I have a 2018 Off-Road DCSB manual, and I think the features the Pro adds don't really add up to the price versus benefit. The Off-Road gives you everything you need to be able to get out of some sticky situations (and then some) and everything the Pro brings to the table is just bells and whistles on top of that. I mean it's an inch taller, has some nicer wheels and nicer shocks. More or less everything past that is cosmetic or marginally better. Not knocking anyone debating getting a Pro, but if getting an Off-Road is already going to stretch your wallet to the breaking point, don't lose a wink of sleep over not getting a Pro.
I like the body on the trd pro more and the extra features is also a plus. 9k more than the off road, I know that’s a lot but I’m still going with the pro.

The PRO is way overpriced. I bought the OR, then added the TRD Pro suspension and grill. That grill just looks better imo. The Fox shocks and TRD springs are a good upgrade, and cheap if you buy them off a guy that pulled them off his PRO. Not paying 46K for a TRD Pro, nope.

I truly appreciate the presentation, Jeff. It is the right combination of informative and entertaining, but without the hard sell. It would be interesting to know the level of difficulty it would be to order a Tacoma with specific specs from the factory with the 2020 offerings. As it stands now, if I had to pull the trigger today, I would definitely go for the TRD Off-Road (less sticker shock), but with the Premium package that brings in the leather seating, sunroof, and dual climate control. I had considered the TRD Sport, but I would rather have the enhanced off-road capabilities than the non-functional hood scoop (basically fake boobs for a Tacoma). ;-) Looking forward to future content from your channel. LOOK UP TACOMA FRAME RUST------ These Toyota trucks have long Historys of weak frames...My buddys 2020 was rear-ended in a 5 mph impact and it bent the frame. Then theres the Tacomas literally breaking in Half.....from rust
The shocks alone on the TRD Pro made a huge difference...test drove both the Offroad and the Pro. The Offroad bilsteins were too stiff. I felt the Pro was more bang for the buck. JBL which sounds decent, moonroof, TRD skid plate, fox shocks, LED lights, catback exhaust which sounds gnarly when you gun it, leather seats. I was being offered a TRD Offroad for $40,000 and they wouldnt budge since they added Pro wheels. I picked up the Pro for $42,500. If you have the wiggle room go with the Pro. I love driving it every day.

Off road verse. The $10k you save will buy everything else you need to venture into places like the Maze, and get out safely. You give away nothing in off-road worthiness, and, unless you are lucky enough to find a dealer with one in stock, you don’t have to wait 6 months for delivery. I have a 2017 OffRoad edition that I purchased new, 2 years ago. It has received several workouts, and I have zero complaints. Love my taco!
Eh, there's a lot more difference than that. The seats are nicer, and it has JBL sound and the moon roof is standard. The moon roof is an extra $3500 on the off-road. After you calculate it all, the difference isn't all that big.

bradymiguel Long bed is a little more difficult on approach and exit from what I’ve learned. So on a tight hill you may scrape or get stuck. I’m going back and forth on the 5 or 6’

The TRD Pro is really nice but here in Canada, it's almost 14k more than the off-road. That's just stupid. The off-road is the better buy. Has pretty much all the capability of the Pro.
Just bought a 2019 ZR2 and I gotta say this is a nice truck. No hating from a Chevy guy. Nice they offer all the bells and whistles. Chevy needs to step it up with the safety features.
I would rather get the Pro for all the features and that Voodu blue. The off road is more of a strip down Pro. If I was to plan on lifting and put bigger wheels on the truck I'll go with the off road. At the end of the day you get what's best out there and not admiring another truck lol.

Zyphon 433565 hard to make a bad choice. I did not like the visibility with the scoop. I do not like the color coded bumpers on the pro but a small thing and personal preference. I also did not want the subwoofer on the pro’s stereo as that takes away from back seat (under) storage. I will say I actually use the 4wd capabilities on mine - as we own a horse farm on a river. I am greatly impressed. The 2020 models will offer Apple Car Play as well as adjustable driver seats though those are not important to me. Good luck.
HAD a 2017 TRD Pro, weak ass truck, shitty factory paint job that’s cracking under the clear coat and Toyota gave me the run around. After 20K miles and getting dusted by everyone and their mother either on the beach or street, enough was enough. Phenomenal trade in value, but the BMW X3 M40i beats this Taco in all aspects.
Think I will wait for the 2020 Tacoma refresh, where they make some minor upgrades including using same modular base as Tundra and upgrade the 'infotainment' system. Though as long as the price doesn't jump up too much with that, then leaning towards Pro.
The TRD Pro was a massive waste of money. I had one for a few months and wound up losing $11K trading it back. Not enough luxury for the “top of the line” model. The seats should be electronically adjustable, which they aren’t, and what’s so great about JBL stereo? Pretty, but not too useful, like most of my ex-girlfriends.

