I’ve been an international traveler for many years and I do it on the cheap. Even though you can find tickets that are mind-boggling cheap you need to pay attention to multiple carriers and crazy layover times. When you book with multiple carriers you really have no recourse and the chance of getting stranded is real and can be outrageously expensive. Know what you’re buying If it’s a complicated itinerary get out your notebook trace it out know exactly where you’ll be how much time in between flights when you connect. If you mess this up it can be a devastating problem don’t take it lightly.
Southwest prices are awesome, especially within Florida! But a new airline called Avelo opened up near my home in CT and it is so convenient and prices are so good, I am so grateful. I often stopped by just to see the planes take off and land because it is so fascinating.
Megan you are wonderful. Thank you for the new ideas on booking flights. I just made this video a "favorite" so I can go back and book my next flight to Chicago from Boston in the fall. I already have a flight and thanks to you via Google Flights to London in May (my first time using this site) and I am grafeful to you as it gave me a good deal and it continues to email me on the flight cost changes. So glad I have been following you for quite some time now! You make it easy to follow in your videos with your clear and consise speaking voice, not to mention your expertise in all things travel ! Thanks again, Howard
Thank you so much, Howard! It is always nice to hear from viewers how the videos have been helpful! Have a great trip to London and good luck with your next booking!
The other problem with skiplagging is that, if your booked flight is cancelled for any reason or if you're denied boarding for any reason (such as an overbooked flight), the airline will rebook you to what you told it your final destination is. Your only option is to cancel the flight you booked, receiving whatever refund or credit the fare rules allow (probably none, if you bought a cheap ticket - and if you don't want a cheap ticket, why are you doing this?) and buy a last-minute ticket to where you really want to go.
On my upcoming flight to Italy, on all legs of the trip I'll be flying United, except one will be Lufthansa. It will be the first leg on my return flight from Rome to Frankfurt Germany. Because of Lufthansa's restrictive baggage policy, including a very small personal size bag and 8 kg weight limit on the carry-on, I'm planning on cramming as much as I can into one of my expanded carry-ons and checking it. Since I am returning home I won't need all my stuff. Also, I am doing one of Megan's tips, as I have a 17 hour layover in Frankfurt and will spend the evening checking out a few sites there, before flying back to the U.S. the next morning
Great info Megan, thanks. I have used Cheapo air many times with good results that came out cheaper than Kayak each time. However, I usually begin somewhere in SE Asia. Also, using a VPN with a server in a different country can achieve different results, depending on a few things. I always cross reference any flight with the main carrier's website. Also also, I suppose South West is good, ah, if you don't fly out of Dallas, TX. It has been said that the Wright Amendment had been repealed, but. The Wright Amendment had to do with competition with DFW back in the day. I don't use Southwest out of Love Field anymore. Keep up the good work.
Cheapo air is a scam I bought a ticket viewed my online artinuary with them, then the next page was the same artinuary with a 14 hour layover. I did not pay attention that they switched the artinuary. I lost $250 on my refund ticket. I also saw they switch the price higher as a bait and hook. I paid dearly in dollars and time with them
As a senior I only book with the airline direct. Our last flight with a 3rd party was just before Covid but got caught in the lock down . No help from the 3 rd party.
Very useful, thanks! You're in Canada? I'm in Ottawa but I think flying out of Toronto and Montreal occasionally are the best way to get to many destinations...
Very nice information. Will try the hacker fare and the airwander tip. The airwander trip sounds amazing as I’m planning a trip to Asia to at least 2 different countries.
Last month I was checking flights to NYC from PHX. They were almost twice as much as I normally pay for a non-stop flight. Unacceptable! So I checked obsessively every day with the carriers I use. And out of nowhere the price went down $300, back to a normal fare. I booked it. And the next day it was a crazy price again. Not sure what that was all about, but I am grateful.
Thank you very much. Love the airwander. Never heard of it before. I have done many long layovers and made mini vacations out of them but never a stopover. My first search had a stopover in Bangkok but also a 23 hour layover in Tokyo which is basically a bonus stopover.
Another great video. On my next trip to Europe, I will be taking a carry on. Big change for me but your videos on how to pack and what to bring have really helped me.

