I gotta say that I watch a lot of vedios here on TH-cam and you have got to be the BEST person I've watch that clearly showed step by step instructions on how to do something.
Thank you for that. Your instructions got the job done.

It's $400 for his bearing and seal kit, for another $50 to $100 I can get a new Maytag of the same capacity, why in the world would anyone spend that kind of money to fix one thing and still have everything else in it 20 years old and waiting to break themselves?
Sorry but I'll just spend another $50 to $100 and get everything brand new, that's just insane how much those parts cost, no wonder there's no appliance repair shops anymore.

I recently had a leak in my older Maytag washer. I found this video and did exactly what this gentleman did, including having to cut off the spanner nut with a small grinder because it was so frozen on. I ordered a tub seal from Amazon at half the price Maytag and other distributors wanted for it. I did not replace the sleeve bearing, probably a mistake but it seemed fine. I followed all directions, put the washer back together and it now works good as new. Thanks man!

@tommyagnew: I had a 1992 Maytag with the vary same issues. I wish I had gotten that machine fixed by a professional. I bought a2018 Speed Queen TR5 SERIES WASHER which is rated by Consumer Reports as poor washing performance.

I would tighten the center nut first before the 3 tub bolts. To make sure it is down all the way. Also I would replace the spring clamps with all stainless hose clamps to keep the rust to a minimum. I used silicon grease to lube the rubber parts for easy assembly and a little on the bearing. It won't affect rubber parts and is totally water and heat resistant. My cork gasket had a gap so I had to carefully remove it and reglue it with shoe glue or contact cement. Thanks for a wonderful video.

I hate when those spanner nuts freeze up. It’s not uncommon at all. Nice to know how to get those loose. I usually make a mark on the tub to make sure that Allen screw on the mounting stem doesn’t fall into one of the recess groves when reinstalling it. It is hard work but worth it in the long run. Thanks for posting!

This is a all around excellent job! Great explanations and filming. I followed this to repair the same model machine. A few tips I would add. Use a torch to heat around the torx set scew. If it strips out, I don't know how you would get it out! Take care that you place the inner tub concentric with the outer tub. Mine wasn't and created a noise during spin cycle as the inner tub rubbed on the plastic tub cover. Fortunately, i was able to loosen the tub nut and readjust.

Awesome work, Eugene. I've always used laundry soap on seals that are going to have water touching them. I don't think a light film of oil is going to hurt anything or show up in laundry. Just a me thing. Plus, I've done most of these in laundry rooms. So soap or fabric softener was the closest lubricant. Do you just use electric motor oil?
