Thanks for the continued comments everyone. It always makes my day to hear that someone, somewhere in the world has enjoyed what I've recorded. I have a few more videos sitting here ready to upload - just need to find some time to do what needs to be done.
Everytime I feel like I want to stop playing the piano, I come back to this song, reminding me the possibilities of beauty that can be performed. This song especially hits me in the feels.
PURE MAGIC! I've been wanting to share this for a long time- but haven't until now- Our 9 year old son has cerebral palsy and it autistic savant(like rainman). His special gift is playing the piano by ear. He has been playing since he was 2. He cannot hold a pen, cannot read- cannot even walk properly- but he can play the piano....and he is inspired by you Terence- Thankyou for making his heart sing....and ours- by watching him. Edit-Thankyou for the heart Terrence -Our youngest son is 14 now-and just going from strength to strength with his playing. We are heartbroken recently to learn that his cerebral palsy is now beyond any further surgical intervention, but as long as he can play the piano(and both my husband and I continue to play too -I play by ear the same as our son) I hope things will be okay.
This is the song that made me take up the piano, but I've never actually played it myself. Time to dig out the song book and get back to it. Thanks Terence for such a beautiful rendition. Cheers
14 extra keys or no, this man can make a piano come to life. A lot of people have learned to play the piano, but only a true artist can move you with his/her capabilities. This man does more than simply play, he takes the listener to another place.
Thank you rouncer74. Much appreciated. This piece was my boss' favorite song. I played it as his funeral recently and it now has even more significance....especially when someone else appreciates it. Thank you again.
Terence, this version is absolutely wonderful! Ever since I saw 'The Man from Snowy River' as a kid back in the early 80s, I have never tired of hearing this tune. Thank you for such a great arrangement!!
I watched the movie last night for the first time in over 30 years, and I was moved by the score. Terence, this rendition of Jessica’s Theme has made me well up so much, considering the recent deaths in my family.
I'm so sorry to hear about your losses :( ...and I'm very touched that the rendition has moved you. Thank you so much for commenting - I hope you and your family and friends stay safe.
Beautiful piece, sir. A friend of mine passed away recently, and she played this song at my sisters wedding. This brought to mind several wonderful memories of her I've not had in ages. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. Please keep playing.
I have broken in horses and have seen the movie and this music and emotions that come with in that horses are gentle giants and not to be miss treated and you will have a friend for life and his rendition of panio is brilliant
Love your rhythmic and harmonic variations on this! Truly lovely and an impressive update to this gorgeous song... the extended ending was most excellent! Thank you for sharing!
I usually listen to this when im studying at uni and have done for years, little did i know that Terence lectures music at the same Uni, funny old world isn't it
Hi Rema - I am so honoured and touched by your comment. Thank you so much for letting me know. I wish you and your family all the best in a difficult time.
Terence, this is magnificent. Your fingers play like butterflies on the keys with just so much emotion. THis piece brings so many memories of playing the piano in our high school form room. We adored the movie and hearing this again just makes me smile. Your playing superb. :)
Terence Koo ! I have to give you props man for this incredible talent of yours...especially with this piece. Thanks, and you should put another one of your own tunes on here shortly.
Terence, this is one of my most favorite songs. I've heard many renditions of it, but yours is by far my favorite and most touching. I've watched your other videos and you are truely delightful to watch and listen to. You have such a special talent. Thank you for sharing it. Yes, please do let me know if you ever score anything. I will be your first customer.
Terence Koo - What a gift you are. First of, you just can't go wrong with Bruce Rowland's Masterpiece. That being said, your interpretation was breathtaking indeed. Outstanding and Refreshing my Friend. You were able to capture the heart beat of it all plus add your personal essence....BRAVO! Keep it coming Terence Koo. Keep it coming Bud. Blessings to you and yours. Cheers >
Sorry Kamben79, I haven't notated/transcribed any of my videos. If someone else wants to transcribe, I'd be honoured to see what they come up with (hint hint!!)
Dear Kamben79 Thank you so much for your great comments. No, I don't score my arrangements (as most of the time I'm rearranging them on the spot), but if I ever do I'll let you know. Thanks again for watching - it means a lot to know that my stuff is being appreciated around the world. Terence
Thanks everyone for your great comments and feedback. The Stuart Piano is truly a beautiful instrument, and I was very fortunate to have the chance to record on it. I agree that my music doesn't yet fully use the extremes of the keyboard, however, this is not to say that one day I won't feel the need to push the boundaries of conventional piano playing. Thanks again for watching :)
You play it right. I've listened to other versions on youtube that fumble all over the piece. I just wish the sound quality was a bit better. The 360p doesn't do it justice.
Hi Natalie. You can get the standard sheet music from places like musicnotes.com. I'm a jazz pianist, so I never play what's written (I embellish and change a few things). Unfortunately there's no transcription of what I've played. Glad you enjoyed it. T
Can somebody name any piece in which extra keys are needed? Because Stuart and Sons claim that they made this piano because there are some pieces that go under average range of piano. Thx. :)
You play this beautifully, thank you, however I often feel that this piece is played too fast, not Freely as intended. But nonetheless , lovely, and thanks for sharing
Thanks Louise. Different people have different interpretations and I personally find the original quite boring, so I've added a little more energy and momentum. I realise it's not to everyone's taste, but I'm okay with that :)
Hi Allen. Thank you for your feedback. On your recommendation, I started watching the movie today. The scene with the colt trampling James was the best laugh I've had in awhile! Some good one-liners too! Regarding the music, I deliberately strayed away from the sheet music. In a world full of copy cats, there's no point in rehashing the same thing over and over again. Personally, I prefer my version: I'm not saying that it is better or worse than the original - just different....and that's okay. I acknowledge that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and some may not like it. All good. Have a great day!
@@TerenceKoo Thanks for your reply, Terrence. Upon re-reading, I realise that my comment may have came across as rather rude, and I apologise for that. I'll elaborate. EVERY artist puts his signature, so to speak, on their work. You certainly play this well, but IMO, the interpretation is not as intended. Having not seen the movie, nor knowing the context of this composition, it's understandable. This selection is timed to coincide with Jim's leaving the homestead.. something that effected Jess profoundly. The original score's musical time, phrasing, attenuations and rests all contribute appropriately to a rather somber moment in time. IMO, the slower and more thoughtful delivery fits this much better. Have a Great Weekend !

