Wonderful voice and magnificent singer with exceptional musicality. One of the best!
FORMIDABLE !!! pas uniquement pour cette note aigue qui laisse le chanteur épuisé ! mais la découverte de ces airs des Martyrs qui sont magnifiques ! et à souligner absolument car trop rare, la diction plus qu'honorable de Michael Spyres !!! on comprend chaque mot et Dieu sait que ce n'est pas évident pour un étranger (ou un Français, d'ailleurs...) dans ce type d'air. BRAVO, Mr Spyres et MERCI !!!

Bravissimi! A hidden genuine" chef d'œuvre" by G. Donizetti(init.italian "Poliuto" ), from his "french" creative period,and collaboration with "l' Opéra" including also "La Favorite " and "La fille du régiment". A composer not only admired by his italian contemporaries ,but also by R.Wagner for his impeccable technique, his sincere melodic charisma and orchestration skills. Michael Spyres gave us an elegant and heroic,quasi acrobatic interpretation of this splendid cavatina & cabaletta.

I attended the performance and everyone was stunned ! Not just for the high E but the whole fantastic opera. A real triumph for Donizetti.
Me encanta! Tiene el timbre que podíamos imaginar en los tenores de la época como Gilbert Duprez o el malogrado Albert Nourrit que no llegó a cantar el papel. Tengo la grabación completa de la ópera y esta muy bien realizada. Todo un redescubrimiento de esta obra de Donizetti tan francesa y tan dramática

Î love this interpretation and before yesterday Î was angry against the tce in Paris because I wanted to get this record, they had No CD of M Spyres and they said to me, it is not release but it was and Î finded it in the Fnac!!

very well sung, but surprisingly trite music for Donizetti -- maybe the influence of Meyerbeer and French taste
