I have noticed that aside from some included weapon options and alternate heads none of the new miniatures allow much for conversions. While I appreciate the single pose for ease of assembly and push fit requires no glue I do like getting creative with my miniatures. You know, making them unique on the battle field.
@LysimedVenteel it's like with a lot of their specialist games. Inquisitor, Mordheim and Battlefleet Gothic no longer have miniatures or updated official rules or any support for that matter. I have a huge collection of Vampire Counts that I can't use in the Old World game because GW decided that they don't exist yet. Only Tomb Kings.
My favorite meme I have seen about the jump pack priest is a fake X/Twitter post from GW that says "In regards to Sanguinary Priests with Jump Packs, there have never been Sanguinary Priests with Jump Packs, since the IX Legion was formed."
They need to release all the codexes and then wait a year or two until the next edition. Nothing worse than being the last codex only for it to be null and void a week later because next edition gets released

It’s there current „if we don’t sell it, it doesn’t exist“ rule … which even includes model they still sell, but have limited stock (i.e. Kill Team Cassius). But it’s very likely that GW will make that model in the future and then give it op rules to sell (though it’s SM, so probably no op rules).
5:45- GW aren't keeping roadmaps secret to be "flexible" or "control hype cycle", it's because GW don't want people to "plan purchases". When you start giving long distance roadmaps people will stop suffering FOMO of existing things because they're okay with waiting, other people will simply stop buying whatever thing they might be doing to save money for the future. Way back in the day at least in Australia, GW used to do once a year "birthday sales" at each specific store (there weren't that many stores, about a handful in each state's biggest cities at most) but got rid of it because they didn't want people saving up for months and months at a time, then buying at the large discounts these sales had.

People finish projects and want to start something fresh and new, try different colours and painting styles. So many of us played things like dawn of war, and can have an appreciation for different fighting styles and army compositions.

It seems like a backpack swap would have been incredibly easy on this guy. Just... put another backpack in the kit and put whichever on him. The Jump Priests were always on the rogue side of official anyway, though, they didn't even have a model of their own, and while this could have been an opportunity for them to finally fill that need, they opted instead to cut the sheet. I get it, and I do like the new model, but this is a case where making people happy would have been incredibly easy and cost almost nothing.
Ok, this is one of my main issue with the Primaris range, the quiet nerfing of the factions. With the OG SP having the option allowing to have a jump pack allow a lot more range of movement. Or let take a main character for example Calgar when he had his old terminator min allowing him to deep strike not only allow a good amount of range of movement but with you put him with an Assault T squad could potentially make him a heavy hitter and a brick that can tank allot of damage.
Try looking at it from a business point of view rather than a table top gamer view. Will no doubt get a jump pack one but in a future edition. Its all about stimulating constant sale over the life span of a factio update before it all gets repeated.
GW has destroyed what made 40k great by dumbing down everything to turn the game into a TCG instead of a wargame, part of that is removing complexity of the models via customisation.
And I had JUST finished sacrificing a whole jump intercessor kit to make a jump captain and two jump priests. I'm kinda mad now. I'm gonna have to salvage these two models and make use of that overpriced box lmao.

At first I was hoping for a codex because Imperial Guard got our codex at the end of 9th. After seeing the quality of most of the codexes, I'm hoping we stay last again.
Wish they'd get the Aeldari one out sooner than later. One of the people in my crusade group is running Aeldari and I'd love for them to have more stuff to do.
I was more worried about the sanguinary priest not having a jump pack but tbh I think the foot marines get into the fight fast enough that it's not necessary. I definitely preferred the jump pack thematically but this isn't the end of the world. Though, I do hope the base is still the same size so people don't need to change the priests they already have. Easier to say "he doesn't actually have a jump pack" than "I needed to re-base him. And also he doesn't actually have a jump pack".

The Priest losing jump pack is yet another daily reminder that characters should never have lost the "wargear list" to just pick what you want, if you want a bike or a jump pack or whatever, and just kitbash one up.
His Tau novels are all a bit simple. I understand that it's not easy as he's being tasked to flesh out a whole civilization from scratch, but then again. Nate Crowley already managed to do so with both the Necrons and the Orks, truly getting into their psyche. It's not difficult to imagine a more harrowing, dystopic Tau novel.

Still hoping GW learnstheir lesson from9th and lets the edition rock for awhile once the final codex drops. Give it some time to be balanced with the full package out and make the editionmore leveled out(And particularly give the late codexes some time to actually play) instead of the poor guard and world eaters back in 9th being told they waited two years for maybe a couple months of play. And due to having all the daemonic units shoved into those books, there will be 0 new models for WE's/1kSons/DG.

