Is it a bike you feel can ride reliability on dirt or pavement without breaking down??
I dont have alot money and a $750 2000 kawasaki super sherpa 4k miles , sat long time came up for sale in denver. If its worth fixing I'm guessing could rebuild carb, tires, clean out lines, + misc stuff be another $750 , i could have a decent casual dual sport bike $1500 . The cheapest newer bikes could find is 2019 yamaha xt250 $3k , 2007 xt225 $2k

I think his could benefit from some re-jetting too, seems like his battery doesn't have enough cold cranking amps either

Just got mine running pretty good stock main jet 127.5 and a 20 pilot jet, so far runs like a top better cold starts my choke circut was completely blocked and dont forget the cap that goes on the inlet for the choke circuit

Big question. Since you have experience with older bikes whst is the best older bike to get for practical use and tinkering between the, sp250, xl250r, tw200, or klr250 supetsherpa? I am also looking at the xt225 but I don't know if you have any experience with that model. It's my first time dealing with carbs but I am relatively handy and want to get more into tinkering.

Those you listed are all good, been around long time to have parts available. Personally the yamaha xt 225 or 250, tw200 will be better. But also price be a factor. People are going crazy thinking a 20yr old bike is $3-4k. In my area colorado a 2007 xt225 is $2k, 2019 xt250 $3k, 2004 tw200 $3k. 2019 Kawasaki klx 250 $3.5k, 2000 Kawasaki super sherpa that needs work $750. Newer Fuel injection bikes like the xt250, klx 250 are nice if you are at a high altitude .