👋 Hi, we enjoy your videos. You mentioned your parents going to Portugal. Do they stay in a long-stay? Do you have any tips/ a video regarding long-stays in Spain or Portugal? Thanks
Great to hear you enjoy watching. My parents were on a 3 week trip and travelled around. I have enjoyed time in both Portugal and Spain, love them both, but only on shorter stays. Hope you find what you are looking for.
I sometimes check a bag depending on the trip. If it's a long trip, then yes, I'm checking a bag. If it's a shorter trip, then no, I'll do carry-on and a personal item.
I’m flying to Italy in august I was planning on getting my ticket this weekend. Should I wait on a specific date? And I will use one of these sites, I go every year to see my family. Last year I used wow fare and I wasn’t really happy with them they missed some things. Hopefully this year getting tickets will be easier
3:35 you should be aware that some airlines are trying to stop allowing this practice and are using penalty fees to help prevent it. They see it as being unfair to those who want guaranteed seats prior to their trip as opposed to opting for standby. And this ultimately can cost them business. And two the rates were discounted due to it being a common flight sequence and in a time of rising fuel costs….. it is simply costing them too much money.
If you book directly at the airline you’re less likely to experience problems, in case of refund you won’t end in between two stools, this is true. But yes step over is cheeper, generally the more inconvenient the cheaper the flight. Yeah those sites are definitely US solutions mainly
I always rope down my bag with wipes before deboarding esp well on the area that’s touching my body. I really try to pack everything in 1 backpack that fits under the seat for up to 1 week .

Then there are always the surprise rare good deals to be find if one has the time , energy & patience trying out these cheap flights! ... 🙏
Thank you, Megan, for the video. I need clarification with the following issue that I am facing from you or some experienced travelers!! I booked my round trip flights to/from Germany/San Francisco directly on Lufthansa because I realized that the cheap flight websites lead you to an airline's website to book it anyway, and the price was the same. I booked my flights, and later, I wanted to ask a question regarding the mileage, and an agent from the Lufthansa Airlines told me that my flights are on stand-by because it is on the basic economy, and therefore, I may not be able to board the airplane unless there is an opening even though I paid for it. The agent asked me to pay additional $350 to make it an official ticket. Is that right???
The biggest disadvantage for us who live in Australia and NZ - except for SE Asia, the rest of the world is so far away from us and the Australian and NZ dollar have so little value, we just get no deals at all. Where you can travel from the US to Europe for $700 USD we have to do with over $1800 AUD ($1000 USD nearly). As well as this the length of each travel is so draining. By the way - Australia is a great place for Airlines because consumers have zero protection. Airlines have no obligation or allow cool off period. Once you book a ticket you are at their mercy- NO REFUND unless it is their fault such as flight cancelled. Even then you could only get a credit. Airlines here make the rules.
I've traveled the most around Asia (Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, China, Thailand, Korea). I found MANY of the local airlines have very strict rules about the weight of carry on. So trying to stuff it full of a weeks worth of things could be a challenge. People should be aware of this possible restriction. For me, last year I traveled 5 months straight. No way I could have done that without checking a bag. Especially so I had room for gifts and purchases to bring home. A backpack is not good for that extra stuff you pick up while traveling. Although - two times I did go the local post office and mail a box of "stuff" to my home. This was very cost efficient when I sent it 4th class. Not so good when I accidentally sent it first class. Still - better than trying to stuff in my luggage.
Thanks for sharing the travel tips. On a separate topic, I love your hair. If you have time, would you consider doing a tutorial on how to achieve similar curls on your long hair. What curlers do you use? Thank you !

