For those in Current Year AD who may be wondering: Baldur's Gate 3 is working from the ending in which Baldur's Gate is protected, Elturel is saved, but Zariel is unredeemed.
I'm actually DMing this campaign and even having the sourcebook, reading the chapters in detail makes me forget the big picture of the campaign. That said, this video is a great guide for Descent into Avernus DMs, especially for those who want to prepare players for Baldur's Gate 3! Also, for those who intend to play in the future: I recommend playing the one-shot Fall of Elturel before the campaign, to connect players to the city, making everything a little bit more personal.

Part of me hopes that Larian will give a condensed video of Elturel's fall into Avernus and Zariel's story at the beginning of the game. Not every player will get to watch this video (though I would suggest it to anyone who plays the game) and it fleshes out the story so much. Kudos and thank you. Hey I really appreciate this comment. Good luck with your campaign. I’m sure it won’t go as smooth as the party in my narration 😂 You should comment back on this video when it’s over and let me know how your ending went!
Zariel being fully redeemed so quickly was a bit hokey, but not bad overall. Sounds like a fun campaign. Thanks for putting this together, I'm no DnD lore expert so this should help greatly with understanding the events and setting going into BG3.
I just listened to the entire show. Damn dude, you know how to grab attention and keep it. Fantastic job. So glad that I subscribed to your channel a while ago. Never disappointed, keep it up. 5/5 stars. Ordered a shirt, like the design a lot.
It’s been 2 years since this came out! I think I’ve listened to it so many times. I love painting minis while listening. So cool. I know it’s a huge task but I’d love to hear more modules narrated like this. Thanks!
Thank you so much for doing this! I'm a GM but also a very slow reader. Being able to listen to the plot of a module like this really helps me out with comprehension and being able to see an overall view of what a specific story entails. Would love to see more!
You have no idea how much I appreciate this video as someone who is preparing to run Decent into Avernus with my group of friends that will be playing BG3 together... I've put in over 500 hours into DoS2 and that's what got my friends and I into D&D 5e. We're beyond excited for BG3 and I can't wait to run this campaign with them before the game releases. Mad respect to you going through this much narration and story just to fill in players going into BG3 that won't get to experience this module... Much love brother, you deserve all of it and I hope you blow up!
This was epic. I am about to run Descent into Avernus with my DnD-group and this was a MASSIVE help to get my mind wrapped around the book! Great job and many thanks
my party was more like: "Look, we know you like killing demons, but so do we. Lets go kill Bel, put our evil sorcerer in charge, and then as an angel we can ally in the future to kill demon butts once you bring other angels/material plane people back"
Edit: Just finished this and it was AMAZING! Would love to see more of these in the future! Is this the only narration you've done? I'd LOVE to hear more in the future and look forward to it!!
Lovely narration! I heard this was a pre quel to BG3 so I had to check it out, it is unfortunate to know that Zariel is not redeemed as cannon, however, it does make sense since she basically went rogue and got herself involved in the blood war. Knowing this and other things about BG3's ending, this could easily become DLC, that or the Gyth war against Vlaakith, I know Larian doesn't have intentions of more story content but man, what a crime it would be if BG3 doesn't get any, there's plenty here for a decent sized story, or perhaps you know, a sequel which will be the most likely scenario.
Aasimar race and Artificer class could be added into Avernus DLC. If there is a DLC at all. Although.... War of the Sky DLC could be really interesting too. If Larian goes with War of the Sky DLC I still want Artificer to be a playable class but the new race I want would be Githzerai. Any of these two would be a great DLC.
First video I've seen from this channel and I must say, GREAT JOB! 👍 You sir, have gained a new follower. I'd love to see more full module narrations. This is a great way for dungeon masters to pick which one they should run for their party. Thank you for all the hard work you put into this video.

Really appreciate the story coverage to give the background of what's happening in BG3. I think knowing what happened in BG1, 2, and the campaign story right before the game really help with learning who the players are in the story, and what had been happening. I was also interesting to see Arkhan was part of the campaign.
Whoa! I like these long story vids! Parts 4 & 5 so packed with details I had to rewatch/relisten intently. I like your ending, Lulu saved everything through healing👏. Mahalo so much for putting it together! Awesomeness!✨
A lot of this feels subject to change depending on your party's decisions, but it's good to learn about these characters, locations and magical thingamabobs in case they show up in BG3.
Dang Wolf, this video is awesome!!! I know these narrations take a lot of time, but you did amazing and I hope you keep doing them. I can't wait to watch Icewind Dale!
This is the story (Adventure) that recent Dungeons and Dragons movie should have used for the movie. It would have been amazing. Enjoyable narration my friend. From start to finish.
Utterly fascinating. There was a trilogy taking place in Thay I read years ago and this reminded me of it to an extent. Very stoked to know the backstory of the setting BG3 is taking place in. Thanks for your commitment to quality, man.