Why doesn’t Toyota just make the TRD Pro Grill standard on all models expect for the 4cylinders. It’s just another pain that I have to do every time I turn in my lease. Put on take off.
TRD Offroad Premium and do my own tires, suspension, and roof rack. It comes out costing less than a TRD Pro and I get to pick the three accessories I would have most likely changed out on the Pro anyway.
Both are great and both have their arguments for one over the other. The way I see it, the Off-Road is great if someone wants to do a little modding and really take it rock climbing. The Pro is great if you want something out the door at the dealer the way it is. A set of aggressive off road tires on the Pro and there's not many places that thing won't take you and you'll still have the factory warranty.
The Pro’s shocks are too soft for driving at highway speeds. That’s the trade off! The Off Road is better for people who need to use the truck for commuting along with off roading. If you have the cash and don’t plan to use the truck for a load long distance highway travel, then get the Pro.

I pick the zr2 Chevy. At least it comes with decent tires unlike the totally worthless ones on the Tacoma pro.it also comes with front and rear lockers which Toyota tacoma don't and its cheaper.i have the jeep Rubicon now and I am tired of dragging the Toyota's out of the back woods boys with want to be off roaders. I am buying a new zr2 and putting a lift and 35 tires on it to get rid of it's only downfall clearance.

It was a 93.i looked at the new ones the tires was totally worthless off road it road like a lumber wagon and still had drum brakes on the rear no front and rear lockers and wanted way more money for Toyota's have had alot of recalls in the past few years. I have owned 6 jeeps since 1977 and still have 4 of them.my grand Cherokee 2004 has over 400 thousand miles on it now still original motor transmission and rear end.my willys no telling how many miles on it 1947.my cj 7 had 250 thousand before I mad a mud buggy out of it. And my jeep wrangler Rubicon with 40 tires 456 gears Dana 60 axels front and rear lockers and a hemi engine in it. The jeep wrangler Rubicon had over 300 thousand on it before I modified it.

TRD off road manual, 5k less and a extra 2k less for being a manual and better for off road, then customize it to make better than the pro model.
No. Fake. Hood. Scoop. So Offroad I should think. The Poser-mobile does look smoking hot tho (except for the poop scoop) and it'll have excellent resale. Still, I won't be selling it. I'll be driving it into the dirt for the next 20 years.

The pro if you can find one at a good price like I did muahaha lol. The off road is still good but seems like my grandpa would drive it. The pro shouldn’t cost as much as what people are paying for.
I love the trucks, especially the black one, but just can’t understand why Toyota doesn’t give America their V8 diesel. In australia we get the land cruiser with the stonking V8 under the bonnet.
Why doesn’t Toyota just make the TRD Pro Grill standard on all models expect for the 4cylinders. It’s just another pain that I have to do every time I turn in my lease. Put on take off.
TRD Offroad Premium and do my own tires, suspension, and roof rack. It comes out costing less than a TRD Pro and I get to pick the three accessories I would have most likely changed out on the Pro anyway.
I've heard pretty nasty opinions about the field of view over the hood. Does anyone else have this issue?
Both are great and both have their arguments for one over the other. The way I see it, the Off-Road is great if someone wants to do a little modding and really take it rock climbing. The Pro is great if you want something out the door at the dealer the way it is. A set of aggressive off road tires on the Pro and there's not many places that thing won't take you and you'll still have the factory warranty.

Most dealerships will mark up TRD Pro models a few thousand dollars, some may sell for MSRP
We don’t mark it up over sticker but it
will sell for either full MSRP or maybe $1000 less if absolutely necessary

The Pro’s shocks are too soft for driving at highway speeds. That’s the trade off! The Off Road is better for people who need to use the truck for commuting along with off roading. If you have the cash and don’t plan to use the truck for a load long distance highway travel, then get the Pro.

No longbed on the pro was the deal breaker for me I didn’t want that chode bed so I picked up the off road with the long bed

I pick the zr2 Chevy. At least it comes with decent tires unlike the totally worthless ones on the Tacoma pro.it also comes with front and rear lockers which Toyota tacoma don't and its cheaper.i have the jeep Rubicon now and I am tired of dragging the Toyota's out of the back woods boys with want to be off roaders. I am buying a new zr2 and putting a lift and 35 tires on it to get rid of it's only downfall clearance.

@@TheDeerhunter42 no I had a Toyota pickup before it lasted 10 years the frame rusted into and broke in half which was pretty common with them up north. It was a 93.i looked at the new ones the tires was totally worthless off road it road like a lumber wagon and still had drum brakes on the rear no front and rear lockers and wanted way more money for Toyota's have had alot of recalls in the past few years. I have owned 6 jeeps since 1977 and still have 4 of them.my grand Cherokee 2004 has over 400 thousand miles on it now still original motor transmission and rear end.my willys no telling how many miles on it 1947.my cj 7 had 250 thousand before I mad a mud buggy out of it. And my jeep wrangler Rubicon with 40 tires 456 gears Dana 60 axels front and rear lockers and a hemi engine in it. The jeep wrangler Rubicon had over 300 thousand on it before I modified it.