Daemons joining the other chaos factions is nothing but a rumour and a speculation that's been going around for years at this point. They haven't hinted at it in the slightest as far as i'm aware. As a mono tzeentch daemons player and a TSons player I personally would welcome it provided I could play belakor and I got some actual tzeentch daemon detachment rules to play with in the TSons codex. However there are still so many downsides even for a player like me (the ideal target for that kind of change), let alone for people who enjoy undivided daemons. I just don't see them doing it.
I am just starting an Astra Militarum army. Fortunately I subscribe to Warhammer + so I don't waste money on the datacards. I'm still curious about when the new codex will be released. It would make sense to see it after the Agents of the Imperium codex.
Sadly the road map is a fake, there will be no more codex drops for the remaining armies as GW has decided it is no longer profitable to support their game (joke)

The priests carry the blood of Sanguinius in their veins. You could argue they're too valuable to send headlong into battle with a jump pack. I don't like it, but I can see it.
you're at GWs mercy regardless either way either you kitbash the options and hope GW writes rules that let you use them or they sell you a whole new kit unique to the options.
People already complain there are too many datasheets, the rules aren't balanced enough, and models sell out too fast. There are you reasons right there unfortunately.
I'd wouldn't be shocked if they revert on the jump pack option with the priest. They've done this before across like 2 editions then like 6 months later they give back priests with jump packs, for most blood angels players it's noting super new. GW always for some reason REALLY doesnt want priests with jump packs to exist
Still think the next codex after BA will be Votann. The fact that neither got any point changes in the dataslate made me think they were imminent, and I ended up being right about BA. (also the Votann novel seems really well timed) If the "leaked" roadmap had Votann after BA instead of TSons then I might have believed it.
I think there’s a good argument to be made that Votann are very mid right now, so they didn’t want to make any changes and just see what the new yaegirs did to the army win rates. But that’s just as must conjecture as your theory so who knows. Lord knows id love to have more Votann that soon.
If I actually still played 40k I'd be pissed about the Sanguinary Priests not getting jump packs. Since I only buy them to paint this only affects me by making it less likely I will play again.
Lord Felthius & Tainted Cohort is still in the webstore, listed as 'online only'... (at least on the Canadian store) He's currently what GW considers a LoC since the 8th ed big box one was on a shared sprue and thus, can't be packaged individually I'm honestly terrified over how GW is going to butcher the dedicated mono-God Legions going forwards... with the rumors of them dropping the Daemons codex and shoving the daemonic units into their relevant Legion books, what are GW also going to remove from the Legions themselves? Between no specific individual model, plus GW not wanting to have multiple 'shared datasheet' sources, I can easily see them removing just from the DG codex alone; Lord of Contagion (no model, no rules), Death Guard Lord on foot, Death Guard Lord in termie armour, Termie Sorc, Chaos Cultists (we have Poxwalkers - good enough probably in GW's mind!)... maybe even lose the Defiler since we at least have our own unique daemon engines? Oh, and of course, no new models for DG because we're getting 10+yr old Daemon sculpts added to our faction! >.
The thing that made me immediately suspicious about this fake codex roadmap was that it was the exact same layout as the last codex roadmap update shared by GW. This is of course not any direct evidence, but it was awfully convenient.
To be fair the main reason why we knew it was a fake roadmap is because a lot of people are thinking that 11th is coming next year, which is why so much news has dried up. But if I'm honest, we're also worried that a new edition could be too little too late for 40K. This game is a disaster right now. The FOMO model, the way -Power Level 2.0- points work, the free wargear making units only have a single viable loadout, the rampant stripping of rules, models and fun, the fact that _MOVEMENT IS STILL BROKEN._ I'm not even sure GW could deliver a good edition with the team they have right now. Unless this is a "New Coke" situation, so that this edition is supposed to be bad so that we can enjoy original Coke even more when it comes back. But then, I don't think that Coca-Cola intended to do that on purpose, either. I think it was just corporations trying to do their best to give us what they think we want.

