Himmel is an inspiration regardless of who or where you are.

im not religious but i pray he have a good and healthy life
Sein straight up yelling "JUST DATE ALREADY!" before he left was hilarious. That's the voice of a man has gone through months of teenage angst and knows that he's not gonna be here to see them finally get together.
The phrase "It's what Himmel the Hero would've do." gave me moral boost.
I just noticed the scene of Stark with the cow in the second half could mean that he's learning to be more gentle and controlling his strength better, which makes sense after the little fight he had with Fern in the first half! This anime really is the perfect example of "show, don't tell" when it comes to character development
I also liked their observation that he might have chosen not to be in the room with Fern to embarrass her. At first I just thought it was him helping out someone like he always does - but there's at least 2 other layers there!
Something I noticed about that scene when Stark had his hand on Fern's shoulder is that he didn't bruise or even slightly hurt her, it was just the fact that he was stronger that startled Fern. It was like she enjoyed his touch and show of strength (even if he believed he was being normal with his touch) yet was scared by it. It was like a she was experiencing something new and very unfamiliar.
@@tjjordan4207 idk if "enjoyed" is the right word here, imo it just caught her by surprise and it's not uncommon for kids around stark's age to not have control over their strength, so like maybe for Stark it was just "grabbing her shoulder" without realizing maybe Fern couldn't move her shoulder at all and for a moment got scared (+ it was by surprise from behind)
@@yuukoto308 When I said/wrote "enjoyed" I meant more that Fern may have actually got a sense of excitement over it. In a way that it's scary but a little exciting due to it being unfamiliar. Like a rollercoaster ride. She does say "I didn't mind him touching me" or something along those lines, which hints that she may have liked it to some extent but also not liking how scary it was.

An ending song so good, they used it for the whole series, first half for the first half and the second half for the second.
I used to live in the Yukon, which is Alaska, turn right. Winters occasionally hit -60c (-76f). During this time, cars travelling the Alaska Highway would find their cars stopped in the middle of absolutely no where. When temperatures hit these extremes, people living in cabin near the highway would go out walking (at night) looking for stalled cars so they could invite the people inside so they don't die. This really is the way people are when conditions are harsh and 'civilisation' is far away. We used to call the world south of us 'The Outside' because we found it so strange. Now I live in Taiwan. Sightly different climate.
The new ending is the second verse of the song from the first ending.
The way I interpreted the ending when I first watched it was Frieren lying near the grave of one of the closest person in her life, then as the animation progresses it shows her wanting to meet them again (and also i could understand the lyrics line by line as i was watching the ed). When it reaches the end, with the first shot but instead of the tombstone it's fern, it legit fuked me up, i instinctively broke down at that shot for the next 5 mins.
It just showed that after Himmel, the human she is most closest to is Fern, just as in the episode Frieren said she has known Fern since she was just 7-8, basically an adoptive mother at this point. That scene made me realise how it would feel for Frieren to lose some like Fern.
Fuk that legit hit me like a truck but it was soo beautifully done.
I think it can only be experienced for the very first time, being led by the animation with the lyrics you can understand while listening to it(its ok if someone made an English cover of the ed and put it in the background).

Nah, there's a lot of people who actually believe the ending is about Fern, which is wrong but I won't blame people for interpreting it like that since the director was very ambiguous when it came to the second ending and didn't quite send a solid message as to who the ending was chanting to. Then again, it makes no sense for the ending to be this grim when the story isn't mean to progress after Fern's death at all nor is meant to be such a tragic story for Frieren as a character
That's not Himmel's grave. If you watch that Ending sequence again carefully, Im sure you know whose grave that is
don't mean to be a mood killer, but check out the first shot in the new ED, and compare it to the last shot. Then rewatch the whole ED again with that context.

The ending is about Frieren and Fern relationship and it implies it's Fern's grave in the future and that's Frieren's fear when that time comes. I imagine she doesn't know with what's happening between Fern and Stark so thinks that she'll be alone in the future and doesn't realize that she'll be looking after their future kids and grandchildren.
i believe the shady magician in the shop is a reference to the founder of the Band Heilung, its to ridiculous close (accurate).
I love the progression of Frieren itself, she can more handle her feelings and expression far better than on the start of the show. And thats what i love so much, Prez says it "beeing in the Moment".

Welp, more opening watching, more spoilers seen.
My theory with Sein is now that he has split from the party he will find that Gorilla has died which will eventually lead him back to Frieren & Co. in order to find heaven so that he can finally see his friend again. At that point if the story continues he will probably be a permanent companion. I even have a small theory about him eventually (way down the road) hooking up with Frieren.
I think he will end with smn else, but can't say the name yet - spolers
since she's a fictional character, I don't mind, and I can enjoy her character, but if I knew her irl, I would HATE fern lmao. like, don't dish out what you can't take??? I'll touch your face with my cold hand a thousand more times, because you did it to me and have the gall to complain about it.

It was stated that she doesn't mind Stark putting his cold hands on her face. She was mad because she got scared by Stark's grip strength
