I know it’s so difficult and time consuming to do… but if apologia put out a commentary on the whole bible… I cannot imagine the impact that it would have. To have all of those cross references putting the OT and NT pieces together in the way they are supposed to be understood would be absolutely ground breaking
I am convinced you come to the same conclusions Jeff Durbin does in this sermon by simply reading the whole counsel of the Bible without the previous frameworks of premillennialism taught in our modern churches. I taught premill Revelation in a Bible study in depth for two and a half years. This past year I have finally tried to read Scripture shredding any preconceived concepts I had. The Spirit can make it so simple and clear when we are really just trying to read the Word, stripping ourselves of all our personal notions we might bring to it. It humbles me to think about how prideful I can be, even in how I interpret God's Word.
I started reading in context 9 months ago and I have been tracking and noting things that I'm now realizing are explained by a post mil eschatology. I agree. It seems like if you just read in context these things become clear
This was such a wonderful revelation for me! I just recently committed to reading the word from Genesis to Revelation and am currently in Ezekiel as I listened to this sermon. In light of everything I've learned in my readings over the last month or so, this interpretation of the text, and especially of the imagery, is absolutely consistent with how the Lord works. Great job Jeff. I'm reading Kenneth Gentry's "He Shall Have Dominion". I pray for your ministry. That it will reach the church with this eschatology of hope. That people will take the great commission literally. Stop looking to CNN to understand the book of Revelation and chapter's like Matthew 24. Realize we have the Holy Spirit and are equipped to be workers in his Kingdom that is NOW. Our God is doing wonderous acts around the world despite the sleepy Christianity that is predominantly in the West. We have so many unreached people groups (including western churches). Let us be about the work of making disciples for Messiah gathering in all his people he has called to his glorious family. Thank you for your preaching. Your understanding of Van Til, Bahnsen, Rushdoony, North, Jordan, and Gentry. May your ministry raise up theonomic thinking men and women who are willing to serve God in civil service at the city, state, and federal level. Not afraid to proclaim the crown rights of Christ in all of life!!
I feel so much joy. Our Lord has this! I still don't know hardly enough, but I am starting to see through the fog of understanding the beginning of who our God truly is. Tears again at the end when my understanding continues to grow in who my Lord and Saviour is and what He has truly done and continues to do. Amen ❤❤❤
I can't express enough how profound of a message this is.. not only had I seen these things since becoming reformed but to have such detail laid out in such a beautiful way really brought me to tears.. especially when the Priest said as Jeff quoted, "We have no king but Cesar"... When we mix the old covenant (OT) w/the new covenant (NT) it's like being married to Jesus (the bride of Christ) & committing adultery, or having an affair w/Moses. Jesus is literally saying the old covenant will pass away but the new covenant will never pass away When God gave his words or his covenant to Israel it was considered the establishment of heaven and earth in scripture. Jesus in Matthew five and in Matthew 24 was speaking about the destruction of the covenant world of Israel So yes heaven and earth has passed away and the new heaven and earth have come which would mean that the Old Testament law passed away and the new covenant law of Christ has come! No you are making assumptions, please understand you leaped to a conclusion that is directly explained by paul in several places. I mean this humbly.The law is still in effect but it doesn't condemn nor glorify us. It is the expression of God's goodness on earth. The holiness code of thr law has been fulfilled in Christ but the judicial and civil law should still be applied. That doesn't mean the punishments necessarily not to the letter of the law but to the spirit of the law. For example part of the law is to put a fence on your roof for safety. Well how can we do that today. Putting a fence around pools. Making sure our properties are safe. Jeff likes to quote this one which full disclosure is where ive gotten it from. And if you look at the way Jesus spoke to the pharisees then it'll make sense from that view point. Basically its like putting a fence on your roof and saying there ive done what God said but your pool is wide open for a kid to fall in.

Most Postmillenialists (myself included) see a future where all the Jews will come to Christ. Some even think that the conversion of the Jews will cause a massive boost to the preaching of the gospel and global revival.

I became Postmil recently, and part of that was being heavily influenced by these kinds of sermons from Pastor Jeff. But I’m a little confused: they did an Apologia Radio episode debunking Full or Hyper-Preterism, and now Jeff is saying that Revelation 22 isn’t the eternal state? Hopefully someone from Apologia sees this comment and can clarify this for me. I totally agree that in eternity the nations won’t need healing, but I don’t quite understand how that isn’t Full Preterism to believe that Revelation 22 is already fulfilled and is not talking about the eternal state

It is the logical step after continued studying of Post mill. Because you will eventually realize that the new heavens and new earth are not literal. It is the Old Cov vs the New Cov, the law the stocheia from Gal 4 is the 'elements' that burned in fervent heat. After that it is tough to say salvation didn't come and judgment didn't come but everything else happened...

@@williambrewer Sorry, William, that does not work: The judgment of all men is at the end of the millennium-- Revelation 20:10f. The judgment of all men is at the coming of the Lord. But the coming of the Lord in judgment of all men was at hand, coming soon, shortly and quickly when John wrote- Revelation 22:12. Therefore, the end of the millennium was coming soon, shortly and quickly when John wrote Revelation.

