Joining Steve on stage are Billy Sheehan on bass; Tony MacAlpine on guitar and keyboards; Dave Weiner on 7-string guitar; and Virgil Donati on drums.
With approximately 4 hours of content, the "Live At The Astoria" is a must-have for any Vai fan. The 2-disc DVD contains live footage of 21 songs, along with backstage and behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with band members, band biographies, the Vai discography and Los Angeles rehearsal footage.

Steve, is not an arrogant musician, he's sensitive to his audience, and gives them only the best of his creativity, talent, and performance! This is probably my favorite Steve Vai instrumental. I've loved it ever since the Astoria DVD came out. This song has special meaning to me, as i went to see Vai as part of G3 in Copenhagen, 2004, and i was hoping he would play it. He did. A blinding version that blew me away. That same night, i hooked up with the beautiful woman who became my wife (Been happily together for 15 years now). This song will always stay with me, and remind me of that night. Magic in the air, in music and between people.

Every song is a tale. You may not be touched by his music or you may be. But you can’t stay insensible to the way he uses his guitar to tell a story. He is a great musician. A real great musician.
This kind of sound can not be considered guitar playing in the traditional sense. The long flowing legato sound opens up a completely different universe.

That's a guitar. The sonic possibilities made available by electric effects make the playing un-guitar like in the traditional sense. It's not a bad thing, if that was unclear.
this should be showed to all those who consider Vai only a virtuoso, here you can feel the soul he has, a graceful one, beautiful tune, thanks Vai, you are a huge inspiration for a Young guitarist who hopes, one day, to express as much emotion and beauty as you do:)

I'm proud to say I grew up in the 90s born in the 80s, some of the greatest of greats I've seen and gone, music just is not the same!!! Wind in your hair, that lustrous guitar singing to your soul and not your ears, late nights rockn rollin, parties that lasted days even weeks, those times you followed your favorite band on bus not Twitter or Instagram, the times we snuck in to see the show even if it was a headliner band. Man I must be getting older... miss the good ol times when music meant more than just some thing, it stood for hope, it stood for rebellion, it stood up for us when no one else would man I love rock n roll n I love an amazing guitar player like Vai

That how i FEEL with this masterpiece! That's just how Awesome, Steve is . I have never felt that before in my life. To want to cry just by listening a song! After using the double locking units, I can't see myself stepping back to anything else. There's no worry of the unit going out of tune if used aggressively. Absolutely love the things!
This is the ultimate connect with everything experience, it starts very slow and then you get transported somewhere magical, you get bombarded with magnifisence, and then its like when your parents magical take you from the car, asleep to your tight bed.

I have been playing guitar off and on since high school. last year I listened to steve via and his music reignited me to start playing again. the only problem I have is I don't have power or money to even buy any ibenez guitar less all the equipment. so i'll just keep on dreaming.
