The city centre is massive, it would take at least 5 hours to walk from the bear pit to bedminster bridge with how busy it is, even if your a fast person

I remember there was a Banksy Mural painted on the side of a house in Cato Street, Easton. It’s was estimated to have a higher value than the end terrace house it was painted on, if I remember correctly the owners tried to sell it as ‘A Banksy Painting with house attached’. Sadly for the owners, after their plans became known, the mural was vandalised before they had a chance to sell it.

Thank you Vicki for showing a few places of interest in Bristol. There were other Banksy artworks in earlier years but they were painted over by angry residents. One of the best was the heli rat on a gatepost in Hensman's Hill, since seen only in the US of A.
    Now available from: www.etsy.com/listing/101682832/banksy-rat-stencil-flying-helicopter-rat
I also found a rat-with-saw on a boarded up shop in Broadmead, duly photographed and made into a tee shirt.

Bristol is also home to Massive Attack, Portishead and other music artists & bands and that is where Trip Hop music was first made and heard of back in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Plus Bristol is sometimes known as “Indie-Town”. And also has 2 small popular football teams-Bristol City & Bristol Rovers who are in the EFL and are known as “Tinpot clubs”. 😂🤣

We had a guy staying in our hostel and someone swore he was Banksy. The bloke did know about graffiti art. Don't know about the accent.
There is a covered up Banksy on the square brick vent shaft, at ground level, for the multi storey car park opposite Afflek's Palace in Manchester. It was only a couple of feet across. It was covered in perspex because it had got quite tatty underneath. I used to pass it regularly but it was boarded over last year.

My mother's father was born in Bristol, where I believe his family owned a pub. He emigrated to Canada when he was around 12 (c. 1910), then moved to Chicago, where I still live. My mom and sister and I visited distant cousins in Bristol in 1978. They were very nice and _extremely_ proud of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, which they made sure we visited. I'd love to go back to the UK to ride the rails as you folks do, but my wife isn't up to it, alas, so I watch your videos instead. Cheers!

Interesting tour of Bristol. I'll look out for the artwork next time I'm in the city. The M Shed Museum and Bristol Harbor Railway are a shadow of what they used to be. The M Shed Museum used to have a huge model railway which was scrapped when the museum was refurbished and the Bristol Harbor Railway was 1 1/2 miles long but since then most of it has been converted into a bus way.

We were visiting my daughter in Bristol last Easter and happened to spot the 'Well hung lover' completely by chance from the top deck of a bus. Rather randomly, we then heard about a Banksy exhibition in Gothenburg in the summer. Seeing as we live only half an hours drive away we just had to go, and I have to say it was the best art exhibition I've ever been to!

Excellent Video! On a recent charter train trip to Bristol, We took a ferry to SS Great Britain, and had a walk round it and a drink on a boat cafe. Walked up to the Clifton Suspension Bridge along the river valley. Walked through Clifton and down a hidden passageway with steep steps with a random bus stop along it back down the hill . Walked all the way back along the docks to Queen Square and then back to Temple Meads and tea on the train home. Done in around 6 hours. Loverly sunny day.

@Pet C Not all uni students like getting pissed every night if at all, do you really think someone watching a video on a channel about train stations would really want to go out every night?. I haven't been in Bristol long and have been fixated with my uni work and coping on my own for the first time, but seeing something that I recognised it was nice that someone else appreciated it too. And some of us do get off our phones when walking about, which has made me see a load of great graffiti in Bristol that isn't Banksy

@@rippawallet Honestly, I don't know how to explain properly. Maybe I have used the wrong word(?); English is not my first language. I live not far from the city centre, so it might be why.
These are just the feelings like "ah, that road I used to walk/cycle that day on the way to the party at my friend's place", or "ah, yes, I have been on the bus passing this countless times", or "aw, yeah, that's the alley next to my previous accommodation", or something like that.

Used to see loads of small ‘Banksy’s’ sprayed on walls around Park St and Clifton in the late 90s. Of course at the time he was unknown and they would be quickly painted over. There were some larger pieces dotted around that lasted several years, notably Welsh Back, St Paul’s and Easton but they’re long gone.
    Shame.

    • @thecornedbeefcouncil9792
      @thecornedbeefcouncil9792 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Pet C yet the Council in Bristol have set aside and actively encouraged graffiti art in several areas of the City. Ashton Gate has some large murals by local artists and they’re incredible. The large Banksy pieces on Welsh Back, St Paul’s (dedicated to a friend of his) and Easton as well as the ones that survive in Stokes Croft and Park Street are/where stunning. Nothing wrong with a bit of colour.