Yup keep on dropping the easiest of balls because they are too stingy to do sprues bigger than their now "standard small character" sprue. These 2 recent BA characters (the captain and the priest) should both have had a jump pack as option on their sprues.
It makes sense for a Codex to release, when you get an updated model range. I doubt that Black Templars will get a Codex this season, since we got a range refresh in 9th edition, and the index paired with the Codex seems to be enough for the army. I guesd that anDrukhari Codex might be interesting, since many models aren't available for purchase anymore and although many models still look great, they are 10+ years old. I love them, but maybe the Kill Team Box was a small indicator. 🤷🏼♂️ I'm also interested on how the Agents of Imperium will end up being.
Marine players complaining they don't have another form of priest, meanwhile drukhari out here with 1 succubus and no leader for their jetbikes or hoverboard wyches. While also having 4 of their 24 datasheets out of print including a meta staple like beastpack, and one of them is only in a kill team combo box while being a meta 2-3 squad take.
GK is the only thing we know is scheduled for 2025. I'm guessing Q1/2 if there's not a lot of new plastic, 3/4 if there is. To that end, Thousand Sons could easily drop this year due to SM2 and them not needing to redo Rubrics until all of Chaos gets rescaled, or maybe never-- they could get away with very little plastic, maybe something from the game, maybe that robot from Pariah.

clearly fake roadmap, why have aeldari so late on but thousand sons get a new codex in autumn when their last one was only in 2023? why no drukhari when every other major codexless faction's covered? and, most importantly, where's the emperor's children codex that's been so heavily hinted at?
GW have since 8th ed, typically bundled 1-2 'solo/no model' codices alongside a 'big model wave' codex release. So if BA's are the 'big model wave' release for Fall 2024, then there's no way the likes of Eldar or Votann are also coming this Fall, since we know 100% both those factions are also on tap for a huge model wave release... Gut feeling says GW will drop the Dark Eldar codex around the same time as the Eldar codex, 'because Ynnari'... sadly, despite being the one faction most desperately in need of a top down, 100% range refresh, Dark Eldar probably get nothing again this edition. (...damn I feel sorry for DE players!) Emp's Children are heavily rumored to be the dead last codex of 10th, right after SW's get their big range refresh + return of Leman Russ. (...ala Lion 'el Jonson -> Angron + WE's releases in 9th)

Loss of taking a jump pack for the priest sucks, especially with all the other wargear going. Im fine with no more 10 fists and 10 inferno pistols, but without the extra ap and durability from the priest.... It's like they really want us to have to run dudes on foot in a transport. I don't like that style of gameplay
It's not GW, it's the competitive Tournament try-hards who hate options & fun... GW is just catering to them for the time being, similar to how they let the foaming at the mouth "Competitive" crowd ruin 5th & especially 7th editions

I will say that the game has been making efforts to become more competitive since the release of 2nd edition. And you don't have to play it a competitive way, you can use legends units, or old editions or use alternate rules you and your opponent agree to. In fact, we still have a huge 2nd and 3rd edition community. Me and my friends are willing to play anyway that sounds fair. I know at least Eric and I will play anyone any edition all the way back to 1st. There is still crusades, and so many other ways play. You don't have to let other players ruin your hobby, you just have to find those that enjoy playing the same way you do.

It’s there current „if we don’t sell it, it doesn’t exist“ rule … which even includes model they still sell, but have limited stock (i.e. Kill Team Cassius).
But it’s very likely that GW will make that model in the future and then give it op rules to sell (though it’s SM, so probably no op rules).
They don’t understand how their own game works. Same reason White Scars got a character with no bike.

5:45- GW aren't keeping roadmaps secret to be "flexible" or "control hype cycle", it's because GW don't want people to "plan purchases". When you start giving long distance roadmaps people will stop suffering FOMO of existing things because they're okay with waiting, other people will simply stop buying whatever thing they might be doing to save money for the future. Way back in the day at least in Australia, GW used to do once a year "birthday sales" at each specific store (there weren't that many stores, about a handful in each state's biggest cities at most) but got rid of it because they didn't want people saving up for months and months at a time, then buying at the large discounts these sales had.

If you knew 1 or 2 or 3 years down the track GW were going to a huge update of a faction you did want to buy, you might decide to stop buying stuff at that time, because you might have bought you didn't know anything else you wanted more was coming later.

It seems like a backpack swap would have been incredibly easy on this guy. Just... put another backpack in the kit and put whichever on him. The Jump Priests were always on the rogue side of official anyway, though, they didn't even have a model of their own, and while this could have been an opportunity for them to finally fill that need, they opted instead to cut the sheet. I get it, and I do like the new model, but this is a case where making people happy would have been incredibly easy and cost almost nothing.
But with Heresy the despoiler weapons should be out by now. They had a roadmap. We are well onto the Mechanicum and an update for them.

