I've been fly fishing for CARP since the 1970's here in Santa Barbara and Goleta slew, Carpenteria and many places that I will not mention!!!! and when I lived in Glendale when I had to leave home for school and work down there!!! the LA River was and still is fantastic for fly fishing for carp!! and I must say I am truly excited about your fly I just purchased some materials down at Marriott's and I'm gonna tie a variety!! GREAT TIE......and I've been purchasing materials from FTD for years and that PRIVATE STASH DUBBING iS MY FAVORITE!! the Mad Scientist sent me a sample a number of years ago and its all GREAT...

Thank you! I'm a huge fan of this pattern, simple, versatile and light on the drop! Oooohhhh so good! FTD has amazing materials at such a reasonable price which makes me feel like buying more! 😁 Enjoy the fly, I know you'll find success!

The twisting of the Marabou is a great idea! Oh question for ya Tornado, is there a reason why you did not want to use wire to wrap the body? Maybe carp can taste or sense the wire? Or is it you wanted it as light as possible? Appreciate your response in advance! Thank you for tying a carp fly!!!

Terr just trying to keep the fly as light as possible and minimize the flash. If you had ultra fine wire that would work just fine too! Thanks for the question!

I'm interested in the last black dubbing, I couldn't find anything, what it actually is, can it be replaced with a black deer, does it have the same properties?
I've never seen these hybrids between a lure and a nymph, I'll try...

The dubbing is synthetic, better to use a yarn, perhaps some small rubber bands mixed in. Deer hair would float and not work. Good luck!
