Oh my, I remember taking the streetcar 🚎 with my grandma ❤️ to go to Juarez. We would visit family and I got to see my cousins, and eat at my aunt’s. My dear aunt- - she always had food ready in case any family dropped by to visit. Such fond memories from long ago will never be forgotten. I get nostalgic for a simpler way of life back then.

I grew up taking street cars from El paso to Juarez and back. It brought back good old memories of more naive times.

Hi I, Thanks for watching and for your comment. Wish I had video with sound, but these are pictures scanned from slides taken in the early 1970s. At that time, I believe the only option was 8mm or 16mm with sound and that was beyond me back then. Stay well. Cheers, tassiebaz.

I heard about this line from a co-worker and he must have been confused because he said he rode it in 1983 so it was the 1970's when it finally ended. Thanks for the update!
Hi Magnus, Thanks for your comment. The line quit in 1974, but is being reborn with 6 original reconditioned streetcars as I write this, but it will not run on the Mexican side. Regards, tassiebaz.

Question: Does the new trolley route in El Paso reuse any of the old route? Thx.

(See www.tramz.com for a great description and history of the old line.) They both ran on Stanton Street, but different parts of that street and, I believe, in different directions. After destroying most trolley systems in the middle of last century in favor of roads and automobiles, it is now trendy to have a trolley line, so they are being put back in one form or another in many cities that used to have them.
