Utterly incorrect. She messed with cosmic balance and paid the price for it. The Abyss cannot be destroyed; the Nine Hells are the bulwark against the flood of chaos and Zariel attacked them with disregard for the long game. If she had been more successful, her idiotic and suicidal charge into Avernus could have weakened Baator enough to allow demons a crucial advantage and imperiled entire planes. Zariel was short-sighted, reckless and haughty.
This is why the blood war is so... integral to dnd. It's everything that makes the cosmos complicated. Everything that makes morality and faith complicated.

Many generations ago, an ancestor of his branch made a deal with Zariel. He was not gifted in the art of war nor magic, and to keep relevancy within the clan sought out Zariel. He asked to grant the children of his blood her gift and touch, and in exchange all members of the Zariel-Almont name upon death shall join her armies on the frontlines of the blood war. Silas is very aware of his fate but it doesn’t bother him. All that has ever mattered was the family mission, to defend the material plane from the monsters that go bump in the night.
Can someone explain to me how she's a hero because to me she's the type of person Jameson from marvel would talk about being more bad than good and causing more trouble than fixing it and literally becoming the very thing she fought against
That’s the exact reason. To some, She is a Hero, doing everything she can to protect others. While realists look at her and see a person who, out of spite, raised an army of followers and charged into hell and ended up killing them all.
I imagine to the Angels it just looks like a bunch of evil stuff massacring each other, and they aren't aware of the potential repercussions of one side winning. Mordenkainen's tome kind of states that only he is really aware of how important it is that the war continues.
What's that Sinclair quote about it being difficult to get people to understand something when their salary depends on them not understanding it? Angels are like that.

I was hoping that the adventure would mainly take place in Baldurs Gate and the near area. Like dealing with factions within the city. Im a bit disappointed that it is mostly about other planes and stuff.

I mean, if the balance is needed between law and chaos, and the scales are even in the blood war, Zariel putting just enough pressure to aid the devils to ultimately lead to the Hells defeating the Abyss, but being weakened as a result, possibly enough to be wiped out themselves?
Basically all devils used to be angels, fighting the blood war made them the way they are. Zariel's flaw was not catching the tratior before the door was shut. Once it was closed - it was pretty much over for her. Like the 80 combat rule for soldiers - Zariel spent 81 days in hell. The devils do need help fighting the blood war & the celestialls should actually help them. But in a more supporting role - never getting too stuck in - intrenched or committed. Also many devils have reasons for not wanting to end the blood war - as to say: They are that far gone down there - but yes the abyss needs to be stopped. The devils would expect as much - so it wouldn't work.
Her flaw is her pride and arrogance not allowing her to see the bigger picture. She got involved with a conflict she was supposed to oversee from the sidelines, and in the process got countless mortal lives lost. She acheived virtually nothing through all her efforts, save for a loss of an angel, all of her mortal followers, and relatively new positions of power in the nine hells; the blood war still rages, though.
A great job with the adventures and the modules that they have been doing. But I have a question, is there any plan to bring something from "DarkSun" or some adventure with Psionics (mystics)? thanks
say what you will but when mearls did these, it felt less like they were making it up and more like they were reporting on it... "why did you pick zariel?" shouldn't be a viable question, fate chose her yada yada yada... :\

Zak S has since been removed from the credits of the PHB, but many feel it is too little too late. As a result, Mike Mearls isn't the company's best spokesperson right now. :-/

I don’t understand...at 3:15 he days when her army frays at the edges she falls. Why? A general who took time and care building their army turning to the other side when her beloved creation begins to suffer makes no sense. I get it, the idea of a “fallen angel” is awesome but the reason for falling doesn’t make sense and seams like it was done rushed. “We need a reason for a fallen angel”....oh I get it “her army begins to Frey” tell me that if I was your boss and I would give you a deer in the headlight look and probably laugh at you for coming at me with something half assed.
I really wish they’d stop mispronouncing Asmodeus’ name, along with Halaster’s. Was there some copyright infringement case I wasn’t aware of? It’s like nails on a chalkboard to my ears every time they say Asmode’-us or Hala’-ster. (Sry, don’t know how to do proper accent marks with an iPad)
In a setting where good and evil are essentially equal, and beings can fall or be redeemed by a good pep-talk, both good and evil become subjective and meaningless.
It's interesting they remade Zariel, she looks much different in Tome of Foes
