    My views on solving the problem differs greatly.
    1. The quality of education in the country needs to improve dramatically. So that our citizens can produce more.
    2. The SARB needs to set aside a portion of it's reserves to invest in fast growing startups.
    3. The state needs to cut spending

    The deficit of the government costs every person nearly R470 per month let that sink in for a moment.... to the poor, this is humongous

  • @henkbarnard8338
    @henkbarnard8338 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

    The point of order is as follow:
    The government should not have any power to limit or impliment laws that restrict the economy. The government was created by the citizens to render a service to the people. They are thus servants.
    In this screwed country of us, the government is seeing us, the citizens, as serving the government and also paying them to serve them.
    That makes no sense.
    We have created the government to govern our surplus money and develop the land to create a place for our children to move into and start their own economic endavours. Thus, the role of the government is to serve the citizens, and get payed to do so, to expand the economic opportunities so that the economy grow with the population growth.
    Currently, the government is not expanding anything, not creating space for the growing population and just stuffing their pockets with our money while seeing themselves as our superiors. Therefore, the population has outgrown the economy in SA with 10% +... This action led to massive rural areas and townships being created by the growing population and also causing people to fail in getting jobs which lead to a massive jobless and poor society. So, to conclude: the great inequality currently in SA, has been created and tailor-made by the government over a period of 30 yrs while they have been living large on us, the tax payers', money... Trillions of rands have been looted and stolen by government officials over the years and exported to other countries through the buying of international luxury cars, brand clothing and many more luxury items that make the government servants' lives so so nice and easy...

    • @lorrainebotha5293

    • @johnwest2373

      The Westerners believed that the sanctions imposed on Russia will be a self-induced coma which is an emergency that requires immediate treatment, but the war is carrying on for almost 3 years (WW2 was 6 years) and Russia’s allies in the BRICS is getting stronger by the day. The worst is that Ramaphosa is silent on this while he is very outspoken on the Israel / Gaza conflict!

As long as the ANC remains (effectively) in power, with their potential membership growing fastest, there is absolutely no chance of them 'getting' this as it flies straight against their Socialist / Communist Ideology. Should we not be focussing max energy on developing a Viable Alternative that can demonstrate in measurable terms what is possible? Be that Western Cape as 'Independent State' - or whatever is possible. 7% plus growth p.a., International investment, Tech Innovation, Massive Education & Development drive, Safe Living Environment, Property Rights, Law and Order, Home to Families . . .

    In a Marxist Socialist regime like South Africa...😮 When U live in a country with a supposedly Capitalistism has a moral basis. Then unless U have Economic Freedom...U will have no Freedom at all.... This gentleman is talking so glibly about things, that aren't really true, because this ANC government certainty doesn't have the interests of people of South Africa at heart...The Private sectors and Industrialists are the ones who are the only ones, who can create wealth within in the country. The government has clear limits and boundaries to which the government cannot override, as they can't run everything and therefore shouldn't even try. Freedom for individual means having the ability to develop his or her talents so as they can develop their own economy freedom. This is the only way forward is to have a Capitalist society. But what has happened in the meantime. With a Socialist government is sooner than later, U will run out of everyone's and out of everybody else's money 🤑.... This has and is happening. Besides this ain't rocket science...😮 It's a fact...

Its just retards even china isnt communist as much as they say, and russia oppressed many slavs, fins,etc in their communism aswell as west germans for decades. That ideology was built on oppression, and people who say caiptal leads to war like Hani said once, im sure the mfecane was because of capitalism, aswell as every war over the centuries in Africa, euro, etc.

    The guy calls tax a form of theft but wants to have amazing roads and bridges and dams and public airports etc. For an old guy he knows what apartheid was like and yet says the government is restricting free trade because of a minimum wage?! Does he forget conveniently that the apartheid regime and private capital exploited workers so thoroughly it may well have been slavery. The basic conditions of employment act is a milestone piece of legislation and yet it's treated like a pariah piece of legislation yet exploitation led us there. Does he really think that people will be honest and pay fair wages in time when there are people out here selling fake food and the like? This far right ideology is what's left us to global pollution levels where they are and lung cancer from smoking. Companies lied to us and bribed politicians to avoid simple legislation. And when proposed legislation is touted they act like it's the end of the world of free trade and when it's enacted it's not . I like this show but please bring more credible,honest and pragmatic economists who can push this country forward with real proposals not pie in the sky ideas. Minimum wages has not moved the needle in any way in SA. And you can't call yourself a business if you can't pay minimum wages. Here are my proposals. Connect everyone to the internet , every rural child should have access to the internet in their home. An old PC or something ,access to Internet data should come down as a result. 2. Income tax should be derived from back yard dwellers in shacks all over the country and formalised for purposes of increasing access to credit. Reduce the military budget to one of high tech drones and an air force and navy instead of a big infantry, save the proceeds and redirect to technology startups. Impose a capital gains tax once off to pay off apartheid debt, and raise funds for a sovereign wealth fund. Reduce the social wage by cutting some grants given in exchange for a business loans and startup capital for the township and local income economy. Help businesses that are startups by paying for growth through a labour scheme where the unemployed but employable can work for startup businesses and gain valuable experience.

    • @powertechnical
      @powertechnical 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We don't need a minimum wage because it will not solve any problems. Jobs are the big problem and people need jobs. It is better to have low unemployment and everyone can earn money compared to high unemployment and a few people earn at minimum wage.
      Tax is a good and a bad thing. You do need tax money to fund for infrastructure and a good infrastructure will help other businesses to perform better. The problem with tax is if you take more and more tax money from people and waste it, then businesses and people will get less in return. Also more tax will make stuff more expensive and make life for poor people even more difficult.

    • @frikkiethirion8053

      Very little tax is used for infrastructure. Read up on the reserve bank system and you'll see what taxes are really used for.

      TAX IS ON YOUR SAVINGS, TAX is on your spending, tax is on your employment, tax is on your innovation, TAX IS ON YOUR PRODUCTION. TAX IS ON YOUR EMPLOYMENT. You can build a million roads it won't help if no one has jobs and the private sector can built roads and railways 10x faster and 10x better. Just wake up!

      The difference is they have more tax payers than those living on handouts. Out deficit is as a result of state capture and the socialist policies of the ANC under Zuma and the 9 million taxpayers supporting social grants for those millions unemployed. There is no plan from the ANC to grow the economy to fund future government expenditure and hence borrowing takes place to fund deficits and the interest bill is becoming the highest government expense in its own.