I just love that rendition. Jessica's theme has forever been one of my favorites, since I saw the movie in the theater as a child. Masterfully done!
+Ruthie Andrews Thanks Ruthie :)
Lovely, moving, played with feeling and heart. God bless you.
One of the best sounding pianos on TH-cam

+Diane Wolfrum That's fantastic! Thanks for letting me know. I hope your daughter has a wonderful wedding.
Diane Wolfrum Did you show her the movie "the man from snowy river"? It's a must-watch! Very cool you had that in your ceremony
I usually listen to this when im studying at uni and have done for years, little did i know that Terence lectures music at the same Uni, funny old world isn't it
LOL! Thanks Scott. A funny, small world!! What subject are you studying?
my mom loved this piece and the movie also ...we had your version played when we laid her to rest ...thank you for the beauty of it.
Hi Rema - I am so honoured and touched by your comment. Thank you so much for letting me know. I wish you and your family all the best in a difficult time.

Incredibly sensitive playing and arrangement.

Awesome!
@trumpman87 This wasn't written in the classical or romantic period. This for written for the film 'The Man from Snowy River' (1982).
Beautiful.
omg you are now my favorite person in the universe
You are too kind. Thank you. You have made my day :)
Thanks Gershwin Fanatic! I'm humbled and thrilled by your comments :)
Terence this is extraordinary! You really have to write it down, it's just too beautiful not to play it! ^^

Is that a grand or baby? I cant really get a good look
It's a full sized concert grand.
That Sings.
Sounds like...home

Nope, you’ve changed the original character of this beautiful piece. You’re now telling another story,,, sorry no like!!
