borax is also used by blacksmiths. it's the "glue" for sticking two molten pieces of metal together in forging. Joey Van Der Steeg, Alec Steele and others on ytube...where hot stuff is cool.

It's a flux not a glue it keeps the oxygen off the iron while it's hammered together

I have seen the wagons in person during a parade in Hailey, Idaho. They are very large with a wheel height of almost 8 feet tall. A few years ago the wagons were restored by Engals Coach Shop in Montana. The video is worth the watch.

It's also good for vegetable garden to keep bugs from eating the leaves, used coffee grounds works good to keep the bugs out of the soil.

Thank you for the quick history lesson. I grew up with borax soap and Lava soap. A lot of the old western shows on black and white tv were sponsored by 20 Mule Team Borax. Take care and stay well.

Wow. I lived in the Barstow/Lynwood area back when I was in 2nd grade, and never knew about mining borax history. I do know that back when we were living there, 1966, PG&E power company polluted the water tables and wells there. That's what the movie, Erin Brockovich was all about, staring Julia Roberts.

I REMEMBER THE COMMERCIALS THAT RONALD REAGAN USED TO DO FOR 20 MULE TEAM BORAX. IT WAS IN THE 50'S IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. HE WAS THE HOST OF A COWBOY SHOW AND THE 20 MULE TEAM BORAX WAS THE SPONSOR. THOSE DAYS ARE GONE NOW.

In the early 60's my Dad drove the family for hours into the bush and if we asked Dad why he just laughted and said 'for Mothers washing'
We trailered a heap home. My family used it for numerous things for at least 30 years.

1/8TH TSP. mixed with a glass of DISTILLED WATER, will eliminate "bugs" from the intestines. Can't hurt will you; I accidently took a full tsp., thought it tasted a little soapy, but did no harm other than getting rid of those critters out of my system.