In my campaing I just pulled lulu aside before heading off to face zhariel and pointed out that someone powerful had clearly saved from hell and only one powerful enogh to sent her to faerun, save her from beign killed in avernus and have a reason to do all of it was zhariel. Then I pointed out that she was one being that never betreyed her and zhariel seemed to care for her and thus I suggested that rather then resin whit her I’d hold lulu on knifes edge to threaten something she cared about rather than hope she’d have a change of heart, lulu agreed as that offered best chance to save city. When zhariel had freed eltruel and we were ascending back to faerun zhariel yelled to lulu she was sorry, that’s when my character sliced lulus throat. I did this to weaken command structure of avernus as zhariel had betreyed azmodeus and thus other devils would try to take her place and killing her friend would drive her to remain a devil thus ensuring a power struggle in avernus and that in turn would buy faerun more time to prepare when devils would inevitibly try to pull another city into avernus. Rest of my party didn’t like my action and wanted to kill me, but I pointed out that I had done everything to protect people of baldur’s gate and rest of the realm, if they wanted to make sure that killing me is righteous I should be judged by those whose right it should be to decide how far adventurers go to protect their civilizations. I was taken to baldur’s gate where i spoke in my defence; I started by pointing out we had done nothing to stop future descents, quite contrary we had proven how difficult it is to undone and thus same will inivitably happen in baldur’s gate. Then I said I hope baldur’s gates leadership will prove to be more competent to protect the city next time as the dukes had either helped to ensure gates fall, been unable to do anything from whitin fallen city, or been completely uninterested to bother whit such a devastating threath. “For know that I know not when, but I know that hell is coming for all of our civilization” whit these words citizen were driven into frenzy and I was elevated into a position of a king while former dukes were executed. Alas this is where the story endead

I love this! Definitely one of your best videos. I am thoroughly enjoying all of your D&D/Baldur's Gate content.👍
Hey thanks for watching!
I'm so glad you did this man. For the campaigns I don't get to play in with these modules often but Avernus looked so dope!
Learning about cannon form of this story has helped me A LOT in prepping to run it. Fantastic job!
great to hear! thanks
Thank you for putting that together, it was amazing to listen to.
Getting ready to run this campaign and your narrative as helped me a great deal! Thank you for all the hard work. I definitely enjoyed this immensely!
Awesome thanks for watching & have fun!
Thanks Bugado!!
Damn, I watched it all in one go, very captivating, SUBBED!
That’s awesome. Thanks so much!
A lot of this feels subject to change depending on your party's decisions, but it's good to learn about these characters, locations and magical thingamabobs in case they show up in BG3.
chills. and BG3 takes place directly after the ending of the descent. more chills. thanks man.
This is awesome, I'm so glad I came across this before I got into BG3. Thank you!
Great to hear! Thanks
Dang Wolf, this video is awesome!!! I know these narrations take a lot of time, but you did amazing and I hope you keep doing them. I can't wait to watch Icewind Dale!
Thanks Ryozan. I can’t wait to finish it 😂
This is the story (Adventure) that recent Dungeons and Dragons movie should have used for the movie.
Thank you! It seems as if BG3 went with a different ending though. Zariel appears to still be evil :-D
@@WolfheartFPS I actually dig the idea of going up against a fallen celestial being and/or possibly working with her. I think NWN 2 was the last game to really hook my imagination on the DnD front and they didn't delve much in to the Hells or Abyss.
I can't imagine how long a video like this takes to make... thank you for your entertaining but hard work!
thanks for listening
Finally prepping for the Descent of my group into Avernus next Friday. Thanks so much. Your narrative gives a sweeping perspective of the story. Can't wait.
Good Luck! Thanks
Truly appreciated this series, @WolfheartFPS. Looking forward to BGIII.
Appreciate you watching Bill!
Great video. I own the module in D&D Beyond and Fantasy Grounds, but it's awesome to hear it all streamlined like this. I can't imagine the amount of work it took to put this together. Great job Sir
Thank you Kathrak! It was fun trying to decide the path I want the story to go. They give you a lot of options in the source book.
You have a great gift for storytelling, and you know how to compliment it with images. I want to thank you for this story. I await surgery and listening to this helped ease the anxiety. Better than any book, movie or TV show Inread or watched this week. Thanks
Thank you very much for all 5 parts of this story. I truely enjoyed it. Stay safe and Gruß from Germany
Really appreciate you tuning in.
I made it to the end! Thanks for putting together such a long video!
Really appreciate that! More narrations to come.
@@WolfheartFPS
It is I who appreciate you! I plan on reading BG: DIA at some point, but you composed a well-narrated summary of it and saved me a lot of time in an entertaining way. Thanks again =)
I have been watching your videos for about 2 months I decided to subscribe as I really like your content
Welcome to the channel and thanks a lot
I listened to all of it. And before the final version of BG3 comes out, I’ll listen to it all again! Great job mate, thanks a lot for the upload.
Awesome to hear. Thanks!
This was super helpful. Great to get a quick story down before running the module. Thumbs up!
Thanks! Good luck on your adventure.
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed listening to your story. Now I really hope that Larian goes for a similar ending. Nonetheless, consider yourself added to my favorite list. I would love to see more of your uploads regarding Baldur's gate 3
Thank you so much for creating this. It helped me to understand the context of the beginning state of BG3!
Thanks for listening!
I watched the whole thing. Thanks for all the work you do in making these videos.

Very enjoyable story. You said it was a lot of work and I am glad you did it. Thanks for going for the full redemption for the angel.
I’m DM’ing this campaign right now, and was looking for something like this to help me plan future sessions. Thank you so much!
You’re welcome! Glad you found it helpful.
The fire and night sounds are so cool and relaxing ☺

Thanks much
I really agree with everyone saying that narrated modules would be a super neat series.
Well done.
This was amazing! Subscribing in hopes of more narrated campaigns
Thanks! I do have plans for doing more.
About to run this in a couple weeks and this was a great way to get into it, while reading the source material. Awesome job.
Thrilled you found your hat. Really enjoyed this series man thanks so much!
ha! Thanks for the support Bryan.
