    Projects coming along beautifully! Definitely do what Rodney suggested and used the Silicone spray lube for the window tracks. Makes a WORLD of difference. It's getting there one thing at a time. Looking good buddy!

      Hey thanks alot. These seals all have like a felt finish wherever the glass touches it. Or do you mean on the regulator at the pivot points to use the silicone spray? I have a can and I ain't afraid to use it lol.

      @@FixLife119 Honestly I'd say both! I was fussing around with mine and sprayed the felt side of things. That helped immensely. But Lubrication is almost never a bad thing to have. :)

      @@JosiahMcBeth I'm doin it then lol. I forgot today. Got into some shenanigans with her. You ever seen a vehicle run with an apple up the exhaust? Tune in tomorrow lol. The thumbnail might be a banana in the tailpipe cuz I did that too. Then took out the windshield. Gonna somehow try to put all that in 1 thumbnail, we'll see :)

    Spray into the window rubber tracks with SILICONE spray lubricant. It'll preserve the gasket and stop squeaks and other noises. I was in the automotive glass replacement business for 30 years before retirement. BTW if you have any glass installation questions, I'll be glad to try and answer them for you. Love the series, BTW.

      Thank you. On the seals I just changed out there isn't really any direct rubber to glass contact. It's all like a felt material where the glass touches it, I'll have to look again. I'm always itchin to spray some silicone spray wherever it'll help. I'll spray it on the felt lol. The windshield needs to be replaced. I have glass coverage. I've never made a glass claim in over 20 years. I bought it with cracked glass, you think they would reject me if I tried to have insurance replace it? If they don't allow that I suppose I could try to change it myself. Do they do the shoestring technique for a flat glass in a thick gasket like this? Thanks again!

      @FixLife119 In all the claims I filed in my area over the years, they would cover the windshield, no matter when the damage occurred. Also if I'm not mistaken, you may be lucky. Florida and Arizona insurance law states that you can get 2 windshields a year with zero out of pocket, no matter what your deductible for comprehensive coverage is. At least it was a couple of years ago when I retired. I would DEFINITELY check on that. Also if you do have insurance do it, make sure they furnish a new gasket with it. Even though you have your own, theirs will be OEM or at least it will be warrantied as long as the glass is.

      @FixLife119 they will probably use a piece of rope to install it, but those Suzukis are usually back beaded with urethane adhesive, at least their supposed to be. Don't know what the previous owner did though. It needs the urethane in it for safety reasons. Don't use silicone or anything else for sure!

      @@rodneysmothermon6113 Oh awesome, that's all great news. That kit I got didn't come with a windshield gasket so that'll be really nice. Will they always furnish a new gasket or do you have to request it? I doubt they have those on their trucks so maybe it would need to be ordered? My brother called his ins co and they literally showed up in less than an hour and changed his windshield (it was was Prius). I couldn't believe it! Hey thanks for the great info!

      @@rodneysmothermon6113 Sounds like I should leave that to the experts, especially if insurance will cover it. With that adhesive is it even possible to re-use a gasket? I'll wait a little bit then call my insurance company. A new windshield will be so nice. I failed emissions today so I gotta figure that out pretty soon. Thanks again!

    I had India issues / distrust / as well.
    Then I bought a Gen4 Jimny made in India but at Japanese quality standards. And I work for a massive Indian company. All in all, almost all of my prejudices towards India are out the window. 😁

      Yeah for the most part I've been able to make everything work so far. You go into it knowing it's a gamble for the price youre paying and so far I've been pretty happy actually.

    iv never looked into wrap, is it somthin you can do often, cheap? i know back in the day race car stickers wasn't that cheap

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ya its not too much, definitely way cheaper than a paint job, but you gotta do good prep like a paint job if you want it to look good. I've never done it, done window film and it sucks, if you breathe on it wrong it's F'd. Wrap is so so forgiving. You can literally crumple it up and take a heat gun to it and it's fine. I really just wanna play with it, it looks so fun when I see videos of people doing it. I figured this would be a good one cuz its pretty square. We'll see what happens lol. There's always the $2.50 Home Depot black rattle can paint, that's what we did to my roommates 4Runner lol.

    Hi! I’m also trying to fix up a samurai and mines painted this yellow color too! Do you know what the paint code is? I think I’m just looking in the wrong spots but I can’t find it anywhere haha thank you!

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, that's awesome. They are so fun to work on because they're so simple. Mine was actually blue underneath. Someone just put a yellow paint job over it. Unfortunately they didn't prep it very well so it didn't hold up. I ended up wrapping mine (well I'm still in the process, only one more panel to go) a dark gray and painting all the accessories with bed liner from Harbor Freight. If you check out some recent videos you'll see how it looks now. Good luck with your new project. I've been through almost this entire Samurai and made videos on all of it. Lemme know if you have any questions. If I can't answer them surely some people in the comments can, some of them know these things like the back of their hands, they've helped me quite a bit.
