    Excellent video, mate! had an original Icemat glass pad for about 8 years before it was unceremoniously shattered when I dropped it while rearranging my desk back in 2018. I tried the Skypad 2.0 and 3.0 but both were far too big and made it very difficult to control my mice. The glide was just too slick for my preferences. Turns out the best hard mouse pad for me is the butcher block table top I use for the workstation desk I built in 2021.

    I have the Wraith Cosmic and it's absolutely perfect. I had a pretty old Lamzu Energon, but my transition this pad has been going very smooth. As for cleaning it, it's a bit rough as getting the dust out is tough, but otherwise it feels like I have a lot of control.

  • @robind8526
    @robind8526 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The noise was one of the reasons I stopped using my Icemat back in the day. And yes, the grinding feeling you would get at times was another issue I had.

  • @Katze822228
    @Katze822228 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    I tried a couple of different skates on my skypad and I found out that the noise level varies greatly with skate brand and skate size. Corepad are by far the quietest and the smaller the surface area the more quiet the glide is. if you make really small skates with the corepad DIY universal skates that you cut yourself they're inaudible during desktop use. Only if I do large swipes I can hear them without headphones but they're much more quiet then the other skates I tried (tiger ice, x-raypad obsidian dots and razer stock feet)
    And the grinding feeling when you have dust on the pad also varies depending on the skate brand. The x-raypad obsidian dots are affected really badly by dust to the point where it's impossible to aim when a speck of dust gets cought under the skates. With corepads dust is not that bad, I still feel it but I don't feel the need to stop whatever is happening ingame and wipe the pad immediatly.

    That's so interesting that you mentioned the jitteriness when stopping on the Hayate Otsu. I'd been using it the past few months but switched to the Vaxee PA today because of that very issue. I was intrigued by the Superglide XL but assumed the stopping power would be even worse than the Otsu...

    since we are talking about glass pads as a whole I will add an annoyance I've been having a lot with my cerapad KIN.
    its a great pad however in my personal experience the grinding of anything getting on the pad is 10x worse on the KIN, not only do I feel way more than I did on my skypad 2.0 but it will also kind of stick to it, I have a really hard time just "wiping away" any dust or anything on the kin to the point where ive got a dedicated micro fiber just for it and even that needs some elbow grease to get off some bits of dust from ptfe or what have you.
    its infuriating and is almost a deal braker for this pad specifically imo. like i have to clean it daily with window cleaner and I'm not a dirty person, ive never properly cleaned my 2.0 because i never had an issue, just an occasional back hand wipe and it was fine. even just making some corrections on this comment theres a bit of dust i cant get from underneath my finalmouse. its infuriating.
    it also seems to grind ptfe way more than my skypad even though it feels smoother, like the tiger ice skates on the bottom of my finalmouse have some serious flat spots where they contact the pad and ive only been using it for about a week. i think this is part of my issue with the dust because i think the surface is a bit porous and the grinds from the ptfe get stuck in the pad and you feel it.

      Glass pads are really something special and they come with some drawbacks. On the other hand they allow you to play with your favorite hoodie on. I'm cold a lot and cant play with long sleeves on a regular pad, because my aim always gets stuttery that way. It might not be perfect, but the SkyPad gave me exactly what I was looking for.
      The thing with Pro players is, they can't always choose, what gear to use on tournament. Often they are sponsored by a brand and have to use their gear in public. The transport thing is a big problem for LANs. Bought my SkyPad 3.0 in a travel case for that reason.

    I really wanna try glass mousepads some day, I recently bought the fnatic jet and before that I had the mpc450 and so far the jet is perfoming pretty well but I pledged it because I felt it wasnt fast enough and since its waterproof I thought I wouldnt ruin it, could be the stock feet on my mouse because they arent quality ptfe. Tiger ice dots should be arriving any time now so that might make fix the issue. If anyone used both the fnatic jet and a skypad(or some pad that is faster than the skypad) and could compare them for me I would be really happy. The fnatic jet is also by far the prettiest pad I have ever seen.

    • @FreshReviewsYT
      @FreshReviewsYT  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only time humidity will affect the pad is more so with the moisture on your body. If you sweat profusely it can build up on the pad. The moisture on you can also cause you to stick to the pad. If you wear a sleeve it’s no issue. The superglide again seems to handle it very well, but it’s really not a huge issue for me on any of the pads because I don’t sweat a lot
