    What a detailed review! I ordered HSK pro after watching your video, now I'm thinking about buying hard mouse pad because of you, lol)
    It's nice how you give even more feedback on hsk pro in you video, giving a better description of how your setup feels! Way more informative than just talking about glass pad, without giving that thick layer of context.
    Keep it up!

      Thank you so much for the feedback 😊 my Razer Atlas arrived yesterday, and if you are planning to get a hard pad, go for the Atlas - I am slowly getting a feel for it and hope to have a video out before the 28 March. But overall, it feel like better quality and offers a bit more than the Skypad. The video will cover in more detail :)

      @bsi the normal skates have a larger surface area so more friction. The dot skates provide less friction and more effortless glide. If you find the glide is too fast then grab a larger skate to add some more control to you HSK

    I went from a Hein to a Skypad 3.0 when the Kickstarter happened about a year ago. I really love the way the Skypad gives me instant flicks but there was a large transition period for me where I was over flicking everything for about a month and needed to lower my sens a few times with my PMM mouse. I love the feeling in arcade shooters but recently I've been on a valorant binge and am wanting to try something with slightly more friction. I'm thinking about giving the Cerapad Kin a try as I've heard its the best control option for glass pads. I don't think i'll ever go back to a soft pad though. Like you said any cloth pad feels like I'm dragging my mouse through mud.

    Very good in depth review, thank you! I have the m2k and skypad 3.0 and the only thing that really gets to me is the cable. This might be the mouse/mousepad combo I want to look into. As even with a bungee, the mouse seems to want to move on its own when turned due to the low weight/lack of friction. Thanks again! ps. Im the one from the whispering video

      Hahha hello again!! Thanks for coming back 💪 I have a 4 week review of the HSK Pro if you're interested, the TLDR is, get the ACE version, 4k is overrated in my opinion. Bug QC is hit or miss 😬

      I actually watched that video this morning and was still intrigued. Ended up purchasing the 4k. (doofus me) It wasn’t so much the 4k polling rate I was interested in. More so that it was the latest version of the design etc. Through further research, the G Wolves reviews on the website seem to be a little filtered. Fingers crossed! hoping this’ll still be worth it.

      @@user-jv4hd7gc7b ah thats fair enough, I probably wouldn't go to G wolves website for honest look at reviews, its all very rosy over there! the discord is toxic but it gives a good feel for where their quality is at. Still waiting for my Skypad, re: value for money - I would say it's probably not worth buying at full price but on sale it definitely makes sense for someone like me that uses the same peripherals for a long time until they wear out. I've been curious about these since the first version but I was still happy with my zowie GTFX (which I loved), now that it's wearing out in the middle and cleaning it isn't bringing back that like-new feel the idea of paying 60-70eur for a pad that just won't noticeably wear seems like the perfect replacement

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the days of buyi g glass pads for over 100$ is coming to an end. The majority of pads released in 2023 were 50-70$ and i think SkyPAD had to change their prices to remain competitive, whoch is great if you ask me 😁 I hope you enjoy the SkyPAD when it arrives. You may want to consider picking up some SkyPAD Obsidian Pro dots if you struggle with the speed and 'wriggliness' of it

    regarding more control on a hardpad, you might want to check out the cerapad kin. Don't have it myself but I've read it's much more controlled than the slippery glass pad

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard a lot about the cerapad kin, but I thought it had a coating that chips off easily, which instantly stomped my interest - which is a real shame.
      The Razer Atlas feels great so far, and has slightly more control than the Skypad, which is all I wanted 🫡 review will be live by the end of the weekend 🤙

    Nice review! Very in-depth. I feel like I have to disagree with you saying that the pad is "high maintenance", though. I've been using the Skypad 2.0 for about a year and 2 months and it has been by far the least maintenance pad I have ever used. The scratchiness of the pad either goes away or you get used to it as well, I am unsure. I have spilt Pepsi on the pad 2 times and all it took was a couple wipes with paper towels and it was clean.
    Edit: I now see that you mention that it's less maintenance compared to other pads. 👍

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rain 🌧 thanks for the feedback 😊 yes I think I covered it off as "little and often" in terms of maintenance, which I actually prefer to cloth pad maintenance. My Razer Atlas review comes out tomorrow, you may enjoy that one too as I compare it to the Skypad 🫡

      Hey Simon, thanls for the kind words 🫡 since this video i have raised my sensitivity to around 42cm (in Apex its 0.6 @1600 dpi). I find a slightly slower sens works for me in terms of consistency.
      If you struggle with the 3.0 speed, you could either try lowering your sens, or pick up some slower mouse feet, the obsidian pros are quite slow by comparison to most other hardened mouse feet. I have a video talking through these th-cam.com/video/6QJGknWRknU/w-d-xo.html and also a video going through different mouse pad options th-cam.com/video/SJi5crkwuW0/w-d-xo.html

      I dont ever see other reviewers using the dot skates on their bigger mice - whoch indicates that it wouldnt be optimal(?), but I'm interested now! Maybe you could put a Q on the mouse review subreddit? I'm certain you'd get a number of responses from like minded enthusiasts

    Do you give any weight to the fact that when you buy a new pad, mouse or any other peripheral, you innately want to confirm/validate your purchase and decision making process that led to it? I say this not in a judgemental way but just curious as I see myself as someone who appreciates and tries to remove bias/emotion from my opinion of products I buy.. but inevitably it will always creep in to some extent. An example would be, you buy a new mouse, and you essentially focus more or try harder because you not only want to validate the investment but it has fundamentally changed something about your routine. You almost become in a day-dream while gaming and changes in your configuration of the game or peripherals can kind of make you focus up?

