  • In this video, I show how to use the Global password protection to set up mix permissions. You can do this on all each band members device.
    Steps:
    1. Access Settings Cog
    2. Choose "Access"
    3. Set a Global Password
    4. Choose Global Access Parameters.
    5. Users of each device will now be able to still choose which auxes they control. You do not control this choice as it is not a feature of the mixer. So as long as your band members can handle that part, it works great.
    That's it! This should be saved in the show the next time you open it!.

    How do you set this up so others cant change or add the aux ports when connected, on mine main device i set the client access, and then on the music device they can still add all the aux channels? what am i missing

    Hi Ben, thanks so much for these videos. To your knowledge, is there a limit to how many devices can be simultaneously connected to the Ui24r for the purposes of controlling Aux mixes? Apologies if you’ve answered this elsewhere.

      Hi Jason, you can have up to ten devices connected simultaneously.

    Great video Ben thank you, but trying to set it up myself and I am utterly confused, I have set it to Aux Levels - Aux 1 only, then logged out, when I log back in I can still adjust absolutely everything on the faders, all Auxes, main mix etc. Any ideas what I could be missing ?
    Also the “Access Control” is not restriction of access, but you instead have to set the user access physically and voluntarily within each device, so it’s a bit intrusive, snooping through someone’s phone and pointless, nothing to stop the bassist changing his own access settings and ruining your main mix coz you had a falling out.

      Yes, I would say I don't think the syst works great for what you are saying. I don't use it personally. It's better for keeping other people from accessing than using it this way.

      I think on your phone you will want to still choose tablet on the main screen. The phone view I'm not too familiar with honestly but I think there are some limitations. Maybe someone who mixes on their phone more can chime in here.

    Nice video and it looks like it works but that isn't the correct way to do it. On the mix-record-connect YT pages, Danny (the UI inventor) has a video showing it done correctly. Also, on the officlal UI24 Facebook group, there is a PDF document in the FILES section showing how to do it. (there is also one in the UI16 group too).

    How do I get the Fx coming through to the monitors? I can’t seem to figure it out.

    • @EaslerMedia
      @EaslerMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      You will simply need to send that effect send to the monitor mix you are on. Since the channel is sent to the fx bus and the fx are not inserted on the channel, if you do not do this, you will not have effects in your monitor. Be careful with adding effects to your monitors if they are not in ears as you can generate feedback loops and cause additional phase issues. See my video at the 2:35 mark if this is still unclear th-cam.com/video/0LXShbU1o24/w-d-xo.html

    • @EaslerMedia
      @EaslerMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@perbotn I've updated the description to be a bit more clear. I realized I glossed over some of the details. Once you log in on the main device, the users are going to have control of choosing which aux(es) they can control still. You choose which parameters they can control within those auxes. Does that make sense? the easiest way to see this is to try yourself. This works even with the demo mixer on Soundcraft's site. Just open multiple windows to see how multiple devices would behave. Even on the demo, all of your windows will act as if they are controlling the same mixer. Pretty cool!

    Ben, I appreciate the video. However, I have some questions if you can help. Your video is showing the view from one of the remote devices like a tablet that one of the band musicians will be using to adjust their own monitor mix? I assume so. So, therefore the first step is getting their tablet connected. I assume that they create their own unique password and that the tablet is identified at the mixer and the view is saved in the tablet next time they log in? Please explain this. Also, prior to having band musicians connect for their monitor mixes I would like to better understand how you would set up the main control as the Sound Engineer view. I am setting up five musicians with android tablets to adjust their own monitor mixes. last time we tried to connect each tablet there were issues. We first went to settings on the tablet, found the soundcraft network, tried to connect, we were asked for a password, used the main mixer password. Error. Went to browser and typed in ui.mixer.io, error. I need all the little steps. Someone else told me to just use the browser on each tablet and type in ui.io. Can you help?

    • @EaslerMedia
      @EaslerMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark, I honestly have used this permissions feature very little and am a little rusty. Danny Olesh also has a video on this you might want to check out as he designed the mixer. First, from memory, I believe that the restrictions are based per person and must be set on each device, yes. If you have a group of people that understands how to navigate to their own monitor mix and just trust them not to mess the main mix, this is a little less cumbersome. In terms of connection, the way you describe is correct with the default router and ui.mixer.io. However, you can use the ip of the device instead and I would highly recommend getting a separate better quality router and using that instead of the built in one. There are some videos on how to do this. You have to learn some networking basics but it makes this much much easier. I think it is also possible to set up each device with its own ip so that users can't mess with each other's but again, it depends how complex you want to get with networking. Personally, I would recommend getting a better router as the built in one may be causing the issues you are having with connecting a bunch of devices (though you should be able to unless you changed the password) and just training the musicians to navigate to their aux page.

      @@EaslerMedia Ben, thanks again for your excellent videos and willingness to help fellow Audio Engineers and bands. Danny has a decent video as you mention, and I have used the online UI24 demo. With Danny's videos he is assuming people are at a certain experience level and he has limited time, understand and he is appreciated much. However I want the details. With many videos it's reading between the lines and logical conclusions/ assumptions that need to be made. Best Regards!

    So, I would need to go into each performers mobile device and set permissions for their specific aux?

    • @EaslerMedia
      @EaslerMedia  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it isn't a great system. Good training would be preferable. I think it may be possible if you deep dive to make a set of permissions specific to an IP address and have each performer access the mixer through a unique IP but I'm not 100% on that and haven't messed with this feature for a pretty long time. I remember when I made this video thinking that the process had some issues.

      @@EaslerMedia I used it for the first time "Live" this past Saturday for a performance and it worked flawlessly. Most of the group used the "Mixing Station" app since it is simpler and a lot in our group are not as tech savvy so it seemed appropriate. I play keyboards and use my laptop as a VST for the sounds. I also just use my web browser to connect to the mixer and I can control everything from there.
      We had issues with the "Mixing Station" app in that I didn't know if it was possible to set permissions in that app. The app worked great, but I could tell people accidentally messed with the main mix and/or were messing with my Aux since mine is Aux 1. I had to remind everyone during the performance to make sure we're only changing your personal aux.
      Anyway, baby steps. I also recorded the show through the UI24R and it was phenomenal. I used a powered USB Hub for my Samsung T3 SD hard drive. Worked flawlessly. I use a QSC Touchmix 16 at church for those performances and am equally impressed with the Soundcraft UI24R as well.
      Thank you for the tutorial again.

    I have 6 band members to set up IEM's for. So, what you are saying is the I grant access to, say AUX’s 3,4,5,6,7,8, label with their names and they use only their AUX channel? How/can their access to others mixes be controlled. I'd like to see how it is done.

    • @EaslerMedia
      @EaslerMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Barry, I actually have to go back and watch my own video here again because I don't do this personally because it is an imperfect setup. You have to manually set them up in the permissions area like I describe on each person's device I believe which is not a perfect scenario. I THINK it is possible to assign each device an IP with its own restrictions but I am not totally sure that is true. I seem to remember reading that though. Like I said, this is not a feature I really use so I am sorry for a poor answer here.

      @EaslerMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you know what the password is? If so, you need to go to settings -access-log in. Once you're logged in, you can disable this. If you don't know the password I believe you have to do a full reset of the system which involves uploading a file. This process is in the manual. I don't know it off the top of my head though.