Ok, this is one of my main issue with the Primaris range, the quiet nerfing of the factions. With the OG SP having the option allowing to have a jump pack allow a lot more range of movement. Or let take a main character for example Calgar when he had his old terminator min allowing him to deep strike not only allow a good amount of range of movement but with you put him with an Assault T squad could potentially make him a heavy hitter and a brick that can tank allot of damage.
Try looking at it from a business point of view rather than a table top gamer view. Will no doubt get a jump pack one but in a future edition. Its all about stimulating constant sale over the life span of a factio update before it all gets repeated.

At first I was hoping for a codex because Imperial Guard got our codex at the end of 9th. After seeing the quality of most of the codexes, I'm hoping we stay last again.
Maybe GW will fire Team B and put more resources in Team A？then the quality will be confirmed🤔
Wish they'd get the Aeldari one out sooner than later. One of the people in my crusade group is running Aeldari and I'd love for them to have more stuff to do.
I was more worried about the sanguinary priest not having a jump pack but tbh I think the foot marines get into the fight fast enough that it's not necessary. I definitely preferred the jump pack thematically but this isn't the end of the world. Though, I do hope the base is still the same size so people don't need to change the priests they already have. Easier to say "he doesn't actually have a jump pack" than "I needed to re-base him. And also he doesn't actually have a jump pack".

The Priest losing jump pack is yet another daily reminder that characters should never have lost the "wargear list" to just pick what you want, if you want a bike or a jump pack or whatever, and just kitbash one up.

His Tau novels are all a bit simple. I understand that it's not easy as he's being tasked to flesh out a whole civilization from scratch, but then again. Nate Crowley already managed to do so with both the Necrons and the Orks, truly getting into their psyche. It's not difficult to imagine a more harrowing, dystopic Tau novel.

And due to having all the daemonic units shoved into those books, there will be 0 new models for WE's/1kSons/DG.
@@drunkenastarte5243 I really don't think they're going to do that though for a lot of reasons. Daemons joining the other chaos factions is nothing but a rumour and a speculation that's been going around for years at this point. They haven't hinted at it in the slightest as far as i'm aware.
As a mono tzeentch daemons player and a TSons player I personally would welcome it provided I could play belakor and I got some actual tzeentch daemon detachment rules to play with in the TSons codex. However there are still so many downsides even for a player like me (the ideal target for that kind of change), let alone for people who enjoy undivided daemons. I just don't see them doing it.

The priests carry the blood of Sanguinius in their veins. You could argue they're too valuable to send headlong into battle with a jump pack. I don't like it, but I can see it.

There is NO LOGICAL REASON for any space marine character not to have a jump pack / bike option and it's just bloody annoying (no pun intended).
you're at GWs mercy regardless either way either you kitbash the options and hope GW writes rules that let you use them or they sell you a whole new kit unique to the options.
People already complain there are too many datasheets, the rules aren't balanced enough, and models sell out too fast. There are you reasons right there unfortunately.
I'd wouldn't be shocked if they revert on the jump pack option with the priest. They've done this before across like 2 editions then like 6 months later they give back priests with jump packs, for most blood angels players it's noting super new. GW always for some reason REALLY doesnt want priests with jump packs to exist

Still think the next codex after BA will be Votann. The fact that neither got any point changes in the dataslate made me think they were imminent, and I ended up being right about BA. (also the Votann novel seems really well timed)
If the "leaked" roadmap had Votann after BA instead of TSons then I might have believed it.
I think there’s a good argument to be made that Votann are very mid right now, so they didn’t want to make any changes and just see what the new yaegirs did to the army win rates.
But that’s just as must conjecture as your theory so who knows. Lord knows id love to have more Votann that soon.
If I actually still played 40k I'd be pissed about the Sanguinary Priests not getting jump packs. Since I only buy them to paint this only affects me by making it less likely I will play again.

I'm honestly terrified over how GW is going to butcher the dedicated mono-God Legions going forwards... with the rumors of them dropping the Daemons codex and shoving the daemonic units into their relevant Legion books, what are GW also going to remove from the Legions themselves?
Between no specific individual model, plus GW not wanting to have multiple 'shared datasheet' sources, I can easily see them removing just from the DG codex alone; Lord of Contagion (no model, no rules), Death Guard Lord on foot, Death Guard Lord in termie armour, Termie Sorc, Chaos Cultists (we have Poxwalkers - good enough probably in GW's mind!)... maybe even lose the Defiler since we at least have our own unique daemon engines?
Oh, and of course, no new models for DG because we're getting 10+yr old Daemon sculpts added to our faction! >.

