slop_core remember when computers were fun? when we did things because they were cool and not just usefulness? installing cool themes, wobbly windows, desktop gadgets, cool screensavers, and stuff like bonzibuddy...
@@eden2980Too bad, this is Linux, you get 8 alternatives that are not quite the same and maybe 1 promising project that will be abandoned at the end of the year. Don't like it, make your own in your own time. Go FOSS! Year of the Linux desktop soon for three decades and counting.
I remember many years ago, ive tried different shells and once i've tried "3D Sphere" (i think it was for XP, but dont remember the name) for few days... i believe it was more usable than this, but not that fun with throwing icons around....
wow i forgot about this program... i wonder if google wanted it for stuff like a android homepage/launcher then never used it be great for tablets if it was updated
This is the prototype to a 3D VR desktop environment that is an actual desktop you virtually sit at and peruse your documents through a filing cabinet (because it's a document holder). You could have a picture frame that allows you to quickly search through your images for albums and related objects. Boom box for music, TV for videos, a small laptop for your browser (and for irony), the list goes on. Like, make it an actual desk. Why do you have to overcomplicate things with stuff like this box ... Thing?
haha I used to have bumptop on a usb drive, and I would bring it around in middle school. Would blow people's minds. fun nostalgia trip thanks
Yeah, that's another "The design is very human" project
KDE Plasma's The Cube in the world of Windows, but actually even worse
the cube is pretty useless tbh, its just for showing off

@@MorganEdgy bro, have you ever heard of linux ricing?
@@MorganEdgy what do you even mean?
God I miss BumpTop. It used to even work on Macs.
I'm still salty Google bought it and then did NOTHING with it.
At least they didn't buy it and immediately kill it so no one could use it again
I miss THAT TOO
I have been using bumptop for a week now and it's cool
Might as well add it to the google graveyard
@@de_nstream what now? it’s not google owned I think
Omg i remember that software. I use it in windows xp just before windows 7 release 😊

First thing that come my mind when I saw the thumbnail: Bumbtop runs on Windows 11? 😮
*Windows 3D Mirrors*
Google utilized the bumptop technology for android, as far as I remember. Probably for homescreen.

The MacOS version prob won’t work on the new Silicon Macs since they don’t support 32 bit programs.
I used to think this is really cool
This is my childhood

Sad that bumptop is not being developed anymore
I want to seee the macOS version
I "used" this on MacOS in 2008 for about 30 minutes before realizing how useless it was. Congratulations on making it to 2 minutes in 2024!
I had similar to this app back in 2009
