This is back when I really tried playing the game semi competitively. Royal oppression and trap dustshoot were 2 of my favorite cards that slide wonderfully into monarch oppression and gadget oppression back in the day. Sadly I was broke lol so I couldn't get everything but 1 for 1s and plus ones were the name of the game.
Absolute legend for sure. Trying to understand how/why to use Solemn Judgment was a huge component of this era (and into TeleDAD)- and Adam was the best.
@@YGOHistory The top feature match in which he won without using his two set solemns will always be the one game that stuck in mind. At the time, that play seemed unbelievable. But it was not "conservative play", he simply had no valid reason to just use them in those scenarios. Definitely had an impact on how people had to actually learn how to use solemn properly.
Love these histories. You mentioned towards the beginning of the video top players being smart and selective when playing their weaker monsters. Were there any specifics of when to play the smaller monsters, such as Dekoichi, without a back row in non gladiator beast match ups?
If you have no backrows and only Dekoichis - you are not likely to win. Set and hope might be all you have. You won't get punished unless they have Test Tiger (for Darius + Bestiari or Secutor). The might be needed to see action.
This makes me wonder: Do you think a Volcanic Prime Material Dragon Monarch deck could have seen success during this format? Rocket is a strong summon against Glads and Shell interacts favorably with Prime. It would look similar to this deck, just with the Volcanic cards over some of the dark support and lesser flip monsters. You could also play Wind Blast and maybe Avarice, which are just very strong in general.
Much how thunder dragon was discovered years after in goat, I’ve been thinking a lot that the volcanic engine with discard cards would be very similar in 07-10 yugioh. The value of putting rocket on board after searching with wind blast/ break on board is rather powerful.
Cool! If you've seen it, Dario Longo's top 8 worlds 07 gadgets is one of the first lists at the tiime when gadgets could bypass the advantage of monarchs and dustshoot. And Lainez's edison list was unique and simple at the time, etc Great content as always.
Thanks for this content! i love this kind of videos
Really love the deck profiles with cards. Love the content and keep it up !
Glad you like them!
Hope adam sees this one of my fav decks ever
Honestly same. This era of Yugioh is probably my favorite of all time. So many powerful decks, and this one was one of the better control decks.
Great profile Joe! Like decks that need knowledge to play not common cards as a high risk, high reward. 👌🏿
For sure. This deck was absolutely that.

Man i was just a kid and wasn't playing competitively when this happened, but Adam Corn was a legend. It's a shame he was banned multiple times after

@@uraoka4494 It really boiled down to things like... well this Goyo on my Stardust is annoying but not gamebreaking - might as well keep Solemn set.
@@uraoka4494 can you give me the link to that feature match?

So this did exist but never to the level of other top decks.
Best best content 😃 yourself ruxin jobber and casual yugi are top of the pile :p can’t wait to see a gadget deck off you
I have slowly been picking up the pieces to this. Few more TU Gadgets away.
Cool!