The thing that made me immediately suspicious about this fake codex roadmap was that it was the exact same layout as the last codex roadmap update shared by GW. This is of course not any direct evidence, but it was awfully convenient.
I am still holding my hopes up high for LoV this year, after they will be featured in the next white dwarf and the lifesigns of their first novel.

To be fair the main reason why we knew it was a fake roadmap is because a lot of people are thinking that 11th is coming next year, which is why so much news has dried up.
But if I'm honest, we're also worried that a new edition could be too little too late for 40K. This game is a disaster right now. The FOMO model, the way -Power Level 2.0- points work, the free wargear making units only have a single viable loadout, the rampant stripping of rules, models and fun, the fact that _MOVEMENT IS STILL BROKEN._
I'm not even sure GW could deliver a good edition with the team they have right now. Unless this is a "New Coke" situation, so that this edition is supposed to be bad so that we can enjoy original Coke even more when it comes back. But then, I don't think that Coca-Cola intended to do that on purpose, either. I think it was just corporations trying to do their best to give us what they think we want.

Yup keep on dropping the easiest of balls because they are too stingy to do sprues bigger than their now "standard small character" sprue.
These 2 recent BA characters (the captain and the priest) should both have had a jump pack as option on their sprues.
It makes sense for a Codex to release, when you get an updated model range.
I doubt that Black Templars will get a Codex this season, since we got a range refresh in 9th edition, and the index paired with the Codex seems to be enough for the army.
I guesd that anDrukhari Codex might be interesting, since many models aren't available for purchase anymore and although many models still look great, they are 10+ years old. I love them, but maybe the Kill Team Box was a small indicator. 🤷🏼♂️

I think Grey Knights and Thousand Sons (that could be an hand to hand release) will be released during chrismas/new year.
GK is the only thing we know is scheduled for 2025. I'm guessing Q1/2 if there's not a lot of new plastic, 3/4 if there is. To that end, Thousand Sons could easily drop this year due to SM2 and them not needing to redo Rubrics until all of Chaos gets rescaled, or maybe never-- they could get away with very little plastic, maybe something from the game, maybe that robot from Pariah.
@@nonamenoname1133 I guess the rescaled rubric will not be a thing this edition and even the next, because even in SM2 they are "bricky", I guess the complete rescale of Grey Knights comes first and could be Announced in Christmas 2024 and released in Q1 2025.

clearly fake roadmap, why have aeldari so late on but thousand sons get a new codex in autumn when their last one was only in 2023? why no drukhari when every other major codexless faction's covered? and, most importantly, where's the emperor's children codex that's been so heavily hinted at?
GW have since 8th ed, typically bundled 1-2 'solo/no model' codices alongside a 'big model wave' codex release.
So if BA's are the 'big model wave' release for Fall 2024, then there's no way the likes of Eldar or Votann are also coming this Fall, since we know 100% both those factions are also on tap for a huge model wave release...
Gut feeling says GW will drop the Dark Eldar codex around the same time as the Eldar codex, 'because Ynnari'... sadly, despite being the one faction most desperately in need of a top down, 100% range refresh, Dark Eldar probably get nothing again this edition. (...damn I feel sorry for DE players!)
Emp's Children are heavily rumored to be the dead last codex of 10th, right after SW's get their big range refresh + return of Leman Russ. (...ala Lion 'el Jonson -> Angron + WE's releases in 9th)

It's not GW, it's the competitive Tournament try-hards who hate options & fun... GW is just catering to them for the time being, similar to how they let the foaming at the mouth "Competitive" crowd ruin 5th & especially 7th editions
@@drunkenastarte5243 thing is, I've played both hobby style and competitive for years. Mostly hobby side.
I will say that the game has been making efforts to become more competitive since the release of 2nd edition.
And you don't have to play it a competitive way, you can use legends units, or old editions or use alternate rules you and your opponent agree to.
In fact, we still have a huge 2nd and 3rd edition community.
Me and my friends are willing to play anyway that sounds fair. I know at least Eric and I will play anyone any edition all the way back to 1st.
There is still crusades, and so many other ways play.
You don't have to let other players ruin your hobby, you just have to find those that enjoy playing the same way you do.

I mean, in the context of my comment, impulsors make more sense as gladiators don't have transport capabilities.
Either that, or you are like me and don't glue the top on your gladiator, so you can run them either way.
