Crown 2016 was PEAK music, but overall bluecoats deserved the win. Tbh I keep hearing everyone say their percussion score is what held crown back that year
@@theevil_Dem0ntheir drum line was STRUGGLING compared to the rest of the corps for a few years, mostly 13 to 15 then they started to get alot better and now they've had a few years in top 3
The drumline this season was one of the hardest working group of musicians ive had the pleasure of marching with. They were so talented and the drum captions are so challenging. The top 6 in DCI are filled with the best drummers in the country, separated by very close margins. Without them the hornline wouldnt have been able to have such great ensemble timing. No doubt the best hornline crowns ever had since 2013. Id be surprised if we will see another crown brass line with this level of raw power and finesse. But I hope! CMFC
@@ilikerabiez1830they finished second in all 3 visual captions (including guard) on finals night. The caption awards are based on the average scores across prelims, semis and finals. They won those.
People will realize this more someday when the newness of Bloo 16 fades, but Crown was easily the best corp on the field that whole summer. They won brass, visual, guard, and the show evolved and breathed throughout the summer. They changed the ending right before finals to spare the outlaw's life, due to some show designers wanting to set an example of peace following a summer of deadly public shootings. This show is a work of art, and the hornline's performance of this book (easily one of the most challenging books ever written) was flawless, the only hornline rival being Crown 2013
5th in perc is absolute misjudge. The percussion was made to primarily enhance the music and the show overall, it's not just a crank for the sake of crank(looking at you devils). They should have gotten 2nd
They should have never changed the ending. The "mercy" ending is so off theme for a western. Relentless is still probably the second best show from 2016, but it can't be my all time favorite Carolina Crown show like it would be if they kept the "revenge" ending.
Considering this is actually the same run that PR played in Mynd that's on the money. Phantom played it pretty damn well now that I'm able to compare to Crown. Lowkey like the sound from Phantom's hornline better but you can't beat the technicality of those peak Crown years
This is probably a hot take and gonna get some dislikes, but they were the rightful champion. They sounded the best, marched the best, and were the cleanest by a lot. And it’s not like they had a boring show and weren’t challenging their performers. This show is the complete package, but lost bc Bloo had that Ballad and the wink. Not entirely sure how or why BD beat this either

It's been 8 years and Downside Up is still a legendary show that absolutely deserved to win. We were spoiled in 2016. So many incredible shows.
You know it's crazy when they're playing the same part as front ensemble
All i heard was Phantom Regiment 2023-
their runs are so freaking clean
The tuba part is crazy!!
Best 3rd place show ever
Blue devils 2024 should take some notes
