Hey Tristan, I have a 97 honda civic LXI hatch, Auto, and just wanting to know what I can do to an auto civic just to get that extra pep out of it. Im really just tryna stance it for now, but would like that extra push when needed, love the content, keep up the grind, cheers
Deezy! mate I hope you are well, with an older auto they cant really be tuned, i think you are on the right path, stance it out for now get it clean and tidy, and save up for a kswap or something similar dont waste a single cent on the auto or the d series, I dont care what any one says its not worth it and a waste of time, keep the hood closed at meets until you can afford a manual kswap
Good vid. But my things is money. Budget is tight. I have a 87 Honda civic 4wd wagon. Has a d15a2 and tryd to just do a head swap but that is not a option. D16Y8 head is bigger. So this Saturday I'm picking up a whole motor d16y8. I have p29 pistons don't know if gonna use them. Want to turbo the y8...
great option graig and a great car if money is really tight you could just turbo your wago with the d15, but yes a y8 is a much better option if you have the funds available
I dont believe so they should run a p72 or p28 ecu to start with , just a matter of getting the chip fitted and uploading the software, you can even do it yourself there are some great tutorials on youtube, you need to cut a little section out of the casing to plug in with the laptop
@@TURBOTRISTO we've got it working already, but the speedo doesn't work and we had to use the adapter to plug it in. Can send vid, or pics for you to confirm. When it was running, i could see the fuel map bouncing around in open loop mode
Hey mate! First of all pretty nice video! A lot of useful information in it. But I have a question for you. What would you recommend if I would like to supercharge an old Ford Cougar 2.0? What kind of superchargers should I look for? Everything which is important to do it properly. What I want is to rise the power just a bit (30-40% of boost). I'll be really happy if you made a video explaining what and where and how. Thanks a lot!
I may consider making a supercharger video soon, I love a good supercharger whine, for the cougar I would look for a Toyota or Volkswagen supercharger for cheap or buy a new rotax style supercharger, a turbo will always be better for tunability and efficiency, but what ever type of boost you like is cool as long as you spool up mate!
I don't need the oil stuff if I do a coolant cooled turbo right? I mean I know I don't need to tap the block anymore. I guess my question is what do i do for the feed and drain lines
@TURBOTRISTAN thank you Tristan! Very helpful and it let me know more than I was asking about and all useful information. I will check out the other videos.
hey tristan, really want to turbo my auto civic ek1, not too interested in manual swapping and am willing to spend aorund 1500? kind of just looking for a fun project. not gonna push it too hard either. is it worth doing?
yeah low boost around 5 psi you can safley slap on a ebay turbo kit check my other d16 turbo videos, certainly worth it, if it ever blows up and you want to keep the DO NOT build a d16 just engine swap it Kswap is the go
people that say "Immediately" are fools, if you increase the torque by too much you will cook your converter and the transmission will slip like a slipping clutch, the best way to rectify this is to run a large transmission cooler they cost about $50aud and take 10 mins to fit undo the hose that runs through the bottom of the radiator and re route it to the front mount transcooler , it will be fine unless you try to do 10 launches in a row
ive just done some more research and am realising that 1.5k is very optimistic, especially considering the cheapest kit i can find is 1.3k. let alone if i wanted an ecu. im guessing theres nothing cheaper to add some extra horsepower, especially to an auto.
