    This is a nice set. I didn't realize before that it used air compressors, that makes it even cooler

    nice review Alex :) but I still prefer the Volvo EW160E which is similar to this one and you can even motorize it (if you have the extra parts/motors), the instruction is included at the end of the manual. I paid only $105 CAD (instead of $150) back in 2018 for a set that has 300 more pieces. This one costs $200 CAD for 835 pieces

      That Volvo was a much better value.

    Good review as always, I like your format. I noticed your kids didn't pop into the build video like some of your other ones, guess they're not into the technic eh? It's not for everyone I must admit, but I love how in the last 10 years or so Lego has really integrated the technic structures with system to provide that needed structure and stability for the larger sets, we can't deny the usefulness that Technic brings to the game.

    Nice review Alex.
    I'm a sucker for pneumatic Technic sets, and I'll be getting this at one point, but this thing is WAY overpriced, it's just crazy! Shame on you LEGO...

      @@dustyncombs6140 Even with the current inflation, this shouldn't be more than $100 max! $120 is criminal but attainable if it's goes on sale somewhere, but $150?!!!

    That's great that you got an early review again. It's gotta help your channel numbers. Have you mentioned how you've done that? I'm not a creator, so I'm just curious.

    $150? The app-controlled transformation vehicles had a Bluetooth battery box controller and two motors for less than that!

    • @natbarmore
      @natbarmore 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That raises an interesting question: I wonder whether motors (and battery boxes) are more or less expensive to produce than the pneumatics? My gut reaction is that the electronics are definitely more expensive. But with the commodification and miniaturization of electronic parts, and the tight tolerances needed to make an air-tight system, maybe the price differential isn’t as much as I would think?
      (Also, 42140 is surprisingly cheap, given 2 motors and a smart hub. It may be what we’d prefer, but I don’t know that it’s realistic to use that as a benchmark.)

    • @kentslocum
      @kentslocum 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@natbarmore Now that I think about it, I bet the $150 represents the price after the August 1st price increases. It would be better to make the comparison after the other Technic sets receive their price increases.

      @@natbarmore the 42080 Forest Harvester was $150 US when it released in 2018, has 1003 pieces and it's a pneumatic set that came with a PF large motor and battery box (i know, it's the old PF, not the new Technic hub and technic motor with the control+ app, but still). You can even get the set for the same price (or little bit less) from Bricklink, new and sealed.

    • @danielsala81
      @danielsala81 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kent Slocum and if you don't care about motors/motorization at all, you can get the Heavy-duty Tow Truck for the same price as this one and has over 2000 pieces :)

    So you just reviewed a LEGO set without mentioning that it is sponsored by LEGO? Now I am not insinuating that is why you did not mention how ridiculously overpriced this is compared to other Technic sets, that it can not be motorized and whatnot, but it is ethically wrong and a slippery slope, my good man.
