downtime next winter, I will do this to make the truck “super scale”, 😁

    Thorough and well thought out as usual. I've got the suspension on the frame and I'm installing the motor/tranny after I finish typing this. I too did not want the battery/servo box so this is very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Appreciated.

    Cool video! Where is the shifting servo now?

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For now, the shift servo is not attached. I find that I use in 4wd Low mode 98% of time, so I decided to just lock it in. At some point, I will reattach the shift servo, but not sure when.

      @@BigSungHobbies Understand! Did you lock both diffs?

      @BigSungHobbies  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoosterRC Yes, both my front and rear diffs are locked. Without engaging them, you won't be able to climb. Make sure to check out my After the Mods Rock and Climbing video to see how much it improved. th-cam.com/video/om_r5f5NKc8/w-d-xo.html

    Nice..
    Where did you install the servo for transmission?

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since I use P407 mainly for crawling/trail riding, I have it locked into 4WD Low full time; therefore, I removed the servo for transmission. I might install it back at some point. When I do I will need to figure out a way to mount it to the chassis.

      @@BigSungHobbies I see. Thanks! What mod did you do to the suspension to have more travel? The stock suspension is too bouncy.

      @@888akina Here are 5 leaf spring mods that I have done on mine: Leaf Sprung Mods:
      (FREE) Remove 1 leaf springs - front and back. Most folks recommend removing the smallest leaf from each corner. I have tried few different configurations, and I ended up removing the middle leaf on the front and small leaf on the rear. This configuration seem to work the best for me.
      Remove springs on shocks and add washers. Stock shocks are not very good and they leak. You can make modification to improve it. A good video from Dennis Dempsey Radio out of Control - th-cam.com/video/Iin6AAnf4gI/w-d-xo.html
      (FREE) (rear only) turn rear shackle mounts around. It lets the back flex a little more than current setup, and lessens the chance of snapping the leaf springs as it will have enough compression to not over work the leafs.
      (FREE) chino mod
      (FREE) break in those leafs

      @@888akina Makes quite bit of difference once you get all of them done...the best thing is that shocks don't leak anymore, and definitely has improved flexibility.

    Great idea! I’ll be doing this mod also.Do you have a recommendation for soft compound tires which fit the stock rims?

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The performance boost is huge. As for tires, if you are looking for straight out performance then get the Proline Hyrax in Predator compound...definitely has to be one of top tires out there. If you are looking for something much cheaper but that works well than don’t hesitate to pick up Austar AX-3021. It’s basically Hyrax copy, at less than half the price, but it does wear out quicker than original Hyrax.
