These re-skinned Windows editions bring back memories. I remember back in the day when Vista came out, I've installed a Vista re-skin on my PC with Windows XP x64 Edition. So it would look like Vista but still be XP. Had it for a long time, until Windows 7 came out. I actually used to make kind-of bootlegs myself, Windows 7 installations with all updates to date and a bunch of software (Office stuff, archivers, media players, etc.) pre-installed. No re-skins or anything, just software. Later did that with Windows 10. When Microsoft switched to using WIMs for installation (since Vista), it became incredibly easy to make custom Windows builds. All you had to do is install what you want on top of a clean OS, run sysprep and create a WIM image of the disk, which you would then copy to a Windows DVD image, replacing the stock install.wim.
I did actually play Mario Forever back in 2008, probably downloaded from a shovelware game website. It's essentially an (unauthorized and uncredited) clone of the Super Mario All-Stars version of SMB, but also using music from Super Mario World in some levels.

Hiren's was and still is nice to have, (depending on timeline) (Norton) Partition Magic/Acronis Disk Director, Norton Ghost/Acronis True Image and later Kaspersky's own "AV bootdisk". Shame that all these bootlegs seem to go "form over function" for the most part. Like they were put together by 14 year olds :P
"Gold XP Windows" isn't bad engrish, it's just a byproduct of the author of the bootleg, who appears to be Arabic. English uses Subject, Verb, Object ordering in grammar, but Arabic uses Verb, Subject, Object. The lack of plurality (Window vs Windows) is another thing, plurality in words isn't common in many languages. English speakers would say Windows XP Gold. Arabic speakers would say Gold XP Windows. Getting the sentence structure correct when learning different languages is hard. English is the rare exception where you can butcher and mutilate it to hell and it still mostly makes sense. That doesn't often work when going to different languages, where it can end up as utter nonsense or you saying something completely different by juxtapositioning words. It doesn't excuse the awfulness of the bootleg though.

That Gold XP start menu looks exactly like some hack thing I had in Windows 3.11 meant to give a Windows 95-like experience before Windows 95 was released. Of course no memory of what it was called. It's only been almost 30 years.
OMG unattended Windows installs now that brings back memories. I worked in a huge school and we had loads of different brand PCs and until I arrived no one had ever imaged them. I got around this to start with by setting up my own XP install. I used a DVD and had the unattended install Windows (obvs) Adobe Creative Suite Master Office 2003 All the little utils you'd need like Shockwave, Flash, Quicktime, Java etc Managed to fill a DVD-R it took awhile to do an install but it was a lot easier than manually installing and faster too as you could wander off and fix something else.

I'll be honest, after installing all those bootleg Windows discs, I'd take a month or so off and sanitize (DOD-wipe) that drive at the highest setting a few times. Who knows what malware had been installed during those setups.

These re-skinned Windows editions bring back memories. I remember back in the day when Vista came out, I've installed a Vista re-skin on my PC with Windows XP x64 Edition. So it would look like Vista but still be XP. Had it for a long time, until Windows 7 came out.
I actually used to make kind-of bootlegs myself, Windows 7 installations with all updates to date and a bunch of software (Office stuff, archivers, media players, etc.) pre-installed. No re-skins or anything, just software. Later did that with Windows 10.
When Microsoft switched to using WIMs for installation (since Vista), it became incredibly easy to make custom Windows builds. All you had to do is install what you want on top of a clean OS, run sysprep and create a WIM image of the disk, which you would then copy to a Windows DVD image, replacing the stock install.wim.
I did actually play Mario Forever back in 2008, probably downloaded from a shovelware game website. It's essentially an (unauthorized and uncredited) clone of the Super Mario All-Stars version of SMB, but also using music from Super Mario World in some levels.

You should check out Vietnamese Windows bootlegs at some point too. They are quite "high quality (?)".
For the past couple months I’ve been on a quest to recover some old versions of utility software and for all their faults some of these weird Windows distros are some of the only place the installers / serials exist.
Goofy as they may be, they have some value to me and gives us a fun little time capsule to explore.

"Gold XP Windows" isn't bad engrish, it's just a byproduct of the author of the bootleg, who appears to be Arabic. English uses Subject, Verb, Object ordering in grammar, but Arabic uses Verb, Subject, Object. The lack of plurality (Window vs Windows) is another thing, plurality in words isn't common in many languages.
English speakers would say Windows XP Gold. Arabic speakers would say Gold XP Windows.
Getting the sentence structure correct when learning different languages is hard. English is the rare exception where you can butcher and mutilate it to hell and it still mostly makes sense. That doesn't often work when going to different languages, where it can end up as utter nonsense or you saying something completely different by juxtapositioning words.
It doesn't excuse the awfulness of the bootleg though.

Really made the PC feel fresh even though it probably really slowed it down because IIRC it had a single core Athlon 64 and some horrible low end ATI GPU that I had to buy because the original GPU blew up

- Typos and incorrect grammar
- Stretched images
- Random theme elements that have nothing to do with each other
- Awful color schemes
- Inconsistent languages
- Fonts straight out of a middle-school PowerPoint presentation
- Bloatware that serves no real purpose
- Stupid version names, of course
Let's not even mention the fact that the user name and/or registration is the creator's name instead of being left blank.

actually I'm Arab and Gold XP windows wasn't even Arabic lol , they use the same Arabic letters in Pakistan but a whole different language jus like all of Europe use the same letters , with that being said the 2nd windows "GENIUS" is Arabic and from the creator name's I suppose he is Egyptian (and yes Egyptians are Arabs cuz I'm an one)