How if you just went through all of the scriptures that talk about a new heaven and earth and affirmed it was here now?
Does anybody know what reference James White Gave Jeff during the message at about the 52:00 - 52:20 minute mark? Jeff asks James if it was Pink’s commentary on Hebrews that expands upon the idea that this is referring to the destruction of the old covenant order. I couldn’t make out what James tells him. It was kind of garbled and muffled to hear what James response was.
Mr. Durbin, since Dr. White is not willing to debate Don Preston on eschatology, I would love to see a debate between yourself and Mr. Preston. Although you make a lot of really good points in this sermon, I'm afraid you're not taking what you're saying to it's logical and biblical conclusion.
@@merecatholicity well, that's a typical response. I'd actually like to hear what Mr. Durbin's interpretation of "Heaven and Earth" is in 2 Peter 3. Does he believe "Heaven and Earth" was destroyed in 70 AD? Is the New Heaven and New Earth in Isaiah 65 created immediately after the destruction of Old Covanent Israel, i.e. "Heaven and Earth"? This lesson leaves so many questions to be answered in my mind.
@@Orangeokie7 I agree, this lesson does leave a lot of questions unanswered. I would imagine that he does take 2 Peter 3 as referencing the collapse of the temple, with the new creation constituting the new covenant. My theory is that most partial preterists mistake the "parousia" and that is why they seem inconsistent trying to make the parousia both 70 AD and the second coming. This inconsistency is what leads to full preterism. However, I think this can be resolved when one comes to a clearer understanding of "parousia."

I wonder why Tertullian, Ireneaus and many of the church leaders wrote that John was sent to Patmos during the reign of Domitian (ad 81-96)and it wasn’t until Nervas reign (96-98) that John was released back home to Ephesus according to Tertullian. Jerusalem was destroyed in ad 70.

Jeff, who are His covenant people? Is it just the Jews of the day? Aren’t there 11 other tribes? We’re they not the sons of Jacob? The NT is the Gospel message to those tribes (Gentiles), when the two sticks become one. Jesus was speaking about the destruction of Jeruzalem and as Josephus noted not a Christian was killed.
Something that stands out to me about this sermon is that it seems that Jeff’s understanding of “Jews” and “Gentiles” is misunderstood. There is a Israelite understanding of the word... but to call it “jewish” is giving too much weight to modern day blasphemers that claim to be of the tribe of Jude.
I'm with you but what do we do with Is.66:23 and the mention of all flesh worshipping YHWH on New Moons and Sabbaths? I thought New Covenant did not include these.. Also in verse 17 - speaks of judgment on those consuming swine and idol worship.. but New Covenant theologians primarily confirm that Lev. dietary laws do not apply to New Cov. members.

I believe this is speaking about the Jews in the first century who had rejected God’s covenant. These were the ones who were hardened for judgement...... It’s no longer a special day of just the sabbath or just a new moon. It’s from one sabbath, all the way to the next...... Acts 2:46 ¶ And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, That’s what they did. I would argue that "Heaven and Earth" a proper noun that describes "an old orderly arrangement" is NOT in reference to "the Old Covenant." I was tracking along in agreement until about the final 1 minute mark, where you went off the rails with a soon "ultimate final victory". Disagree. Believers are already resurrected, even in our perishable bodies. Biblical death is spiritual. Adam died spiritually in the garden. The death was spiritual and so also is the new life. That "ultimate final victory" is already now! No need to hope for something that you already have. I give you a 99% sir! "Whoever believes in me shall never die".

Let's also not venture beyond the text and argue that there is a future from us 2nd coming. Scripture puts the end of the age, coming of the NH NE, salvation, resurrection and judgment all at the same time (burden of proof is one those who descent from this). If all those other things occurred, then the 2nd coming occurred as well even if some don't like the nature of the 2nd coming. Jesus said he would come on the clouds. Just as the LORD came on a cloud into Edom...not literal. But as pulling the Babylonian army against Edom...So too Jesus came on a cloud pulling the Romans into Jerusalem. I am open to a future return, but need evidence from the text that shows different from the coming on clouds at the same time as the end of the Old Covenant, temple etc...

GOD IS NOT A LITERAL TORTURER. GOD is LOVE. He only gives eternal life to those who exercise faith in him and his Son (John 3:16, John 14:1) and NOT TO WICKED people. Do you use I am, me, myself, me alone for ONE LITERAL PERSON or THREE PERSONS? You only use those phrases for ONE literal person and NEVER FOR THREE PERSONS. Is Jesus described as a Morning Star like the Angels? Yes. Rev 22:16 - 16 “‘I, Jesus, sent my angel to bear witness to you about these things for the congregations. I am convinced you come to the same conclusions Jeff Durbin does in this sermon by simply reading the whole counsel of the Bible without the previous frameworks of premillennialism taught in our modern churches. I taught premill Revelation in a Bible study in depth for two and a half years. This past year I have finally tried to read Scripture shredding any preconceived concepts I had. The Spirit can make it so simple and clear when we are really just trying to read the Word, stripping ourselves of all our personal notions we might bring to it. It humbles me to think about how prideful I can be, even in how I interpret God's Word.
I started reading in context 9 months ago and I have been tracking and noting things that I'm now realizing are explained by a post mil eschatology. I agree. It seems like if you just read in context these things become clear
This was such a wonderful revelation for me! I just recently committed to reading the word from Genesis to Revelation and am currently in Ezekiel as I listened to this sermon. In light of everything I've learned in my readings over the last month or so, this interpretation of the text, and especially of the imagery, is absolutely consistent with how the Lord works.

