using Flash correctly is one thing photographers need to put in effort learning. You just can't point and shoot with a flash. One of the biggest underated topics youtube photographers talk about these days. I think when these guys say " im a nature light photographer" it just means they dont know how to use flash. Why Nikon ditched the speedlight? I used the Sb600, 700, 800 900 and 910. had issues with the 900 and 910. the 800 was a good light. Now when I ask Nikon guys well what about a flash unit. they start talking about how awesome a Pro photo is? lol I said Nikon, not pro photo. lol good video bro. Im about to recieve a new flash unit from Neewar Z2-N ,they are sending me one with a trigger or review. let's see how it is. Looks impressive from what I've seen. MAstering flash is hard. and its not that subjective. Its either your doing it right or doing it wrong.

I agree, when I was learning to use flash, I went to one of the harshest environments to learn. I went 1st to a club and didn't take my flash, to see where my Camera settings were without flash. Then I took the flash in to see if I can get the ISO down without destroying the environment. What good is going in a club taking a flash and making it look like you're not even in the environment anymore.

will be following this series. I know very little about flash photography and even less about light modifiers. Not a huge use for it in most of my photography but there are times when I use a Godox flash (don't remember model, the one with the round head). I do use a diffuser when taking photos of people and try to bounce the flash off of a wall or ceiling if celing and wall are white and won't add bad color cast. Diffuser allows a little catchlight to be picked up in the eyes. Thus exhausts my knowledge of flash. That sunflower field is the stage I love, the birds flock there to feast on the seeds.

@@camerasutra247 for clarity, I meant if the wall or ceiling were white, not the person I'm photographing. Hope folks understand. Will edit the post for clarity.

I use my SB-600 and a custom made diffuser for macro photography and you are right, there are a lot of setting to gets the lighting correct. You don't just hook it up and go.

I currently shoot the Adorama Flashpoint which is made by Godox. I started off with the Vivitar 285 years ago. 😅 Great video.

I agree that an OEM flash should give you better results when using TTL but the OEM I use, Canon, only has Speed Lights. I have one that I use for macro but I use Godox, either branded as Godox or Flashpoint. Why, they are “affordable” and I can get speed lights or strobes. It also helps me if I ever change system since I will only need to replace the transmitter.
Flashes and Strobes are one area I prefer non-OEM.

Can you add low key background music? That would make your already good videos better (IMHO). Thanks sir.

Not necessarily true about same brand manufactured flashes being better than third party. Fstoppers recently did a video (and then a follow-up) comparing 5 different speedlights on Sony and the results are not what I or the reviewer was expecting. The OEM brand may not be the best choice for features or accuracy regardless of price.

@@glennn.3464 depends f stoppers also got called out by Wescott. We’re not doing a test correctly. Keep in mind brands like pro photo are not cheap.