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dotfrag, I can relate to this for sure. I try to give all the information possible in my reviews, both good and bad and hope that will allow my viewers and community to make some form of informed decision on the product for themselves. I typically buy products for a couple of reasons - either its cool or innovative and I want to see what it offers, or my current equipment is so bad I need a replacement.
      I'm actually relatively new to PC gaming, I played MMORPGs in my teens, and took about a 10 year break in gaming, when Covid pandemic hit i started playing on the Nintendo Switch, and then a year later (18-24 months ago) I switched to PC gaming.
      So genuinely, alot of my experiences I'm sharing on my channel are first time experiences with different products and product types - and I'm capturing all my observations because I think its valuable to others in a similar position. BUT i do accept your point about bias. I try very hard for this not to influence me too much in my content though.
      I hope that answers your question somewhat?

    • @dotfrag
      @dotfrag ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LogPileGaming Oh absolutely, I was not trying to imply you were any more biased than anyone else by the way. Just that when we buy anything, we can skew data in favour of the thing we buy without even thinking. "It makes my life so much easier/better/faster!" I've had a few peripherals that in hindsight, I thought were THE endgame when I bought them and after the rose tinted glasses came off, I went back to what was tried and true!
      I'm having a bit of that I think with the ultralight phase, I have a HSK Pro 4k aswell and for all my quick flicks etc can sell the impression that it's 100% better, my consistency in other respects can go down. Sometimes a more grounded mouse with a larger footprint can make my crosshair placement and horizontal movements more consistent, albeit not as explosively accurate.

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      @dotfrag I think thats a fair observation, of how our perception of products change as we get past the honeymoon phase.
      I have stuck it out with the HSK Pro since it arrived, and while I know its not perfect (I have a script in draft to offer improvements for the next version) I still prefer the immersion I get from small form mice vs traditional shapes and sizes. I understand that I'm answering in a blinkered approach, and that maybe my view on hard pads will change over time, but I really like them 2 months in - and the most important thing to remember with all these products is it's like choosing colours, everyones colour preference will be slightly different - I think hard pads and light mice offer great immersion which is what i value at the moment. I am not sure if I'm answering fully, but i appreciate your comments its been very thought provoking.

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I failed to answer 2 of your Qs.
      Q1. Wanting to confirm or validate purchases?
      A1. Yes I think this is true with everything in life 😅 in the context of gaming, I tend to be drawn to niche or specialist items that I knoe before I buy, are a huge risk. So I tend to just suck up the investment (I'm fortunate to be financially stable enough to do this) and take it for what it is when it arrives. While I do try to justify purchases in some cases, most of the time I tend to just play around with my curiosity and accept sometimes the purchase won't be a good one.
      Q2. Do changes to config make you focus up?
      A2. Yes in my experience it does, if I'm trying an entirely new product/experience I'll give myself enough time with the product to get through the change adjustment phase in order to pass a fair judgement.
      I hope I've answered everything, if not, fire back 🫡 I love the name btw, very cool.

    Do you think you got more used to Skypad as the oil on your skin was introduced to its surface and kinda lubricated it? A few days into my Skypad, it still sticks way too much to my skin and any fast movement basically catches a part of my thumb or pinky skin into the underside of my mouse.

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Xerendity, I only used the Skypad once for gaming without a sleeve. I've used a sleeve since that first day - unless I've been using it for internet browsing or work, etc. Did you see the section about sleeves?

    • @xerenityapexlegends3940
      @xerenityapexlegends3940 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LogPileGaming
      Yes but your fingers and palm are not covered by the sleeve hence I found this still relevant. I have seen some pics of skypads used a while by players with arm sleeves and the middle is still shinier.

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Xerendity Apex Legends Sorry Xerendity, I understand your point now. The way I wear my sleeve, my palm isn't in contact with the pad. The only skin contact points are my fingers as described in my grip section. maybe I pull my sleeve slightly hogher than you do? I know that pulling the sleeve up this high impacts mouse grip somewhat , because the bit of the sleeve on your palm goes into the back of the mouse if you arent careful, but you can get around this with some tinkering and i dont have this problem with the mouse i use. Did that help at all?

    • @xerenityapexlegends3940
      @xerenityapexlegends3940 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LogPileGaming
      Yes. Unfortunately I agree that pulling the sleeve up impacts the grip and not in a way that fits me. I'm thinking about putting some sort of oil on the pad and hoping that it doesnt damage it or impact the mouse sensor sensitivity. I will do more research on this, thank you.

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Xerendity Apex Legends honestly I wouldnt put any oil on the pad i can't imagine that working well at all and would maybe just make the pad even more difficult to use. Have you considered one of the skypad sleeves? i think they have versions that cover your hands entirely? this could work for you?

    yo log pile rn im getting a steel series qck large and I haven't tried it yet basically its a cloth mousepad I wanna get the sky pad 3.0 since its on a sale but idk if I should there is 300x350mm for 35$ and 400x450mm for 60$ which size do u recommend me to get and should I get a sleeve and which budget sleeve would u recommend

    • @LogPileGaming
      @LogPileGaming  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mert! I personally would buy the bigger size, but if you play on a high sensitivity the smaller option would be fine! You will (in my opinion) NEED a sleeve, but you can repurpose an old sports top if you have one, I just cut the sleeves off an old lycra / thermal i no longer use and that worked great. You can pull them up over the flesh of your thumb and pinky too. I have a video on sleeves if you want to buy one 😁