Realized millenium is the biblical position that really let scriptures interpret scriptures.
Jesus is literally saying the old covenant will pass away but the new covenant will never pass away
When God gave his words or his covenant to Israel it was considered the establishment of heaven and earth in scripture.
Jesus in Matthew five and in Matthew 24 was speaking about the destruction of the covenant world of Israel
So yes heaven and earth has passed away and the new heaven and earth have come which would mean that the Old Testament law passed away and the new covenant law of Christ has come!

No you are making assumptions, please understand you leaped to a conclusion that is directly explained by paul in several places. I mean this humbly.The law is still in effect but it doesn't condemn nor glorify us. It is the expression of God's goodness on earth. The holiness code of thr law has been fulfilled in Christ but the judicial and civil law should still be applied. That doesn't mean the punishments necessarily not to the letter of the law but to the spirit of the law. For example part of the law is to put a fence on your roof for safety. Well how can we do that today. Putting a fence around pools. Making sure our properties are safe. Jeff likes to quote this one which full disclosure is where ive gotten it from. And if you look at the way Jesus spoke to the pharisees then it'll make sense from that view point. Basically its like putting a fence on your roof and saying there ive done what God said but your pool is wide open for a kid to fall in.

Does anybody know what reference James White Gave Jeff during the message at about the 52:00 - 52:20 minute mark? Jeff asks James if it was Pink’s commentary on Hebrews that expands upon the idea that this is referring to the destruction of the old covenant order. I couldn’t make out what James tells him. It was kind of garbled and muffled to hear what James response was.
Mr. Durbin, since Dr. White is not willing to debate Don Preston on eschatology, I would love to see a debate between yourself and Mr. Preston. Although you make a lot of really good points in this sermon, I'm afraid you're not taking what you're saying to it's logical and biblical conclusion.

@@merecatholicity well, that's a typical response. I'd actually like to hear what Mr. Durbin's interpretation of "Heaven and Earth" is in 2 Peter 3. Does he believe "Heaven and Earth" was destroyed in 70 AD? Is the New Heaven and New Earth in Isaiah 65 created immediately after the destruction of Old Covanent Israel, i.e. "Heaven and Earth"? This lesson leaves so many questions to be answered in my mind.
@@Orangeokie7 I agree, this lesson does leave a lot of questions unanswered. I would imagine that he does take 2 Peter 3 as referencing the collapse of the temple, with the new creation constituting the new covenant.
My theory is that most partial preterists mistake the "parousia" and that is why they seem inconsistent trying to make the parousia both 70 AD and the second coming. This inconsistency is what leads to full preterism. However, I think this can be resolved when one comes to a clearer understanding of "parousia."

Jerusalem was destroyed in ad 70.

Something that stands out to me about this sermon is that it seems that Jeff’s understanding of “Jews” and “Gentiles” is misunderstood.
There is a Israelite understanding of the word... but to call it “jewish” is giving too much weight to modern day blasphemers that claim to be of the tribe of Jude.
I'm with you but what do we do with Is.66:23 and the mention of all flesh worshipping YHWH on New Moons and Sabbaths? I thought New Covenant did not include these.. Also in verse 17 - speaks of judgment on those consuming swine and idol worship.. but New Covenant theologians primarily confirm that Lev. dietary laws do not apply to New Cov. members.

Jesus said the law was a heavy burden, grievous to be born. He would give them rest. The new covenant began after His death and resurrection.

That’s every day. It’s no longer a special day of just the sabbath or just a new moon. It’s from one sabbath, all the way to the next......

That’s what they did. Every day is for the Lord in the new covenant. Every day is Holy.

Let's also not venture beyond the text and argue that there is a future from us 2nd coming. Scripture puts the end of the age, coming of the NH NE, salvation, resurrection and judgment all at the same time (burden of proof is one those who descent from this). If all those other things occurred, then the 2nd coming occurred as well even if some don't like the nature of the 2nd coming. Jesus said he would come on the clouds. Just as the LORD came on a cloud into Edom...not literal. But as pulling the Babylonian army against Edom...So too Jesus came on a cloud pulling the Romans into Jerusalem.
I am open to a future return, but need evidence from the text that shows different from the coming on clouds at the same time as the end of the Old Covenant, temple etc...

"The NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon" defines theos as "a god" as well. so it is a valid translation. Also Thayer's Greek Lexicon also defines theos as "a god" so it is a valid translation
