I could listen to her all day even though I cannot understand a word she is saying.
...Amazing amount of talent in that girl...
Alba is very modest and self-effacing, and she does not present her art aggressively or in the typical needy manner of many stars. And thats important because she has been doing this since the age of three, and she will need a strong, confident personality to last for a long, long career. She is the kind of person I would love to get smashed with some day when she gets a gig in the French Quarter of New Orleans--deep in the Quarter on a late, late weeknight--those are the best times, especially when you are listening to some great jazz or rock. Hope to see you and your partner in NOLA some day in the future.
It is nice to learn about Alba's introduction to music and to hear about her interest and desires for the future... surely it will be a bright future based on her wonderful past, her dedication to music and song, her love of jazz and her enormous talent.

What I should add to the preceding post, is that Alba, in addition to the other singing and instrumental talent --Andrea, the other Albas, Magali, Eva, Elsa, and others I am forgetting--are beautiful, beautiful, DROP DEAD GORGEOUS women (pardon the Americanism) , and the musicians seem to love each other . Its very impressive in an organization of young people, and Dr. Chamorro is probably the person responsible for that.

Thanks for pointing out the subtitles are now available, Bo. I went over them, and they generally did a good job. (I'm glad I got the hummus part right earlier) Obviously, when she's talking about the trombones sitting down and they "passed" her, she means they were taller than her. And at the end, when she's talking about what she likes to read and the subtitles say "black", what she's talking about is noir fiction, or hard-boiled police thrillers. Who would have thought, from such a sweet girl? 😁😁😁

Alba! How sweet you are. Your voice is unexpected. The last time I saw you in person was when we met years ago. You were maybe 15 or 16. Still a frail young lady, but your voice has matured greatly. Congratulations. I know you're going to do great things.
Joan Chamorro must be a National Treasure- how he mentors and influences multiple generation of young kids and inspires young women to enter what is historically a male world instrumentally on trumpet and saxophone. Only discovered these utube videos from Barcellona a week ago. I grew up well versed on Jazz and Big Band Jazz the whole of the Great American Songbook - what he does and is doing now just Amazes me! And how young he starts these kids! Historically American Jazz has been more appreciated and understood in Europe than in America. I think this is still the case and particularly in Barcellona.

Siempre me ha encantado esta chavala. De niña, de adolescente y ahora de adulta. Esa mezcla de simpatía, desenvoltura, naturalidad y un puntito de timidez que tiene resulta irresistible. Tuve la suerte de verla en directo el pasado Enero, en un concierto que dio en la Sala Clamores de Madrid, un club pequeño y acogedor, con su cuarteto (Alba, Marçal Perramón, Vicente López, David Muñoz) y sobre el escenario es tal cual se ve en este video, simpática, natural y con una espontaneidad chisposa que te hace partirte de risa. Extraordinaria cantante, genial trompetista y gran show-woman. Un autentico animal de escenario, su habitat natural.

That was great! Very enjoyable and informative. The one thing I didn't get for sure is that she said her favorite food was something that sounded like "humos". She'd eat that for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. I think she's talking about hummus, and she mentioned guacamole also. Doesn't sound like a real balanced diet, but it seems to be working for her! If I had the time, I'd translate this interview, because I think anything that makes Alba more accessible is good for world peace and happiness. 🙂
