All singers watching and hearing this, pay attention to his incredible technique. He has the breath totally flowing constantly, never gripping. He has his passagio completely balanced that enables his upper register to be so free. Of course his incredible range is as rare as snow in August
This man is a god amongst men. He will go down in history as one of the greatest singers. This was otherworldly.

Spyres è uno sei più grandi tenori rossiniani. Voce molto estesa, tecnica ragguardevole, legato impeccabile. Ho avuto la fortuna di ascoltarlo dal vivo ed è entusiasmante. L' aria che canta in questo video è di ardua difficoltà e lui la risolve in modo magnifico.
Tenore straordinario, Estensione ragguardevole, timbro caldo e pregiato, note perfettamente centrate, legato ineccepibile, tecnica straordinaria.

Tenor MAGNIFICO, graves, agudos, y sobre agudos del mismo color.... timbre sublime y bellísimo. Amplísimo registro tenor fuera de serie, de gran expresion, imponente, voz compacta, clara, y llena...
No como el Maestro Chriss Merritt quien tenia una voz mas pastosa y sonaba como un cello en los cantabiles inigualable, era mas elegante para cantar no solo emitia sonidos como Spyres

MAGNIFICENT TENOR
An immense voice completely at the service of music, not only of the score and notes. The singing is much more expressive and touching, true, than what could have been Merritt, another great tenor who afford this role, which certainly had more ringing treble in high notes ...but not the expressiveness and roundness of sound that Spyres has on the whole vocal register.
A real wonderful perfomance perfectly suited by the conductor.

Il faut dire qu'il est bleufant... je me rappelle de Chris Merritt à son époque qui, dans la Donna Del Lago, impressionnait avec ses Lab graves dans Rodrigo. Mais là c'est encore plus beau !

This wonderful concert performance of Ermione was performed at the Lyon Opera. Spyres was joined by Angela Meade and Dmitri Korchak. As always, Spyres was magnificent. That November I was in Europe primarily to see Juan Diego Florez in Les Huegenots in Berlin, but was glad that I could accommodate a quick side trip to Lyon. This whirlwind trip to Europe was such a great pleasure and blessing to revel in the singing of two of our very best tenors. We are so lucky to be able to enjoy such great singers.
...........but Florez has a Very nice merely limited voice, Spyres sings with a Voice into universe

Magnificent! Best Pirro since the legendary performing of great Chris Merritt at ROF in 1987 during the first revive of Ermione in almost 170 years.
But not Maestro Merritt he was better
The performance of Chris Merrit and Rockwell Blake in ROF Ermione OF 1987 remains one of the highest peaks in RossIni interpretation IMHO,. Spyres as Pirro is excellent too He dominates with apparent ease the monstruous vocal range of this aria

Un artiste passionnant par bien des côtés. Sa voix homogène dans tous les registres semble puissante et elle déploie une infinité de couleurs et de nuances s'appuyant sur une amplitude exceptionnelle ! Michael Spyre renoue avec une tradition du chant qui semblait disparue, et qui grâce à lui resurgit comme par enchantement. Son émission sur le souffle, et quel souffle, s'appuie sur une technique vocale belcantiste exigeante mais ô combien efficace pour ce type de musique. Complimenti !

Opera Rara has put out a CD called "Espoir", Michael Spyres with Carlo Rizzi and the Halle Orchestra -- available on their website; available elsewhere from I think September. I have one from their concert last week. Superb! (We loved sitting in the front row that night, almost literally at his feet. Lovely evening.)

A ce sujet, j'ai lu un commentaire su TH-cam : c'est un véritable Baryton-Ténor avec presque octaves. Exceptionnel ! ! !
lanonyme c'est un bariténor plus précisément. Je l'ai entendu récemment à Paris descendre du contre fa au sol grave soit presque trois octaves ! Absolument phénoménal. De plus il a un sens aigu de la scène et une présence naturelle.

Mica e' come Flores! Spyres se lo mette sotto i tacchi. Non capisco perche Sèyres non sia piu' famoso di Flores...e' forse il migliore della categoria...mah.
@@fabriziomariagarzi5534 Sono difficilmente comparabili. Uno (Spyres) è un vero baritenore, merce rara, l' altro (Florez) è un tenore contraltino.
@@vincenzodeleo268 , certamente che non sono comparabili, io ho ascoltato dal vivo Spyres e sono rimasto di stucco...Florez, l'altro, sara' pure contraltino ma di poco spessore. Anche Pavarotti era un "contraltino"...

Michael Spyres may give excellent performances in Othello, Manrico (Trovatore), Tamino or Florestan (Fidelio)
Don’t think his voice is right for Othello or Manrico. No ringing topnotes. It’s one thing being able to sing the first duet in Othello, but for the rest of the role you need a real dramatic robust voice. I’ve heard him live and he simply doesn’t have that kind of voice. Hopefully he’ll never venture into this madness! He’s magnificent singing the parts he’s singing now. Who knows, maybe when he’s 50?
One feels sorry for the other singers, knowing Michael is singing rings around them.
Spyres è bravissimo, per carità, ma Chris Merritt alla sua età era una spanna sopra. Meno esteso, ma più luminoso nella voce, più agile nei virtuosismi ed anche di ben maggiore carisma sulla scena.
