I think the port limits Ethernet speed, often to 100 Mbps for download. But I always get faster download with WiFi. Always. I don't know why some people insist that Ethernet is faster.

I have one device Samsung Smart TV that if I use ethernet which I prefer...the TV when turned on says no connection then connects. My router shows "port disconnected" then shows connected in the GUI. Once the TV is connected the port shows a connection. I changed ports for the TV and the "disconnected" message follows the port. At this point I feel it is the TV software. It is up to date. However if I use WIFI I do not get the message. I have a ASUS router. All other devices whether on or off shows their ports connected.

If I understand this situation correctly, you only get the “port disconnected” error when the TV is first turned on, then it shows it is connected? If so, that might be due to the fact that the TV has to “boot up” and it might not evaluate its internet connects until a certain step in the process. I’m just guessing here as I’ve never heard of this situation before, but if your TV eventually gets a connection after it is turned on it doesn’t sound like anything to worry about too much. I hope this helps!