For international nothing is good. The price is good but then you need the lagging and seat that go almost 60% more to add to the original price. Yes it will cheap ticket if have two or three stops which you will spend the life in airports and planes!! Good deal yes?
The 24 hour rule is our strongest ally but one must be aware and alert to make cancellations within that 24 hour of booking. We should be careful not to waste this time when we still have full control of cancelling our purchase.
Frontier called us to changed our flights the night before our return to the next day!….i’ll never going to buy cheap tickets again ever….this never happens on a flight costing little more….
Just took a look at YUL Deals for a flight to Ft. Lauderdale in April 2025. The taxes are absolutely insane!! They come up to about 60% of the cost of the ticket. So since we're 2 ppl. We're technically paying (according to the actual price of the ticket) for 3 ppl. Am I going through a "brain fart" moment or does that actually crazy? $259.61 + $174.36 in taxes. Has anyone looked at the taxes on flights? Maybe it's the fact that the departure is from Montreal (Quebecers pay more taxes) ??
I use google flights in planning vacations to find future windows months out. It is always find the reasonable price, then getting vacations approved before clicking to buy. This last time the total vacation went up $700 in 3 days.
I tried watching your video, but YT is blocking me from watching or hearing your videos. I refreshed the screen 12 times. Just so you know, I've been watching other people's livestreams and videos for the last 2-3 hours without issue. Just a friendly fyi. If they are blocking people from watching your content, that's your money.
I don t think skipplagged is legal , airlines are checking on that now days , I would be very careful not to do it too many times .Also the cheapest flights on kayak or other search engines don t include seats or carry on even with major airlines . Lot of click bates out there !!!!!!LOL
I always find it interesting when I see a video that talks about special way to get to better prices, that I can't find how do it on the website. Example, the "Book this Hacker Fare" (0.27sec/10:13), I can't find it anywhere on the website. The way it's present it in the video makes it sound so easy and it's right there. WRONG. If you have a special feature, SHOW how to find it. It's like watching video on how to do something with apple software. It never seem to look the same as your version. You can't even know where to begin. I'm really VERY disappointed with the presenter. They assume you know something particular before you even start.

@@M_SC Mostly wine,. Dan7sh wine for my Ame4ican friends and North Carolina wine for me on return.
I agree! I have made use of the 24 hr. rule more than once! Happy travels!
@@PortableProfessional I like to grab a flight deal when I see it and sometimes get buyer's remorse if I find a lower price as I keep looking!
No im not planning to check a bag on my next flight
Thanks for watching!
Interesting ideas but complicated and time consuming 😊
So, if you spend forty minutes and save $100-$200, that’s a pretty good payoff.
I used my VPN to buy my tickets to the UK from another country, saved over $2000
Hi sister, which country vpn you have used?
You need to fix your audio levels on recording and editing. Compared to 20 other videos I just watched, I can't hear you.
Frontier called us to changed our flights the night before our return to the next day!….i’ll never going to buy cheap tickets again ever….this never happens on a flight costing little more….
The resemblance to the young Bridget Fonda is unmistakable!
Megan is the best....What is special is that she is not just USA centric.
But you have to add the hotel cost to the money you are saving.
I use google flights in planning vacations to find future windows months out. It is always find the reasonable price, then getting vacations approved before clicking to buy. This last time the total vacation went up $700 in 3 days.
skiplagging is dangerous you will get charged the correct fair for the city ou jump off at FFS!
I have never put luggage in the hold BUT they've always charged me.
Book through the airlines always.
No checked bags for me!
That's great! Thanks for watching!
Kayak, air wander, skiplagged
I would never trust my credit card with a hole in the wall cheap websites
I always find it interesting when I see a video that talks about special way to get to better prices, that I can't find how do it on the website. Example, the "Book this Hacker Fare"
(0.27sec/10:13), I can't find it anywhere on the website. They assume you know something particular before you even start.
no on checked bag
Btw…you are gorgeous! 🤭
Not sure this would work in Canada. We only have two airlines 😂
You’re forgetting Porter and Air Transat.
@@missmayflower They aren't national level
AZAir
Um, you put up a wrong calendar for the month of March 2024. You are off by a day. The 1st was a Friday.
Just saying.
Ooops! You are absolutely right! Keen eye! Thanks for watching!
Klook is not cheap?
is Southwest not the ryan air of the USA????? aka you want to avoid booking flights with them were possible
Travel info
Useful tips. Everyone should be able to book cheaper flights. If he or she can't, it's a 🚩

I only buy first class or business first class.
Cheap means uncomfortable.
Plus a friend of mine is a travel agent.
Lucky you. Not an option for most folks. Nice flex though.
I carry a swiss (where are my real guys at?). So, I will be checking a bag in order to take it with me.
Or just stay home and save hundreds!
You’re on the wrong channel bud… 😂😂
Stick to the airline itself
