The most honest account of the transition to the new RSA ever! Unfortunately as the minority, and excluded from most large local or national BEE deals, the traditional tax payer cannot comprehend how deep and the monumental amounts of money that is involved. (on a side note, Thabo Mbeki ran the country for 3 terms, Mandela was the worlds darling and was a symbol of unification-Mbeki had the intellect to keep the country going.) I also believe Zuma has been protected for years , as the”arms deal” was beneficial to all who held senior ANC positions in the Government at the time- He holds all the cards , and the comrades can’t afford for the genie to get out of the bottle. Same as state capture-if we wait long enough-it will slowly be forgotten-
Great show-keep up the good work-if only the masses were as informed of what is really going on-

I believe that the country has moved on from your analysis. I think that the black middle class which is now considerably larger than the white middle class. The time has come for citizens of the country to stand together based on common shared interests rather than colour.
I live and work in suburbs that were until recently predominantly white. This has changed dramatically in the past 5 years because of the decline in the size of the white population and the progress of the black middle class. It makes a mockery of the old trope that it is only white racists who want quality services in the suburbs.

Agree with you. There are ways to do it lawfully. A group of residents did it in KZN. My biggest issue is the massive double digit electricity increases which paying residents can no longer afford (to cover the deficit in the budget). A lot of people will have to chose between electricity and food (including the middle class). There are already many many in this situation. Electricity is becoming more expensive than rent and bond payments. On top of that there are massive deterioration of the infrastructure in all areas incl no workable robots, potholes, non functioning street lights and the list goes on... due to greed, fraud and corruption, cadre deployment and unqualified appointments

However, unless you are in an off-grid situation, the municipality has you by the short and curlies, they just turn off your water (unless the SAHRC can be convinced into doing something good for a change).

My small business used to have five full-time workers. Now there are only two left. My personal income has dropped by 30% over the last ten years and the amount I pay in income taxes is less than half what it used to be. I get audited by SARS every year because I pay less taxes every year and they want to know why. There's a tipping point being reached where the tax revenue the government can collect will fall off a cliff because nobody has jobs anymore.

Problem is that the people in government aren't thinking about the voter who pays taxes as their electorate. We are just a cash cow. Their focus is not on providing services but on politicking to keep their poverty stricken supporters hopeful and angry and on grabbing any funds for themselves. The national gov also doles out a good part of each municipal budget too so the effect of a boycott may not be as positive as one would hope. Personal income tax has to be reduced by the annual national irregular and wasteful expenditure including the bloated govt cost premium, benchmark against similar economies.

The only problem is that your company deducts your taxes from your salary and pays it to the Government. So how do you overcome this problem?

@wilmahechter266 as Mike said we have to start with local, that rates. After that you can start going higher

Stop letting the majority, non tax paying citizens vote!!! Or let them vote and let stop paying taxes. This is the one and only downfall of SA. The tax payers will never have Zuma's MK be a real thing or Cyril be president, EVER!

It's kind of hard to advocate for cut in wage bill when we have a shortage of teachers , nurses , doctors , judges and police men/ women.
Yes I agree that it kind of suck that rate payers of suburban area are short change cause allocation of resources are sometimes sent to areas where revenue isn't even generated for municipalities to fix roads and ect , while rate payers duck potholes .
Ps there are people in poor areas who pay for their municipal levels are also the biggest losser

The problem with this idea is it has to be well organised and done by hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people, in a coordinated and formal way.
It would require everyone to be on the same page, to all have the same or similar agenda and for everyone to agree on the boxes that need to be ticked before they agree to start paying taxes again.
It’s difficult to see the above actually happening.

I agree, it's time that tax payers stand together and stand up against these "ROBBERS" are you not tired giving +- 40% of your hard earned salary to the ROBBERS every month, not even talking about all the other taxes we are forced to pay daily.STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS,IT'S TIME TO ACT NOW!!!!!!
Mike where can I sign up for this????

This idea to with hold tax was discussed a few years back already. It is not that easy to do, too much legal implications. To mention one, if you want to sell your house, the transactions will not go through because the rates were not paid etc

I totally agree with you Mike, have been saying this for years , but we all have to stand together in order to make this work. before the elections I tried to encourage everyone to vote DA if the DA had got more seats. we would have been in so much more powerful position now in this coalition. instead they voted for all these stupid non productive parties. The biggest problem is getting people to stand together. I am all for it we need to stop this corruption and theft of our most valuable resources. but who is going to take the risk ...

Looking at the rates and taxes I have to agree. It's so detached from reality or sanity that it stops investment and consequently private sector job creation.
In a normal country a person with a beautiful house a business with many employees is admired. In South Africa you feel bad for the poor guy. Even worse if he has a factory or office building.

This must happen but emigration may have to max out a bit more. The middle class that exists is too divided by people with one eye on the out door, not wanting to compromise their prospects in pastures new where fairytales still exist about the reality of what they are trying to flee. But still, I am all for going for it now. Nuff z'nuff

Mike, the inference at 17:44 min is that those who are earning a salary (income taxes) are the only ones paying taxes and subsidizing those who are unemployed. This is a flawed argument.
Income Tax is one of the many avenues through which the commissioner receives funds.
everyone pays tax, in some sort of form

    • @mikesham3204
      @mikesham3204 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don't buy the "everyone pays taxes in some form argument". This is true in the case of VAT and fuel levies, but many billions of rands raised in direct taxes (PAYE and rates) are abused without any repercussion.
